  1. Right, that would work great if I had an LCD or Plasma that you can mount. But its a huge 61" dlp.......
  2. TV is a 61" DLP projection so no wall mounting or those stands that have a built in mount. Center channel is a smaller (forget model, has 5.25 woofers I think) one. I am thinking I should really get the KLF-C7 though to match the KLF-20's....but hey the current one I snagged on CL for $60. So if I get the KLF C7 (which is frickin GIANT), where the hell do I put it? Right now I have a crappy tv stand and the center speaker is offset to the left, dividing piece of the shelf in middle, and receiver on the right. It bugs me. I really wanna build a nice stand that can hold the speaker properly AND be the right size (low enough so the TV isn't too high off ground and big enough to hold the speaker and components - a mystery). I've seen in the "show your home theater" thread a lot of people put the speaker above and behind (?) the TV. This would seem tricky with a speaker the size of the KLF C7, would have to be some wacky custom stand? What should I do? Find a way to put it above the TV? Or build a custom TV stand that somehow has room for the speaker centered under the TV and the rest of the components (not a lot BTW, receiver, dish network, and xbox)? Thanks!
  3. Just wondering here. Lots of talk about the Heritage sound VS. the Reference sound and how the Heritage sound is 3-way and the Reference is 2-way. Well what about the lines in between? KLF series? KG series? I've got KLF-20s. Where the heck do they fit into the line up? They are 3-ways but I don't think they are considered either Heritage or Reference. I fricken love them by the way and just dont see how it could get much better.
  4. Oh damn now I see you already talked about the lights. Well, where'd you get 'em, what are they called? I want.
  5. Totally off topic but........ tell me about that little light behind the speaker in the first pic?
  6. Hey Fotog - How is that KLF-C7? I really wanted to get one after I got the mains but that thing is giant! I finally conceded (to myself) that it was just too big to fit into any reasonable tv stand. So I ended up getting a much smaller/cheaper Klipsch center (forget the model) that is more of a normal center speaker size with I think 5.5" drivers and a small horn.
  7. Ditto!!! I am a Legend head so my comments ARE BIASED. I spent hours in front of every Klipsch speaker doing a demo and walked away with the KLF-20's over every other option. I have heard/demo'd Klipschhorns and given the room and corners they are very nice. I simply am not aware of any speaker that I would rather have than the KLF-20 - for the dollar amount they cost me. The KLF-10 to my ears does not have the depth of the 20's nor are they as efficient to me (for me efficiency is defined as a specific volume setting vs the percieved volume to the ears). Meaning, the 20's will sound louder/cleaner/clearer/crisper than the 10's at the exact same volume seting at least to me. I even preferred them over the 30's as do many diehard Klipsch audiophiles. I cannot imagine a better set of mains for general all around music/movies than a pair of KLF-20's at somewhere around $600 US. I've heard that about favoring the KLF-20's over the 30's. I've never heard the 30's. Can you tell me why you preferred the 20's? Just curious. And I'm a little surprised you prefer the KLF's over the bad boys (Khorn & Cornwalls) because here on the forums they are king.
  8. Damnit, I had that all typed nicely with spaces and then it came out one long cluster? How do you get the spaces in your post?
  9. I have the KLF-20's. I like my music and I think I have a good ear, but I am no fancy-smancy audiophile. And these are the best speakers I have ever heard. I haven't had the pleasure of hearing Cornwalls or Khorns so keep that in mind. From what I've seen the KLF-20's aren't usually that much more $ than the 10's so why not step up to the 20's? So to give you a better idea.... I love all kinds of rock new and old, I like hip-hop and rap, pop, techno, even some classical and other odds and ends. And these speakers simply rock! They're insane, crazy good. They go as loud as you can stand, and they do it cleanly. The dynamics are awesome, even at lower volumes they sound good. The bass rocks, the detail is good, you hear things you never heard before. I don't ever want new speakers. And of course they sound great with movies, they're super dynamic and clear and loud. Very movie theater like when you crank 'em. And I got 'em for $440 off craigslist. Get them.
  10. Hey how would you say they compare to your old KLF-20's? Just curious. Always thought the RF-7's looked nice.
  11. Just so you know...... Apple or PC won't make a difference. You use iTunes (which you can get free for Windows as well) to play the music and it has an option for playing wireless through the Airpot. It really is quite awesome, I use it and actually have 2 airports and so I can play through two different stereos or both at the same time even. The airport connects digitaly via optical/toslink cable and therefore delivers a perfect unaltered signal to your amp/receiever.
  12. Anybody have any idea about these things? Think they're any good? http://sacramento.craigslist.org/ele/1489445227.html thanks
  13. Since it's a laptop here's what I would do (already did)... Pick up an Apple Airport Express wireless router (wether or not you are going to use it for wireless internet does not matter). You can find great deals on them used. Plug it in near your receiver. Connect it to your receiver via mini optical adapter to optical cable into your receiver (Airport Express has an mini optical out). Now use iTunes to play your music wirelessly from the laptop through the Airport Express to the receiver. I play everything in Apple Lossless and it stays 100% digital and unchanged all the way to the receiver. Sounds awesome and is super convenient.
  14. By better I was referring to the "slimish" tower, that's all. As in, slimmer than the heritage at least.
  15. I know this is an old *** thread..... But I think I have the same issue with my 20's. I can only imagine its the room/placement, just looking to see what you guys think. I was listening to my Dad's Infinity Sm-125 which are a big box, old school 3-way with 12" woofers, and they put out quite a bit more bass and go deeper than my KLF's. Of course his are in his house and mine are in.....mine. Anyway, no other options for room placement. But right now the left one is in the corner and the right is at the end of a wall the opens up to the dining room and entry way. Basically it's a 17'x12' room and one of the corners is opened into the entry way/dining room. So one is in the corner and one is on the wall where the wall just ends (of the 12' side of the room) 3/4 of the way across the width of the room. You guys think it's just the room/placement? I do have a kickass new sub I just scored (SVS PB2!!!) so when thats on its not like it matters....
  16. KLF-20's or KLF-30's! Look for them on craigslist. ~$500 and you have killer 3 way towers that are modern looking and slimish (better than the heritage at least). I recently picked up beautiful KLF-20's (for $440) and they rock pure and simple! Can't see myself ever needing new speakers for any reason other than boredom. They seem to be semi-forgotten about in between the vintage heritage speakers and the new RF lines.
  17. Got some very nice ones for $440 a couple weeks ago, mahogany. Granted the guy really needed to sell 'em. I've noticed another pair on ebay that was buy it now $700, didnt sell, then $650, didnt sell, now listed at buy it now at $600.
  18. Heh, well yeah. I was just thinking if it is a simple thing to do and if it would make a real noticeable difference then I could do it. Seems like all good speakers are "supposed" to have some damping material on the inside of the cabinets. I just noticed (looking in through the port) on my KLF's that there was none (I could see).
  19. Hi guys. To my understanding, the KLF speakers do not have any internal damping on the cabinets. Should I add some? If so what kind? And how exactly will this change the sound? ( I think they sound excellent stock!) Thanks Tim
  20. Just to clarify.... HDMI VS. optical there is no difference in quality, both are digital. The difference is HDMI can carry the new HD audio formats that optical cannot. And HDMI can carry both audio and video in digital in one cable. If you're doing 5.1 audio then there is no difference between HDMI and optical other than one cable VS. two cables.
  21. Hey guys, what is a good range of values for Cornwalls that need a bit of veneer touch up and one needs a new woofer surround?
  22. I use Apple Lossless. I can transfer to my iPhone. I also play all the music wirelessly from the macbook to the receiver through the Airport and toslink optical connection to the receiver. Sounds fantastic.
  23. Hi guys, Wondering what I could use as a decent center channel with my KLF-20's that is not as big as the matching KLF C7? I simply cannot fit the C7 in any tv stand (that will fit my tv) that I've ever seen. Anything else that is a more normal sized center and that would come close to matching? Tim
