  1. I know what you mean about getting it in your hands. I passed one up in thrift shop due to ignorance once. $50 bucks. Boy did I kick myself later. Have a 400 now and it's a keeper.......Taz
  2. No such thing as "A little bit Pregnant." You either IS or IS NOT. Great score on your part.! [] Taz
  3. I paid close to 2K and drove around 1,200 miles in 2 days for mine. North west to South west. Very tired, but not sorry. Now that I have them I could not consider selling......Taz
  4. Are those availible for tweeters also. Someone moved one of my speakers I had stored. Knocked off 2 protective steel mesh covers and smashed the tweeter dust cap on my Allisons [:'(] . My dust caps appear to be foil. Thought about the old vacuum trick, but may be too flat or get too much vacuum............................Taz
  5. If you speaking of my off hand jest, believe me, I take you very seriously. I always dispose any rags, paper towels, or anything with any kind of oil, solvent, or whatever in the wood stove in the shop in small amounts. I remember as a child, before I was 5 years when the grass from the lawn dad had boxed up in the garage caught fire. Over 52 years ago and I still remember. I do however like to laugh at myself with others. I certainly meant no offence moray. Just trying for a laugh is all.........[].......Taz
  6. So with some practice, I could encourage a group to have faith in my mystical powers as we chanted and the Bon Fire lit itself?
  7. Myself, I enjoy an old Marantz Quad. The model number escapes me aat present, I don't think it is the Marantz 4270 Quad, but it does sound good to me in the living room. Plus the wife likes it. Looked at it when I got home and it is the 4270. It may be OLD SCHOOL but we like it.......Taz
  8. I'm sure there is a "Black Smith" on the Forum. Let him take a "Wack at it." Can't hurt at this stage....
  9. She must have told you to COOL it, and go scrape her windows....
  10. Double OPP's. Triple post.....[]
  11. I was once told I would make a "Good Professional @$$ hole". Those that know me now have trouble believing this. Who says a an old dog can't learn new tricks...Taz
  12. Keep a stiff upper lip. I still consider myself a newbie. But have had a lot of questions answered. Received some teasing which is a good thing. Met friends I may never see. Bought a set of Khorns. In process of buying other equipment that forum member is being very patient, and working with me on. I myself enjoy the "Smart Remarks" as they help me to keep from taking myself to seriously. Generally have a good time lurking on the site. .............Taz............[]...................Welcome to the Forum.......[]
  13. Lucky he has medical coverage. The more I read, the more I realize I don't know. Looks like analog is old school and digital is way to go. Also important to find someone who has patient's best interest at heart and not the almighty dollar. Appears that as stated prior on this thread, new products have come a long way. There is even an aftermarket repair shop that will fix what factory will no longer fix. The more I look at this the more I realize I don't know. Some Audiologists/hearing aid sales people have same reputation as some used car salesmen. No insult to any members who are in used car business. Have met some car dealers that had my best interest at heart and given me excellent advice!
  14. Co-worker got a pair at Cost Co. Here is what she has to say,,,,,,,,,John,............. These hearing aids work very good. I purchase the remote control and I am able to turn the volume up or down when I need to. Also, there is a normal setting and a setting for resturant, when I use the setting for resturant, it removes alot of the background noise which can cause to mis-understandings on conversations and confusion, which can be embarassing. The hearing aids are great. I bought one from Belltone, was not very happy, 1 year warranty, the one hearing aid was $3400.00, and they pulled their offices out of this area, so I was unable to get the hearing aid adjusted. These were $2600.00 and remoted control was $150.00 which made it a total of $2750.00 with a 3 year warranty. I am very pleased. They also do internal cleaning every 3 months on the ear pieces and replacements (which is free). They work great in a vehicle while driving, and listening to a radio is nice. I feel this is a very wise investment I made for my money............. Dee Cruz.............................. .........................Mom is also planning to get a pair from Cost Co. .........................The have options to allow for TV to be played at normal volume. Only down fall that Dee told me about was that one needs to be a member of Cost Co. I can send brochure via reg email to anyone that wants. Mom said her's are more expensive. Not trying to push these. Just share info. ...........................Motorcycle and aircraft headphones don't work from what I've read as they need to be hard wired to radio. Still looking for more info though. ..[:^)].......Taz
  15. I see you went ahead and got the La Scala's. I didn't notice until after hooking up my 9090 to the Khorns. 4:00am so had to keep the volume down. Gave my son the La Scala's I bought. Anyhow I found the 9090 very pleasing with the Khorns. As for the La Scala's I'm sure you've found, or will find,, It will do just fine. Big understatement.....[] .....................Taz
  16. jhoak, email sent...........Taz............ I work on a loud unit and the echo's are terrible. Co-worker is very happy with new hearing aids. Have remote, restuarant setting which cuts down on background noise. She says she can listen to the radio/music while driving now. Anyone want her account, and copy of Brochure she sent me. Send me email with your email address and I will forward her statement, and copy of her brochure.....Cost Co.is where she got her's.........Taz
  17. I feel guilty of a misunderstanding. Thus to feel better I will explain. "By the way I've knew this lady since High School and we email back and forth from time to time. Her Husband does not feel threatened bothered by this, I asked him..............Taz". He is not bothered by the email conection. We live on different Coasts. One East, the Other West. I just felt the need to be honest, as the missunderstanding bothered me. I believe I have found some hearing aids that will work. Now I just have to wait, and talk/email her and her Spouse................Taz
  18. Set young one in a chair with car battery and jumper cables in front of him. Dim lights for better effect...Strike spark with jumper cables away from battery and sugest that he/she never do what they done again......[li] This can be done in garage with only park lights on and battery still in the car .........................[].......Taz
  19. Throw defective screw in trash ASAP! Used the power drill in reverse several time this evening on a Honey Do Project. Now I got to go out and put a sponge in the rain gutter. Too much water going to one of the down spouts....[].....Taz
  20. Have had one for over 20 years. Lost most of the bits, but still have the driver. The other day the local "Tool Man" said he carries bits for it, including Torx bits..[] ......:Left handed drill bits are also sweet. Have a couple of those in tiny sizes.
  21. I like the Idea of drilling the heads! Better then messing up the cabs. I think the drill in reverse would work for next step as well as vice grips. Always hated turning the little Devils our with vice-grips.,, Thanks for addition to original post......[]
  22. If you can get the screw to back out enough to use drill chuck to attach to head of screw, You can attach drill, put in reverse to remove Screw. If you can't back screw out at all due to stripped head you may have to remove enough wood to get drill chuck on screw head and proceed as above. Sure beats the way I used to do it with pliers or vice grips. ..[H]....Hand held electric impact wrench also works better then electric screw driver on screw removal, at least for stubborn deck screws. Taz
  23. I thought I'd ask for advice here as this is my go to site. [:$]............... I have a friend who is hard of hearing. She tells me that when traveling in a car she can't join the conversations with others in the car. Road noise and her hearing aids just don't allow her to follow the conversations.............. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help her? Or can point me in a direction that would? My thoughts run along the line of mic's that the others could comfortably wear that would transfer to a headset she could also wear comfortably that would transmit voices clearly without transfering the road noise. She also states that her kids don't visit much as she cannot follow the conversations due to background noise also interfering with her being able to follow the conversation........I dearly love her as a friend and would love to be able to do something that would help with this problem........She would never ask for herself, but I will. This would not be an x-mas gift but something I would like to do later. The expense issue also needs to be considered as I am far from wealthy. However I do see some performers singing into small mic's on stage that do not seem to pick up the background noise.........Will thank all for advice, teasing, or whatever in advance. By the way I've knew this lady since High School and we email back and forth from time to time. Her Husband does not feel threatened bothered by this, I asked him......[]........Taz
