I was just going to say something similar. The limiters are to protect power amps and speakers in commercial installations. The limiter says nothing over value X is getting through. This protects the amps and speakers from someone getting way to happy with the main output fader. Consequently it "clips" any signals over that X value. This could sound quite harsh and may account for the artifacts you are hearing.

I think your front panel display will start acting more like everyone else's when you adjust the limiters. There is a vague reference in the Xilica documentation that the display is referenced to the limiter threshold. To wit:
5. Peak Level LED – Indicates the current peak level of the Signal:
Signal, -12dB, -6dB, -3dB, Over/Limit. The Input Limit LED references to
the device's maximum headroom. The Output Limit LED references to
the threshold of the output limiter. -

I don't think so. The threshold of the compressors/limiters are adjustable.

@rplace I got my old preamp hooked up and working this evening. My Xilica does not show any gain reduction.

Back to our regularly scheduled program.... Does anybody with a Xilica see gain reduction on the meter display even though you don't think you've set up any compressors/limiters?

Compressors on canned music? No. But I use DBX expanders and the downward expanders on my mixer all the time. Live music(karaoke) yea I could see compressors on that. Compressors definitely have a legitimate use on live shows or stuff you're trying to tame for recording purposes.
So do you compress just the background or the dialogue or everything?

Gain controls are logarithmic. By definition dBs are logarithmic. The good news is so is our hearing
. So yes if you lower both LF and HF gain by another 10db they should track. But I'm still curious about the gain reduction going on in channels 3 and 4. I think I will have to get something up and running while the mixer is gone so I can check my Xilica unit out. I never noticed the gain reduction meters doing anything but maybe I was just not paying close enough attention. Anybody else got gain reduction going on?

I don't believe so. I think those are the gain reduction meters, showing the activity of the compressors/limiters. You have me at loss here because my mixer that runs my set up malfunctioned and has been sent back to the manufacturer. I currently have no way to feed a signal into my Xilica. Can anybody else verify what the meters on the right of display are?

Hmmm... I still don't see any signal on the output meters in XConsole. But I do see activity on the gain reduction meters. Do you have limiters or compressors set up?

Anything going on with the pegged meters? Sorry for my absence, I got invited to a concert last night and therefore did not get all my chores done yesterday. So I will be spotty again today.

Never seen that on my unit so far. I would think first of all that you should set it up so any unused outputs are muted. Inputs too. What are the meters in XConsole showing when the front panel meters are showing this? Oh and yes I agree with Coytee if I could get my unit to output like that the Jubes would blow you out of the room

You really can't get that broken off fuse cap out of the fuse holder cap? Did you try a small pair of needle nose pliers? Insert the tip with jaw closed. Then open enough to squeeze against the sides of the broken off cap. Pull out while still exerting pressure against the insides of the cap.
