  1. Howdy folks, been a while since i have stopped by. As for the Denon vs ??? question.... I have to say I am completely happy with the match that is Denon & Klipsch. I actually have 2 rooms that are all Denon and Klipsch setups, I could not bring myself to let the old stuff go . Now, as with anything in this line of questioning, it is REALLY important that you get a test listen in and find out what your ears like! However, you will never know what it sounds like in your space with out trying it, but you can get a good feel. When i test drove my Denon AVR-5800 in the store it did really well, but when i got it home... WOW, and i still feel that way each time i spool up that room. /ramble off
  2. a bigger place to put my stuff in please!
  3. do the denon 2800. there is a lot out there about the first round of shipments. do not let this persuade you from picking up one of these units. the first round has a green dot after the serial number (on the box and on the unit itself). this one had bugged software (has the red upsampling error). denon acknowledged this and has been great at standing behind this product. the recent ones have a black dot and come with the software flashed already. for the price this is an AMAZING player. you get GREAT sound from it (not like the reference cd w/ alpha, but damn good for a dvd player) has much of the bells and whistles (HDCD, MP3 - no ID3 reader though , progressive scan, vcd etc). in reading reviews, please take note of the software issue, as early ones KILLED this unit, and there is a lot of confussion over it. however, people are becoming more aware of it, and it is seeing more of the respect that you would come to expect from denon. i was upset when i heard the inital reviews, but i let it run its course, took a look at other units, and came back to it. btw, plugging this into your 5700 will blow yer socks off *grins* would love to hear your response and review after you run out and pick one up this weekend hee hee hee
  4. dooooo eeeeetttttttttttt denon has done fab things with the 5/7 channel stereo, and the neo:6 stuff is fun as well. the 3801 is a very happy reciever, dtsES is supa spiffy!. i had my scope on that one for a long time till i slipped and took the 5800 (cuz THX EX is supa spiffy too!) (yes, i love my denon, i love my klipsch, and when i can have my mother over for dinner and sit her down to watch a movie, and she ducks, dodges, and hides because she heard something screaming out from behind and left of her, i have done something good *evil grin*)
  5. hi there... just to add some more to the pot. i am an owner of a 2500 (older denon pro-logic) and a 5800. i have used both in in my current setup (a nice smattering of klipsch) besides the obvious step up in features etc. the sound from my 5800 makes my klipsch sing. but in all fairness it was my 2500 and my CF's that made me fall in love witht he combo. now that i bit it and layed down the larger cash for the 5800 i just understand that i made the right choice. to sum up, i trust denon and klipsch to give me the warm fuzzys be it the old 2500 to the new 5800. i have heard (and recommended) the mid denon amps (of course i also recommend they attach some klipsch to the other ends of it as well ) and i have yet to hear anyone tell my i recommended wrong.
  6. yup yup bobg! i own the 56' mitsu 16x9. run the better out from your vcr. and a word on those mitsu widescreens... my experence is that unfortunately they do not ship these sets tuned very well. (this is even very common in reviews seen all over the net). spend the money to have a qualified technition come out and tweek it out for you... WOW. all of a sudden i have a better then when i bought it set. i was so happy. i had thought switching between my dvd (480i) and my progressive dvd (480p) produced a difference... (of course it was a big wow) but getting it tuned made me go WOW again hee hee hee. note: you can try to do this tuning yourself, but i would recommend you do not as you could cause more harm then good. - the codes are all over the net for getting into the config menus.
  7. ok in all honesty, i have been a denon fan for some time. when i went to upgrade my reciever i did break out and listened to quite a few of the ones mentioned in these forums. the yamaha is not a bad unit, it is just that i really would not use 90% of the dsp modes, which seems to be a highlight of that reciever. i bought the denon 5800 after listening to a dozen or so different models. thuth in the matter is it comes down to personal taste in sound. what matches that taste in concert with your klipsch's! (not to mention possible budget constrants some may face). i tried to keep an open mind when listening to different recievers, but nothing lit my ears up like my denon. word to the wise, just go listen to then, you will find one that does the same to you!
  8. omg... i could not even *think* about what would happen if i set my denon 5800 to 0. *shutters*. however i have to put my 2 cents in on the THX sound. ummmmm cccaaaaannnnddddyyyyyy for 'da ears!!!
  9. hi there! i currently own one of the denon 2800's. i have it hooked up to a 56' mitsu . i love it. the sound from it is great, and the picture is great! as for the comments out there about people not digging the denon 2800 it is understandable. the first round put out had a software issue with the mpeg player in the progressive output. that issue has been addressed and denon has been standing behind their product very well. there is a lot of talk about it... i had long awated the release of the denon unit, and when i heard teh frist reviews i was upset. i looked into other players (i run a full denon stack) but as i could not settle on one. i deceded to wait till denon fixed the issues with the 2800 and i tell you, i am SOOOOO glad i did!
  10. i am in the denon camp as well. denon and klipsch were a match made in electronic heaven. i used to run an old denon 2500 which got me hooked on the klipsch/denon combo. i recently dropped in the denon 5800 and OMG it is just amazing. i had looked at many many av recievers before purchasing the 5800, but no matter what i put together nothing sounded better then the denon. yes, i am one of the typical klipsch/denon freaks... i just love that sound.
  11. i feel you on this one. i had a simular debate with myself when i moved to up my system some. i have quite a collection of klipsch in my living room. sooner or later i will get it all matched up... but till then it works. i love my cf's!! only wish i could haev afforded the 3's when i bought them i ended up with the c7 up front, rs-3's on the sides and kg1.5's for the rear effects. i had thought about upgradeing my fronts, but i just could not imagine losing the cf's lol. i just do not know what to do... guess i just open that one up in it's own thread.. hee hee hee...
  12. denon denon denon... and did i mention denon...
  13. Hey there... i am new to this board as well... but i currently have epics as my mains and a C7 for my center. i happen to LOVE this. i believe i read in another thread that you are running this off of a denon reciever. yet another good choice just letting you know that i am sure you will be completely satisfied with your selection!!!!
