  1. No, you don't want to get your S4i's wet, especially the Apple control. The S5i is water resistant and will stand up much better in wet environments (I wouldn't actually dunk them in water though).
  2. Yea, mine were like that too. I don't think it will be a problem. We'll see once these get to be about five years old. I got my Image One's at the Apple store. Maybe I should have ordered them directly from Klipsch like I did my other in-ear phones.
  3. I ordered the ones for the S4, and yes, they are the T-100. In my opinion, they don't come close to working as well as the ones supplied by Klipsch.
  4. "I don't know why the other guy doesn't like them." Well, I thought I'd try them, but they didn't seal nearly as well as the Klipsch oval ear gels so the bass was nearly non-existent. When I was fiddling with them trying to get them to seal, one came off the ear but and stayed deep in my ear canal. I needed tweezers to get it out. [] For my ears, nothing beats the Klipsch oval ear gels. []
  5. I just use the little clip that comes with the ear buds and clip it to my shirt. It at least minimizes the noise.
  6. I tried the Comply foam just to see if I would like them. I didn't! They were terrible in my opinion. They didn't fit my ear canal as good as the OEM Klipsch ear gels and they would come off the earbud becoming stuck in my ear. [] So, I'm sticking with the OEM ear gels as they are about as good as it gets. You can order more directly from Klipsch.
  7. Or people could just buy from Klipsch and save unknown problems. []
  8. I can't answer whether that dealer is legitimate or not, but do wish you luck if you're returning them. My S4i's (and my other buds) were purchased right from Klipsch; I figured Klipsch is an authorized seller. []
  9. Thanks for the review. Maybe Klipsch will come out with an S5a model for the Android phones. []
  10. Someone must have purchased a pair of the S5i's by now. Anybody . . .
  11. They look really nice. I wonder how they sound compared to the Image One?
  12. I was wondering if anybody got a pair of the 'rugged' S5i headphones. Mainly my question is, do they sound the same as the S4i? They look the same, but as we all know, looks can be deceiving. The water resistant feature of the S5i is what I'm most interested in. Thanks all!
  13. I have had no problems with my X10i strain reliefs (or any part of them). I use them a lot, but do take care when pulling them out of my ears; never pulling by the wires themselves. [^o)]
  14. My guess is the "tool" was discontinued because it isn't really needed. I never used mine. It is likely a way to reduce cost so prices don't go up for those of us who want these headphones. If you notice wax in the ear gel, just remove it from the ear bud and clean it in soap & water; then pop it back onto the ear bud. Remember to line up the white line on the ear bud with the molded-in line on the ear gel.
  15. I like my Image One's a lot! And yes, even the iPod Nano powers them adequately. []
  16. "and they're rather expensive IMO" Well, it's more than a piece of molded silicone. It's the engineering behind the science including studying the anatomy of many ears. Then it's the hours of drawings and the process of finding the right material to make the gels out of. After that, patents, and finally then manufacturing can be determined. Certainly there is a lot of testing and re-design that goes on too. Manufacturing of a precision part that won't pop off the earbud and get stuck in your ear is not as easy as it looks. I wouldn't want to try to manufacture them myself and sell them for as little as Klipsch does. It's not like it costs $100 per pair for new gel pieces. . . . just my opinion Peace
  17. Did your x10i phones break?
  18. If it is a manufacturers defect, Klipsch will warranty them. Their customer service is excellent.
  19. You can buy new ear tips right from Klipsch. []
  20. I had the sweat dripping down the wire problem with my S4i headphones too. I do indoor cycling (on a fixed trainer) in the winter and sweat is a big problem. The good news is it is possible to repair them. The bad news is you need electronics experience, a microscope (unless you have really good eyes), tiny tweezers, and a lot of patience. You can prevent sweat problems by putting the buds in upside down so the wire sticks out away from your ears so sweat doesn't easily drip down the wire. In addition, I wrapped my Apple control in plastic and sealed the top with wax to ensure no sweat gets in. You can still press the buttons easily through the plastic. For the repair, you can split the Apple control by inserting your thumbnails or other suitable tool into the seam. If you have an ESD ground strap, now would be a good time to put it on. Carefully pull the covers off exposing the circuit board. Clean the covers and the button strip and put them aside. The snap contacts on the circuit board get contaminated with salty moisture and is likely the cause of the failure (it was on mine). Gently pull up the plastic tape holding the snap contacts in place, and then clean any crud off the circuit board in the area under the snap contact. Don't forget to clean the snap contact itself too. Once you have completely cleaned all three contacts (if necessary), carefully align and re-stick the plastic tape so the snap contacts are in their original position. The tape should re-stick satisfactorily. Test the control to verify complete functionality. Now re-assemble the control covers & button strip. Be extremely careful not to tear or pinch any of the fine wires or you'll render the headphones useless. It is helpful to use a dot or two of super glue at strategic locations to avoid pinching the wires with the covers or circuit board. Once you have everything lined up and the wires in the correct place, snap the control together and it should work as good as new (mine did). Hope this helps and good luck!
  21. It doesn't happen with my S4i or my other headphones. It might be the jack on your computer is loose (worn out) or it is not 100% compatible with the Apple four-connector plug. Some devices seem to have this trouble with the Apple connector and others don't. My computer works fine with all my headphones (and my iPod & iPhone works naturally), but my old CD player does not unless I pull the plug out slightly.
  22. I suppose that is why they offer the i version and the non-i version for those who don't intend to use their phones with an Apple device. Personally, I really like the fact that I can control my Apple device with the control. I don't use the microphone, but use the volume and skip buttons regularly. []
