  1. Yes they use a different kind of magnet (neodymium magnets), and the new ones aren’t video shielded so there’s no metal around the magnets
  2. The old rf-7s are only 1.4”s taller than the rf-82s. Which means the rf-7ii are monsters![]
  3. It have the same on screen stuff as the link I posted?
  4. Here’s a link to a great walkthrough http://forum.blu-ray.com/subwoofers/90525-calibrating-your-subwoofer-velodyne-sms-1-equalizer-analyzer.html
  5. I’m guessing it would not sure though. Being able to tap the volume for your subs during a movie is so nice (without having to go into your avr set up. that’s a pain in the middle of movies plus you have to remember to change it back)[]
  6. The sms-1 does a sweep from 15 Hz to 200 Hz and you can see and hear the sweep on your screen. And it plays over and over and every time you move or change anything you can see how it affects the graph. Every room will change how it looks you get a chance to really see how good your subs are and how well it works from your lp. It might be different from the sms-1 not sure though thought I heard they are the same. I do know that is the same mic that the sms-1 comes with. Having a remote for subs rocks
  7. Youth that’s the she same mic and eq my Velodyne's SMS-1 is. What a great tool that is. Don’t run the auto test though that part is junk because it won’t change the frequencies just the level s of the standard ones. Jump in and do it manually if you have any ? on how to use it let me know. You’re going to love that eq when you watch it on the screen and get it to a flat response you won’t want to give it up. Do a little homework on the sms-1 I’m pretty sure that’s what you got inside that sub.
  8. It looks better with the full wall but I wouldn’t be able to hide such awesome looking speakers (rf-83 or rf-7). But I would be scared with young kids running around.
  9. How wide is your room youth?
  10. Is there any way to move everything to the other side of the room and then have your lp away from the back wall so you can open the doors? Or I would definitely change the door to open the other way. I would be way too scared that the 7 would get hit.
  11. Your room looks awesome I’m jealous of the projector []
  12. Another thing to try I know 95% of people would set everything to small and the crossovers would vary but I run the 7s and the 64 as large. I’ve tried tons of different ways and large in my room and set up just sounds best. But I think it’s more that I run 3 subs and by running the speakers as small the subs run to hot (signal) and get too much mid bass so by running them on large it tames the mid bass and to me sounds better. Also gives me a way flatter response on the sms-1.
  13. Here’s how mine looks I would call klipsch something looks out of place
  14. Before I got the rf-7ii set up I ran the rf-82 system with the rc-62 and rs-52. So I changed set up like you did. Before I started buying klipsch I ran speakerlab speakers they are very similar (not now) to the Heritage Series. In the 70s and early 80s they sold kits some of the models where copy cats of the Heritage Series khorns and Cornwall speakers. So I was kind of use to the more refined sound from many years of running labs. When I got into the reference line I was just looking for something small that filled the room for ht. and after years of upgrading up to the rf-82 set up i was very happy for ht. I always knew they didn’t have that smooth clean sound that a really high end built speaker has but in my apartment it was plenty. When I bought my home a year ago and was able to really light up the room with sound is when it was even more apparent that I wasn’t going to be totally happy. I don’t know if by excitement you mean that sound when the high end kind of cuts at your ears (not in a bad way) I will admit after getting used to it the rf-82s sounded great loud but not that clean sound I knew from the labs. When I first heard the rf-7ii the first thing I felt was that sound when you unplug your ears everything comes out effortlessly. You never hear the speaker’s sound change when the level gets really loud. I would recommend turning it up a little more than you normally would. It’s a different sound than the 82s they would get really loud pretty fast the sound would be in your face not as laid back and I will use the word pure and not forced to your ears. I sold my old set up to a friend so I have heard it (different room of course) and the sound isn’t even close. It’s definitely a different animal. What did you mean that something was sticking out on the rc-64ii that you pushed back in?

    $1,500

I heard the umc-1 has had many problems. Its bummer they make such good amps for the money. I guess it will really depend on what you all want as far as features go. I would think $1500 should get you a great piece of gear. I just don’t have a lot advice on pre pros though. What part of the umc-1 do you not like?
  16. I would highly recommend going internet direct for a sub you will get twice the sub dollar for dollar. Svs/epik/ed/hsu all has great subs for great price and value. Epik has a sub for 499 epik legend it has 2 12s both powered and I’ve heard it’s an amazing sub for $500. I have the empire (big brother2x15s) it’s a monster for $800(easily in my system best dollar value spent next to the emo amp but that’s another tread). It might be out of your price range. But 1 empire will outperform even the top sunfire. I do like sunfire but the value new (unless you can get 40-50%off) can’t compete with internet direct subs. I have a $1200 def tech sub (supercube1 paid way less) and my epik and svs crush that sub not even close. Only problem however with those subs are that they are huge (the epik legend is way smaller) they both way over 120lbs and aren’t going to disappear in your room. So for some people (not me) they want the sub to tuck away. So in that category the sunfire cubes and def tec cubes make amazing super small subs. but if you’re like me and you like the imposing look and sound of monster subs any of the 4 brands I listed will knock you over. I own two of those brands and even though the svs is probably my best sub it costs $500 more than the epic.
  17. Lol I use that term and always wondered how it came to be. Thanks bill[]
  18. It’s no contest even when I was running just small wall mount reference speakers the rc-52 didn’t get it done. It just doesn’t have the size to give the voice enough to stand out all the time you will still be Turing the volume up and down on movies with the rc-52. If want something that you can just watch a movie and know your good on levels during the movie the rc-62 is your speaker. I only had the rc-52 for a few weeks and took it back.
  19. I am very sure. As Youthman pointed out, there is a local seller with a pair of cherry RS-52's. About 2.5 years ago, Vanns(and OneCall) was selling the cherry RS-52's and the cherry RSW-10d subwoofer both for $499.00 shipped. I agonized over it for some time until I decided on the RSW-10d. They were slated for the European market and both stores had a bunch to liquidate. They are actually cherry vinyl veneer but very wood-like in appearance. Bill Did they sell more cherry stuff in the uk?
  20. My son in law might want it ? If not i may keep the amp, it said 110 wpc, never know where it could go ? Lol I wouldn’t count on it those rack set ups were huge in the 80s that’s when they really started lying about stat ratings to sell gear. My guess 60 watts if that
  21. I think it’s a combination of things half those people probably have never even heard klipsch and are just going by what they read on forums. Not too many stores have higher end stuff. About the best speaker you might find would be the rf-82. A few stores have some stuff but most people audition lowers level klipsch. The fatiguing part I don’t know how anyone could say that from just an audition maybe they are just guessing they would be. Anything loud can become fatiguing for anyone no matter what kind of speaker brand it is. They just announced another new line of even lower level speakers so I’m guessing that rep will grow even more. I know klipsch makes money on these lower level speakers and it might be a good value I don’t know. But as they say you’re only as good as your weakest link
