  1. So lets see...in the last few weeks on ebay. The previous RC-7s on ebay, one black one cherry, went for 315 and 335. Now, the latest two, both black, went for 640 and 770 before shipping. What is going on? Are people not satisfied with the RC-64 II. I owned one for about 12 hours before taking it back, it can't hold a candle compared to an DeanG RC-7. I'm not sure where this demand is coming from. Thats just crazy, i mean 30 dollars less than what is sold for 10 years ago?
  2. I have those in my setup now...I loved them. Till I received my RB-75s for the front heights. Holy COW what a difference! As to helping you, I just had them sitting on a shelf. Since you have to angle them down, that makes things more difficult to mount. Do NOT lay them sideways, that really messes with the image and does not help with the height effect you want to go for.
  3. The lowest I've seen on Craigslist around here was 300 a pair...not mint, but not bad either. I would have snatched them up if I had a place to use them. If only I had room for wides! [:'(]
  4. My current surround is 4 RC-7 center channels. I love the big sound that come out of them. WIth that is a trade off, that they do sound a bit more direct than regular RS-7s. Given that they are a center channel though, their image is wide than a typical bookshelf type speaker.
  5. Exactly the reason why I wouldn't tell anyone about the deal until I had the speakers in my hands.
  6. Gotcha...I see whats going on. My NOSCRIPT was blocking nearly half that page. Got it now. Thanks!
  7. I too have seen the RC-7 on Audiogon for 325...however, not willing to ship is the death of getting any money on the RC-7. This is why people get the RF-7 series at such good prices. People are usually forced to go low so that they can move the speakers. Myself, I picked up my orginial set of RF-7s with an RC-7 and RSW-15 for 1500 dollars. This is why that RC-7 went high on ebay, people are willing to ship them, and if I were the buyer, I would damn well make sure that they have insurance on that pacakge. Also, IMO, most people say the cherrys are worth more money, but from what I've been seeing the Black ash ones seem to be going for more money on ebay. Also, what is up with the Maple RF-7s on Audiogon for 1600 bucks? I don't think he will ever move them at that price, regaurdless if its a rare finish or not.
  8. Wow... Not to throw fuel on this fire...but apparently this set of RB-75s lasted about 4 hours on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RB-75-Main-bookshelf-speakers-/260909167840?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item3cbf65f4e0 (I can't find an end date, but I do a daily search for RB-75, saw these in the completed items, and I know they weren't there yesterday) Went for 750 bucks.
  9. I think we saw some trickery there at the end of that auction, either one or two things happened. 1. There was a big bid from someone a few days before the end. (Like 600 bucks), while it was still in the 2-3 hundred range. Others bidded, but kept getting auto-outbidded, so they just kept going until it got too high. 2. The seller was pumping up the bid with another account. The last cherry one on ebay was 360 bucks. So something had to happen to drive it that high. I'll bet the seller never expected it to go for that much. Hope they had insurance, because I know what a pain those things are to ship if it is mishandeled.
  10. I see an RC-64 II on ebay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RC-64-II-Center-Speaker-Black-Dealer-Display-Model-Blemished-RC64II-/120822008617?_trksid=p5197.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26itu%3DI%252BUA%26otn%3D12%26pmod%3D160693374689%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4658363312534844929 However, when I had one, it sounds like crap when paired with the RF-7 DeanGs.
  11. Well, right now they are set to full range. So yes, I know the bass would take a hit by just letting them sit up against the wall. Although I'm not sure how much info at 80hz and below is on the surround channels.
  12. I am facing a situation where I will likely have to have my RC-7 up against the wall. Would there be any benifit to moving the ports to the sides of the speaker? Obviously you would have to then plug factory holes in the back, however it would be against the wall anyway. I see from the woofer size that there would be enough room to drill and place the ports without any problem. I just don't know if moving the ports would have a drastic effect on the sound, right now it is up against the wall and aside from bass output, there really isn't a noticeable difference. What would the pros and cons be of each? I did do some searching for this topic, but couldn't find anything. Thanks.
  13. Now up to 600. I think you're gonna see a lot of RC-7s unloaded on ebay in the next few weeks. The last one went for 370...and it was cherry finish.
  14. Its also at the end of the Star Wars movies on blu-ray as well.
  15. That ebay RC-7 is now up for 470...I'd say they are becoming more and more popular. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=120818836415&ssPageName=ADME:B:BCA:DE:1465
  16. Am I insane to like the sound from an RC-7 as a main surround? I have a pair of RS-7s at the sides, however, these are more or less sound sprayers, so just for shits, I moved my rear surround speakers up and hastily put them into temp spot to see what they sounded like. The sound incredible, of course they have the same tweeter, crossover points as the mains. Currently they are at about 100 degrees from the listening position as you can see in the pic. The old surround sits next to it. Am i crazy to think I like the sound coming from two center speakers pointing strait out? The ambiance seems to be better pointed out rather than down. The only downfall is that I could slightly regonize where the sound was coming from...I could likely take care of this by re-balancing the speakers as they are on the same levels as the old surrounds. What do you guys think? Of course I would love to have a pair or RB-75s, but the RC-7 IMO is better, just a bigger more difficult to place speaker.
  17. I would hold out for an RC-7 as the very least. They can be had for 350-400 shipped.Just make sure whoevrer ships it to you gets insurance on the package. There is one on ebay now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-RC-7-Center-Speaker-/120818836415?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item1c215d23bf
  18. Just make an RF-7 center channel speaker! I have an extra RF-7 laying around...Minus the network until Dean returns my newly built one.
  19. You could easily swing a pair of orginial RF-7s for under 1000. At least, thats what i've been seeing lately on Craigslist.
  20. I would really try to find either a pair of RF-5s, RB-75s, or RF-7s for your rear speakers. I've tried pairing RB-35s, RS-52s, RS-62s for surround speakers for my RF-7s, and none of them sounded good. With the RS-7s, and now my RC-7s in the, all the sound compliments each other.
  21. I must not be seeing your emails. Shoot me a PM if you want to talk directly. []
  22. I have minepointed directly out about 4 feet above the listening position. They sound great in that location.
  23. Maybe thats what I have going on...for whatever reason, my room seems to kill signals in between 40-30 HZ. Audyseey always kills the bass response of every speaker. This and it rolls off the high end something terrible. This is why I don't use it. I figured the room must be echoing like crazy if Audy turns them down that much.
