  1. I have my 5.5 as rear speakers in a two channel setup with Fortes in the front. I am powering them with a Kenwood Basic M2A rated at 220wpc. The Forte's are more efficient but the KGs are closer to my sweet spot listening area. To me they are a beautiful sounding match in my set up.
  2. I bought a 2007 Honda Civic for my son a few years back. First off you have to evaluate the seller as to what type of person he is. I made two trips before buying, but that may not be possible for you since you have to travel so far.I also talked to him several times on the phone. Make sure he has a clear title for the car. My transaction was made at a bank which transferred the title to me. Also get a written and legal receipt for the transaction, stating what is being paid and what is being sold by whom and to whom. Both parties should sign such document and all should be good to go.
  3. I was going to recommend the SVS but the only one in that price range would be the PB12-NSD but it is still not available; coming soon though and should be a very good sub also. Here is a website for it: http://www.svsound.com/Marketing/10_SVS_PB12NSDSheetCES11WEB.PDF
  4. I used this on a ripped JBL midrange speaker and it worked great. http://www.agrisupply.com/all-purpose-auto-gasket-sealer-blue/p/12403/cn/3000002/ Just use a small brush and apply thinly over rip overlapping about 1/8"on each side. If possible it is best to apply to both sides of rip. Good luck. You will see it, but the speaker will work as good as new.
  5. If I was spending that amount I would go with the HSU VTF-3 MK3. http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html
  6. This was always one of my favorites as a youngster. Big John Big John Every mornning at the mine, you could see him arrive. He stood 6 foot 6, weighed 245. Kind of broad at the shoulders, narrow at the hip. And everybody knew you didn't give no lip to Big John. Big John Big John Big Bad John Big John Nobody seemed to know where John called home He just drifted into town and stayed all alone. He didn't say much, kind of quiet and shy And if you spoke at all, you'd just said hi to Big John. Somebody said he came from New Orleans, Where he got into a fight over a Cajun Queen. And a crash and a blow from a huge right hand, sent a Lousiana fella to the promise land. Big John Big John Big bad John Big John Then came the day at the bottom of the mine, when a timber cracked and men started crying. Minors were praying, and hearts beat fast and everybody thought they had breathed thier last cept' John. Through the dust and the smoke of this man made hell, walked a giant of a man that the minors knew well. Grabbed a sagging timber and gave out with a groan, and like a giant oak tree he just stood there alone, Big John Big John Big John Big Bad John Big John And with all of his strength, he gave a mighty shove. Then a minor yelled out, 'theres a light up above!'. And 20 men scrambled from a 'would be' grave now theres only one left down there to save, Big John. With jacks and timbers, they started back down, then came that rumble way down in the ground. And as smoke and gas smelched out of that mine, everybody knew it was the end of the line, for Big John. Big John Big John Big Bad John Big John Now they never re-opend that wortheless pit, they just placed a marble stand in front of it. These few words are written on that stand, 'At the bottom of this mine, lies one Hell of a man, Big John' Big John Big John Big Bad John Big John
  7. Chug-a-lug chug a lug Make ya wanna holla hidy hoe, Burns your tummy don't you know Chug-a-lug chug-a-lu Got to love it!
  8. People that do not know how to pay attention when they are driving and talking or texting on their cell phones. I wish I had a train horn in my car to wake up their a$$e$!!!!!! [8o|]
  9. My wife has been wanting us to go to Opryland: now I may just have to take her there; as long as I know I might have a chance to give you system a listen. Only problem with that is might not ever want to leave! [H]
  10. It just can't get any better then that. Great job I am sure there were many many hours of hard work put into your ULTIMATE system. Best of luck and enjoy!
  11. Matt, that is what I was thinking it was. I would rather have the extra speaker. Can you do it that way and if you show no center speaker in the setup menu it will send all the center info to left and right front channels? Did not see anything in the manual that suggests doing that.
  12. We will keep you posted. I guess you should bring you cue stick with you, I have a pool table in my basement 2-channel man's cave.
  13. Most all of these posted are great but the one that sick out in my mind is "Master and Commander". Makes you feel like you were on the deck of a sailing vessel; and those cannon balls crashing through the ship and flying over your head WOW!!! []
  14. I was considering an Onkyo manufacturer reconditioned from accessories4less; great price and a warranty also. If it was me I would do it because I like to spend my money frugally.
  15. Hi Moray, I have never really heard of that concept, how do you set that up?
  16. Well I think the KV3 will not do the job, the KV4 will but I hope my wife will not be too upset with its size. Like I had said earlier, if it was up to me I would use a Heresy as a center but my wife would not go for that at all. FYI "chisoxpurdue" I was born and raised in Bridgeport and I am a BIG Sox fan hope they can have a great season this year. When Matt and I set up a date for him to come over, you will be more then welcomed to come over also.
  17. When I change my receiver I moved my center out from under the TV. I have it on the side where the Sunfire sub was. In the near future, Yes I would like to give yours an audition. THANKS MATT
  18. Th HK is working great now I am looking to upgrade MAYBE. I will PM you on the Academy.
  19. Chorus IIs and Chorus have different midrange horns, tractrix and exponential respectivly.
  20. I know it would be a perfect match for the Chorus but for the Chorus IIs also?
  21. Well seeing that you guys did such a fine job in helping me pick out my Harmon Kardon AVR 3600, here is a new upgraditis scenario. I am currently using a RC 52 center between my Chorus IIs, which does the job, but looking for ideas for something better. Keeping in mind that my wife will not stand for another floorstanding speaker as a center, unless it is small. If I could sneak in a Heresy, that would be what I would do but to big for her taste.
  22. My setup mike is in a cone, the base of the cone is about 1 1/2 inch, but the mike is only about 3/16" tiny tiny tiny. I would think to be really accurate they would have to use a much better mike. All about cost effectiveness though.
  23. Hi Matt, I would love to post pick but I have to way or know how to do it. That microphone for the EZQ is so tiny it is no wonder that it can not do a great job. Depending on what my next netflix movie is, it just could be the THE ROLLING STONES LIVE AND IN CONCERT at my house this weekend [6].
