  1. Set 12 Hope you or no one else took the wrong way. I was noot looking for "Kudos" only thought it was somewhat funny how "things" are discovered! Yes, the power these forte II's can now handle is nothing short of amazing. Especially in the midrange, which always is or appears to be the "weakest link" in speaker design. Perhaps that is because 60% or so of "music" is in the mid frequency range. Any way, could not be happier with the end result! Take care, John
  2. Set12 Can you believe that this discovery came about by me losing an original driver while trying to install BC's phenolics? Since the original driver was not repairable I spoke with Bob and Klipsch parts and ordered two new K53TI drivers. I was so impressed with the titaniums that I never gave Bob's a "fair" audition. I am just surprised that it took a "snafu" in order to discover! I suppose that is how most good discoveries come about, by accident! After all these drivers and diaphragms have been available since the release of the Heresy III & Cornwall III. It is amazing how much power they will take from my Adcom 5802 @ 300 WPC, continuous!
  3. Curious if anyone else has yet upgraded to the K53 TI diaphragm other than myself, Extreme 4099, and Set 12? I now have close to 80+ hours on them since the upgrade and they are nothing short of 'Nirvana"! Looking forward to others impressions![Y]
  4. Time to start "Hoarding" spare parts, and or any upgrades that one has been considering!
  5. Yes,keep![H] Keep those boxes for moves, etc. I have my original forte II boxes since 1992. Since then I have moved twice and am so glad that I had them for the move. Unless dropped or crushed the boxes will allow your speakers to be as nice after a move, temporrary storage, etc. Also if you ever decide to sell, most buyers are looking for speakers with original boxes.
  6. I have run into many inconsistincies posted on th Klipsch website as to the spec's on the Series 1&2 Heritage and Extended Heritage line. IE; misquoted diaphragms phenolic vs. polymer, etc. IE; forte II & Chorus II states that the mids are phenolic diaphragms when in reality they are polymer just like the tweets. I would suggest checking with Steve Philips at Klipsch parts. Sorry meant to say that the tweets are phenolic and not polymer! Forget about my misquote on the mids!
  7. Your welcome! Set 12, we are EAGERLY awaiting your review![Y]
  8. Call number below, ask for or select parts, ask for Steve Philips, he is the most knowledgeable on the Heritage and Extended Heritage line. Klipsch Customer Support 1-800-KLIPSCH (1-800-554-7724) support@klipsch.com
  9. Moray; Check Ebay frequently, you can find used Klipsch horns, and or complete driver and horn for very little $$$. [Y]
  10. Kudo's to Bob Crites on the internal wiring he provided with his "Networks" that I installed. The "Positive or Hot" connector provided easily accepted the larger male connector of the new diaphragms. I was able to plug them right in!
  11. Set 12; I agree 100% with your assesment of the packaging. Luckily we both had "well handled" packages between Hope and our respective dwellings. Get those babies in, and let us know your thoughts! [H] Extreme and I have been very satisfied with the results.
  12. []As stated above quite concisely, Not!
  13. Call Klipsch parts and ask for Steve Philips.
  14. Nothing wrong with modifications as long as they are reversable! Everything that I have modified on my forte II can be returned to stock in a matter of minuets, in case I do not care for the outcome!
  15. Both myself and Extreme 4099 A-B'd both the original to titanium as well as BC's to titanium. The Titanium won "Hands Down" for both of us. The transparency between the mids to highs with BC's replacement titanium diaphrams for the tweet's is nothing short of "Outstanding" INMHO! Call Steve Philips at Klipsch, he will return your call if unavailable. I am certain that he can provide you the "Frequency" stats for the K53 TI Diaphragms. I am certain that the diaphragm can handle the crossover points of the forte II and Chorus line. Try it you will LIKE IT! [H]
  16. I think I may have been the first to perform this mod, and post my thoughts. Call Klipsch and ask to speak to Steve Philips. He is very knowledgeable on the Heritage and extended Heritage line. Your only concern is the frequency. Both the entire driver and or just the titanium diaphragm will work from a physical standpoint.[Y]
  17. I was able to install the complete K53 TI driver with Titanium diaphragms on my forte II with no issues. Like your forte's, they came stock with a 1 1/2 inch midrange driver. Extremely easy install, just remove the horn from original driver, and install new. Truly "Plug & Play"!
  18. The K53 TI driver will work with Eponential or Tractrix horns. The K53 TI driver is currently in use for the Heresy III & Cornwall III midrange horns which are Exponential. I installed the complete K53 TI driver in my forte II's which are Tractrix. No sense in ordering just the diaphragms themselves when a pair of K53 TI drivers with diaphragms are only $2.00 more per pair![Y]
  19. Last I spoke with Bob, his primary speakers are Heresy III, which was just a month or so ago. Told me he loves them, same titanium diaphragm in the Heresey III & Cornwall III. K53 TI Drivers. Just a thought, but perhaps Bob has not released since they are already available hrough Klipsch, and perhaps little to no gain can be made for the same or less money. Any way after BC's new crossovers, BC's Titanium Tweeters & New Klipsch K53 TI midrange drivers I am done with mod's on the forte II for the next 20 years or so, time to kick back and listen!
  20. Set 12; I honestly have to say that the titaniums are 95% burned in at the time you first power them up. I have about 50-60 hours since install, and ever so slight improvement since then. Since I only auditioned BC's phenolic replacement for a few hours I cannot address that burn in time. When I first heard I knew that the new Ti's would be "Staying Put". I to have never been dissatisfied with my forte II's since I pulled them from the boxes back in '92. I cannot believe the overall improvement with new networks and Ttianium diaphragms in the mids and tweet's! "forte II on Steriods" is the only way I can describe vs. original stock. Happy Ney Year to all!
  21. If you already have BC's titanium diaphragms installed in the tweets you will be "Blown Away" by the transparency between the mids and highs. Also greatly improves the midrange clarity especially at higher listening volumes. Did you order the entire driver for each at only $1.00 more each? Still blows me away that the diaphragms only are $84.00 each, yet the complete driver and diaphragm is only $85.00 each??? Go figure![] For $2.00 more to have a set of spare mid drivers is unheard of. Well, let us know what you think!
  22. I to am an Adcom lover, and have owned 555 1 & 2 series as well as the 5500. I bought a pristine 5802 on the used market about a year ago, and have never looked back. Best sounding Adcom amp INMHO. As others have stated you will see little to no gain by bi-amping. The 5802 provides 300 WPC into an 8 OHM load. And is "Class A" biased to about 50+ watts per channel then goes into an A/B status.
  23. I stand corrected. For some reason I was under the impression that the Tractrix was used, but I guess that would be "Heresy"! [Y] The Heresy III Tweeter is Tractrix, but the mid is exponential as well. Guess Klipsch wanted to keep as close as possible to the series 1 & 2 on the Cornwall.
  24. Klipsch put the K53 TI Driver in the Heresy III & Cornwall III along with a Tractrix horn with a titanium diaphragm. I installed these drivers and diaphragms on my 1992 forte II, after installing BC's titanium tweeter diaphragms. The combinitation is simply "Outstanding"![Y]
