  1. Yup of course they were Decorators. The Model # says it all. Also the Decorator model has two slits for ports in the front where a normal Cornwall will have 3. I agree rip off the quater round and throw out the grills and it would not take much at all to get these looking good again. Laters, Jeff
  2. Bass is what you make of it If you want wall shattering bass then you need woofers to back it up. There are not a lot of tricks here. Some companies offer better bang for the buck than others and some can get great bass from small boxes. However every room responds to bass differently I would suggest that you use your current subwoofer for a bit and see if you can live with it. Of course if money is no object then by all means get the new sub. Here is a good example. I have 3 SVS woofers in my media room. I have a ranch style single story house on a slab with no basement. I friend of mine has a single 10" in his theater on the second floor of his house and gets almost the same amount of bass from it. Room tuning and materials will affect the sound more than anything. 3. Well friggin heck time to look for a newer version I guess. Although like I say the current version is not bad at all. Laters, Jeff
  4. Humm I will look at mine again maybe I got a bum disc!! Anyway no matter what it is it still sounds awesome! Laters, Jeff

But I'm willing to use a "lifeline" and ask the audience... ---------------- Humm KG-3's were made in the late 80's early 90's right? Those pictures look like (to me anyways) they are from the 70's to early 80's. I don't think it is a Heresy either. Notice how the grill comes out of the frame with a little bevel. All the Heresy's have the grill mounted inside of the wooden frame not coming out like that. Just my 0.02 Laters, Jeff
  6. There are several true 5.1 tracks on the DVD however the concert itself is Dolby Digital Surround. That should not stop you from keeping this disc. I really enjoy it and think it is a great concert. Laters, Jeff
  7. Justin - Partsexpress.com has some decent stands. You might check them out. Laters, Jeff
  8. Thank you thank you In my wildest dreams I didn't think I would ever get the much sought after 5 tongues hanging out rating!! I is actually nice to get some positive comments as opposed to most of my friends who think I am crazy...why do you need such BIG speakers...my 27" TV is big enough...small cubes would sound and look better...Bah I say to them! Yeah I really enjoy the SVT. It is such a sweet car. I have gone to several "SVT on Track" events and all the Ford engineers are really proud of the car. According to them the suspension is the closest to a full race version that they have ever put in a car (this was before the GT40..opps..GT came out). Laters, Jeff
  9. ---------------- On 5/18/2004 12:23:51 AM JTS8 wrote: Thanks, How did you do that? That was our goal last night and finally gave up. ---------------- The first thing to do is to get the picture hosted on the web somewhere. You can do that by using the attach file button or using your own web site. Second is at the bottom (left of save button) the reply window UNCHECK the HTML box. Now back at the top you will see all sorts of editing tools for fonts etc. Click on the little button that looks like a small landscape and insert the URL of the web location where your picture is located. The picture will appear real time in your post so you will know right away if you have done it correctly. In your case your picture is hosted here so the url is: http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/files/Heresy6.JPG So first make a post and attach your picture. Then open the picture and copy the URL in the browser bar. Then paste that into the proper place in the Insert Picture Dialog box. You can also resize the picture which I also did by dragging the corners around. Hope this helps! Laters, Jeff

  12. Wow thanks for the nice words guys! I have tried my best to make a nice system. The room is 21X17 and is open to the Kitchen and 2 hallways. The ceiling slopes from 12 to 8 feet. The part over the SVS's is 7 feet. When I frist sent my room to Tom at SVS he said "humm tough" I started out with just one 20-39, blew the woofer, and then upgraded it to a 20-39+ driver. Eventually I got the additional woofers to feed my bass addiction. One point that I would like to make is that this did not happen overnight. If you look through all the older pictures on my website you can see most of the different stages that I went through. I don't have a pic of it but it all started with a pair of KG4's and Radio Shack Minimus 7 surrounds. There is a lot of waiting, Ebay bidding, forum finds, and just plain luck that has gone into all of this over the past 5 years. The upside is that from all the speaker swapping I actually ended up with 5 Heresy's so I am all set speaker wise for a dedicated HT with front projection that should be done in a year or two! So the moral is that if you can wait and "collect" the equipment over time you can end up with an awesome system for not a ton of cash. And yes the system rocks and yes it sound great Thanks again! 13. Very Nice. Kindda bummed that you won't be moving back to DFW so we can hear it. Good luck on finding a house that can fit those beasts!! Laters, Jeff

  15. Okies I finally took a picture of my HT system with the Center Cornwall and Painted, Spiked '76 Designer Cornwalls as my front mains. Click HERE for a bigger picture or visit my HT Web Page. Here are some comments from a recent listening session I held. Comment are welcome!! Laters, Jeff
  16. WOW! Holy Crap! That is my ultimate goal and you already have it. Awesome HT with nice attention to detail. Laters, Jeff

I have a 57 now and have wanted to go up to these new big ones. ---------------- The 73" Mits use very high quality 9" CRT's. Think of it as a CRT projector without all the hassles. Most of the smaller sets use 5" or 7" CRT's. You need at least 9" CRT's to fully resolve 1080i so in that respect you not only are getting a larger picture you are getting a TV that can truly resolve HD 1080i. The guy who I trust to ISF my TV owns the a verson of the 73" Mits and keeps telling me that is the TV I should have gotten Laters, Jeff
  22. Ok I have most of the ones mentioned so I will add: Blue Man Group - The Complex Rock Tour Live Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense The Complete Monterey Pop Festival Doobie Brothers - Rockin Down the Highway Simon and Garfunkel - Concert in Central Park I have many others but that would be a short list of the new ones I have picked up and some old favs that I really like. 23. Humm somehow I think I may be responible for part of your madness Laters, Jeff
  24. I think I can sort of relate to this. My father this week has just told all of us kids that he intends to sell the faimly homestead (built and lived in by his parents, himself as a child, and us after his parents passed away). Although we can all understand that he wants to move to a warmer climate and not have to deal the harsh Vermont winters we are all in shock. None of us kids can afford to buy the place so we will be going back there for one last time in June to sort through all of our personal belongings. It is really tough to say goodbye to a place that is so special and that has always be there. The house has a character and charm that will not be found in whatever modern house they move to. I guess it is time to finally grow up and start thinking of my own house as "home" but it is a tough pill to swallow. I have thought about it a lot this week and I have slowly come to the realization that I will still have all the fond memories of Thanksgivings, Christmas, Birthdays, and Weddings and that "home" is more than just the material possesion but a state of mind. Best of luck to you and your re-build. On the brite side it seems that you will get an awesome new music room! Laters, Jeff
  25. Great news! The only other suggestion that I would offer up would be to use the Avia (or some other test disc) for the calibration signals instead of the built in test tones. This is the only way that you can truely test the entire signal path including the DTS and DD decoding in the receiver. As an example I will tell you that in my model H/K the LFE channel setting between DD and DTS is different by about 13dB (-5 for DD and +8 for DTS). This is to get the same output at the subwoofers. Now I have since learned that in most AVR's the LFE is boosted by about 10 dB in the DD signal chain (this is per spec). However if I had just used the receiver's test tones or even a test disc that had DD only I never would have known this. In fact until I got a disc with DTS test tones I thought that DTS sounded like crap (which it did because the bass was being overpowered by the rest of the system). Now however everything sounds awesome. Also make sure that the tripod was sitting on the couch where you would be sitting and the top of the SPL meter was at ear level when sitting and then angled up between 90 and 45 degrees. In my room I got best re****s with the meter angled up at a little over 45 degrees. Just my 0.02 from having been doing this for a bit. I would also play around with the tilt angle of the Heresy and the toe in on the Fortes. If the Heresy is on top of the TV make sure that it is upside down (the tweeter closest to the floor) and it is angled towards your head while seating. You can play with the tilt angle to reduce or increase the effect of higher frequencies at the listening position. Playing with the toe in on the Fortes will have an effect as well. I would make sure that the Fortes image dead nuts on with two channel sources and then start playing around with the rest of the speakers. Even in a multi-cahnnel system it is very important to nail the stereo only imaging of the front main speakers. Also from my experience if the stereo image is nailed and the tilt angle of the center speaker is correct then the height of the tweeters is not a huge deal. In my system the height difference between the center tweeter and the front mains is about 3 feet. Laters, Jeff
