I don't know if you saw this post of mine in different thread:

"Finally got around to putting the Xilica back on the bench. With -10dBV (consumer gear) ref level unbalanced input I was able to get the input meters(in XConsole app) up to +5 dB out of a possible +21. This was with the gain of the input channels all the way up to +15. There is still another 15 db of gain in the outputs available. Curiously it looks like the front panel input meters show the input level WITHOUT the gain you add with the input gain control. But the meters in the XConsole app shows input level with gain added.

Well I'm still trying to wrap my head around what the front panel meters are showing because now I have a balanced signal at +4dBu going in and the meters show "signal" but the -12 led is not even lit."

Well I am still trying to wrap my brain around this. I feed a balanced signal out of my mixer to the Xilica and yea if it is at ear bleed level the bottom "signal" led MIGHT be on on the input meters. Nada on the output meters. I will figure this out even if I have to call Kent at Xilica for some help/explanation.

I finally figured out what the heck the meters on the front panel of the Xilica unit are indicating. They are calibrated as minus dB from 0dBFS. And 0dBFS for them is +20 dBu. I could not find this anywhere in their documentation. The meters in the XConsole GUI are clearly labeled as reading in dBu.

And BTW Kent is no longer with Xilica:(. I hope it has nothing to do with the info he provided me.

  3. OK I reread Dean's post several times and its sinking in. I believe ALK always says you cannot take the inductance of the woofer's voice coil out of the equation either. So between the horn itself and the inductance of the woofer there is a "nautral" for lack of a better term low pass filter in the woofer circuit already.

    For sure it is not.

So your woofers have been running full range for however long its been since you removed said parts. Hmmmmm.... I'm no expert by any means but this can't be a good thing. Otherwise PWK would have left the inductor out(they cost money).

Ah, yes.........DISTORTION, which is the great equalizer. It's real easy to to turn up a low distortion speaker like Klipsch and not realize it's too loud because it's so clean.

Ah yes it is so wonderful. It is way to easy for me to get to happy with the volume control when I'm listening alone (no conversation going on). It's SO CLEAN. Like I said wonderful....

    But only for short periods.

With all that gun fire, I thought I was in Mexico.

Las Vegas... Mexico   pretty much. Mexicans claim we "stole" this part of the country from them. Often they need to be shown the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

That might be the problem right here actually,  These plugs look to be solid metal,  it appears there's no way to compress the tines, the banana portion of the plug looks to be solid with the plug itself.   very weird.

Leave it to the Chinese to take a 100 yr old proven connector and "improve" it or not manufacture it correctly and ship it to America anyway. If you're going to move on to something that works make sure you throw those in your car so the next time you go by Best Buy you can get your money back.

I've got a pair of 1996 La Scala LSI-B "Professional" series that I just now pulled the woofer door covers off and I discovered this... (see picture) How often did the employees actually sign things like that? And one is more of a written message and not just a signature plus all are dated 5-2-96...maybe the day actually finished? I guess there's no question on their build date.

I thought that was pretty cool.

Ms. Ruth has a way of looking at things that reminds me that to us we all have an awesome set(or multiple sets) of speakers. To her it's a JOB.
