  1. Your a lucky man that Klipsch stands behind their product no matter what you admit doing to it! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  2. I don't think your getting the point here. I am saying that the static is a known defect, and if your TV had a known defect you wouldn't keep it around and try and tinker, you would get it replaced. That's why Amy didn't hesitate replacing it as soon as I asked. Yes, I am sure one day the scratching will start with my replacement, but at least I used what right every consumer has, and that is to expect a certain level of quality from manufacturers. Car mfg. has little if no tolerance for defect's, especially defects that could get someone killed. If a defect is found, it is fixed with a recall of all the defective parts. I am not saying Klipsch should recall all of the original pre-amps, but it seems logical to expect them to replace the few hundred that have been reported on this BB with new replacements. NO, not the CP-1, just new, non-scratching pre-amps like the one i received. Seems fair. If after 1 or 2 replacements the scratching is continuing it would be smart to purchase the CP-1 just for the extras, and if it ends up scratching... well then Klipsch has issue's. Cause I'm not about to start "knob turning" a $95.00 (CND dollars) upgraded pre-amp, it would go back instantly. Maybe even along with my Pro's. I just can't handle the thought of going through that scratching again. I don't have to settle for that kind of quality, I know Klipsch has higher standards than that. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  3. I would like to know what your issue is with the Pro's k27-R. I think the hill-billy shack you live in might not be the right environment to listen to these great speakers. Hey, is that a tornado? Every post I see you replying to, you always have something bad to say about the Pro's. Do us all a favor, go to some other BB if you have nothing good to say, we're all tired of your BS. It seems like your just an insecure shut-in that has nothing better to do than ***** all day that he doesn't like the Pro's sound. Well, go get yourself a set of "high end" Bose or whatever multimedia speakers you think are better and shuv them up your "boom" sensitive @$$! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  4. Just so all of the normal American people understand, that if dimbulb (AlienX) is from Canada he doesn't represent the genetic norm for the whole population. Mostly Quebec and Ontario house all of the rejects. BUMP. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  5. The previous post was to vent frustration. I would never physicaly harm a human for wrecking their Klipsch Pro's. But to expect any stereo product to go through that kind of punishment, is asking for it to blow up in your face. Your extreme lack of intellegence is your punishment. You live in a trailer park in Tornado Alley don't you... be honest! The Ontario thing is just a front, right? What happened if one of the MP3's had a spike, a drop in the low end, some kind of distortion. I hope Klipsch doesn't honor your warranty for being such a fool. Plus the fact that you admitted you're a fool is even more captivating. "Yes I want to go deaf!". Intellegent, very intellegent. Fits in the intellegence ladder right around pocket lint and toe jam. Best of luck on your journey to deafness, I really hope you get your wish, because you don't deserve to hear the wonderful sounds these speakers can offer. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  6. Hey Alien-X... Don't understand how you could be such an idiot and still afford these speakers! Anyway if I ever see you in person I've got a left hook waiting just for youuuuu. Idiot! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  7. LOl, poor guy, just trying to help and you vultures let him have it! Still it was pretty funny, LET THE HACKING BEGIN! hehe. As far as TV's go, if you can't afford a flat screen larger than 27" (anything smaller is a waste, IMO) then go with a Toshiba, every consumer magazine and display model I've seen is hands down the best standard TV you can buy. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  8. If you bought a TV and the picture went from color to black and white whenever you changed the channel, would you try and turn "knobs" to rectify the problem? NO, you would take back the TV and get it replaced with a new one. And that's what you should do with your Pre-amp. Don't listen to these fools that think they have to fix everything with "backyard mechanic's" suggestions. Amy will get you a replacement pre-amp or you can order the new CP-1 version with all of the bells and whistles from the website. I had a scratchy pre-amp and Amy had a new one at my door in a couple of working days after I contacted her. Granted it isn't the CP-1, but it works very well and doesn't scratch when I turn up the volume. If your warranty is experied, the CP-1 is your only option aside from living with the scratching. In my opinion you can turn that knob till your hand turns blue and that scratching will always come back, eventually. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  9. When I first got my Pro's I noticed the sharp high's right away as well. I simply turned down the treble in the windows audio/volume control panel. I have my bass at 55% and my treble at 40-45%. It made a big difference for me. I wouldn't use winamp's EQ, it didn't make as big a difference as the window's control panel settings and didn't sound as good. Just double click your volume control icon in the systray and click on advanced or try start menu - programs - accessories - entertainment - volume control - advanced... good luck! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  10. Personally, I would keep your old Pro's and just upgrade to the new CP-1 pre-amp. Then you don't have the hassle of selling your old Pro's and buying the 4.1's The CP-1 pre-amp can be found on Klipsch's website and can be purchased directly from there as well. Good luck! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  11. I just had to post a reply on FRIDAY the 13th and this was the first post. Get real Leshrac, purchase the CP-1 and be happy with your Pro's. If it ain't broke, don't #*@! with it! Honda has a new Civic out this year, maybe they'll let me pay an upgrade fee and trade my old one in! lol That would be like a lease and I'm pretty sure that Klipsch doesn't lease their product's. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  12. For what it's worth, I just purchased the Koss TD/65's. I am very pleased with the performance of these headphones. They have excellent bass response and the highs are very sweet, not shrill at all. I got them for $49 CDN and I think they are a very good alternative to the Pro's for those late night DVD and Counter-strike moments. These day's I think any headphone package is going to be good past the $40 range. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  13. I am using the creative labs Voodoo Banshee 16mb vid card, that was bundled with the DXR2 DVD decoder card and 5x creative labs DVD drive. I use s-video from the decoder card to my tv and output sound from my SBlive as well. I think the problem is with the decoder card, because I get sound to my tv when I use a software DVD player, but no picture. The Voodoo Banshee is not a tv out card, that is why the decoder card was bundled with it. Am I doomed to using the Encore software that came with the package until I upgrade? Can a software player work with the decoder card? ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  14. I run all my crap off my PC to my S-video TV and S-Video VHS. I run really good RCA's that are "Y" split at the sound card to my TV and S-video to my VHS or TV (doesn't matter both have it) Also if you have or get a reciever, you can plug in your output from the soundcard into the reciever and get a pro logic effect at least. All it takes is a couple gold plated "Y" stereo splitters Mic to RCA plugs and I needed 40 feet of S-video cable (top of the line Pheonix Gold, cost a fortune but no signal loss!) and Boom your watching whatever you want on you tv with full Prologic surround! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  15. I have tried both WinDVD and PowerDVD with no luck in getting my tv-out to work. I have a Voodoo Banshee 16MB with the Creative DXR2 decoder DVD package. The Encore DVD software that came with it isn't bad but it lacks features like zoom and angles. I want a software player with those features, but I also want my TV-out to work! HELP!! With a collection of over 260 DVD's its important to me to enjoy each DVD's true potential. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  16. Yep sounds about right. I have the Windows or main volume/output at 90%, wave volume at 90%, digital at 90%, Winamp at 100%, my bass setting in windows is 55% and the treble is 40%. Rocker I don't know why you would turn off Digital output, you will loose sound on Audio CD's played from you cd-rom or DVD-rom. I have mine on and there is no added hiss or distortion on MP3's or DVD's just clean awesome sound! ROCK ON!!! lol. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  17. I'm curious... I have the older Pro's and I have a large collection of DVD's (268) and oodles of Mp3's and CD's. I have put the Pro's through the grinder with each media format and my sub refuses to fade. I must be one of the lucky ones that doesn't experience a drastic fade in bass response when the volume knob is at the "bleeding ears" position. I had some trouble with my pre-amp early on (Amy took care of that, THANKS!) but never had a stitch of trouble with the sats or the sub. I can go toe to toe with my friends 100wt powered Pioneer sub and the Pro's sub sounds cleaner and punchier. My sat's have excellent highs and I'm not one to wimper about a slight lack of midrange, that's what EQ's are for. Maybe those with a strong fade in bass should look at getting their sub's checked out? I have a friend that just bought the last set of old pro's in the city (after hearing mine he was on a mission!) and he agree's that for the size, power and price... he has never listend to better set of multimedia speakers with more bass. And Billie Jean, I have my PC in my office beside my living room, and if my wife sits on the couch when we watch a DVD (TV out from the PC and I crank the Pro's up so we can get some added sound) she complains that there is too much bass and that the wall and sofa "vibrate". Now I dare you to call my wife a liar, or for that matter, myself. I think there are always a few models that leave the factory with little "hickups". Maybe that's all this is, I don't know. I do know that my sub and probably a lot of other sub's put out a hell of a lot of bass... right at the mark on the pre-amp! So nice of them to put that there! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  18. I think everyone forgets why things are manufactured in Asia. It's not cheap products, it's simply cheaper labour cost's. All of the components are still designed and hand picked by Klipsch (I hope!) and are simply assembled by an Asian workforce. Probably cutting the cost in half. Also, the speaker wire is a "minimum" quality, being the lowest grade possible for the set to work properly. Anything you uprgade to is just a bonus and will always improve performance. Klipsch isn't short changing us with a bad wire setup, just providing the minimum standard for proper usage. Thats all we can ask for at this price level. But Amy is right, an optional upgrade would be SWEET! Maybe a kit, with all the components you need to upgrade the pro's, plugs, wires, everything. How bout it Amy, is there anything we the consumer can do other than e-mail, letters... bomb threats! lol (just kidding) ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  19. I can't believe you guy's are buying "second" subs for you Klipsch Promedia's!! I have the V2.400 and I can't believe the strength of the bass coming from the sub, maybe you got a defective sub?! Boom, you wanna talk about BOOM! My Pro's sub has so much boom, that my car (that is parked on the same side of the house that my office is on) had its windows rattled by the Pro's sub... now thats bass! I would consider looking into getting your sub's checked out or something, no lack of bass here! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  20. I stand corrected! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  21. I am sorry I forgot to give Hofy credit for the link, I hate taking other peoples credit when they deserve it. But what cool picture's, eh? ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  22. Check this out, it doesn't really help you out with your question, but it sure is interesting to see! It's the installation of a fan in the sub enclosure and you get to see all of the guts without taking apart your baby. http://www.angelfire.com/az3/klipschmod/ Enjoy! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  23. I didn't expect to see the port facing down/up like that. Very interesting, that guy has some serious BALLS! I love to tweak stuff, but that is some crazy s#*t. I'm curious, does upgrading your sats wires void the warranty? I'd like to know before I upgrade them. If it does I'll just leave'm the heck alone! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  24. I agree with you Baz, if it ain't broke don't F*@K with it. I have a Creative Banshee setup with a Dxr2 decoder card and I am very happy with the results so far. I have over 260 DVD titles and I have had only three titles with issues. Art of War, Scary Movie and a slight problem with Me, Myself and Irene. Every other one of my DVD's has played flawlessly. Not even a hint of a layer skipping. I have friends with Geforce cards and Ati cards that have had nothing but problems with their setups, I'm sure glad I don't! The rest of my system is a P2-400 w/ 384mb's of PC100 RAM, SB Live value, 5x Creative DVD drive, Iomega zip drive, LG 12x8x32 CD-RW, Voodoo banshee 16mb vid card w/ DVD decoder card and TV Out S-video to my RCA S-video tv and JVC S-video super vhs all running on Win 98 se w/ DirectX8. And of course my Klipsch Promedia V2-400!!! I have never worked on a more stable system than mine (I'm anal about taking care of it though) and I work on a G4 dual 533 at work that isn't much faster (sure surprised me too!). I always like to stay a bit behind as far as the Technology race goes, saves you the trouble of beta testing all this new crap for the manufacturers for free. Nice hey, they build the crap and the public gets to test it without even knowing about it. At least most software manuf. let you know your using beta products. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
  25. I hope you have better luck with your new components Amythaon. I know after I dealt with Amy about my pre-amp I was very satisfied that I had been taken care of fairly nd quickly. But it still sucks to be without your Pro's while they get fixed or replaced. ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget.
