  1. Just my opinion here and I have heard both subs extensively. The RSW-15 has some good slam in the upper frequencies and sounds quite nice down to 30hz or so but rolls off. The Depth goes lower, flatter, and tighter than the RSW15. Depth is one of the fastest subs I've ever heard. A lot of subs that are more expensive but I think ML did an amazing job on this one for the price. I absolutely believe that the Depth trounces all over the RSW-15 in every way. And it's smaller too...
  2. People love to touch esotec and esotar tweeters. I also love punching them in the face when they try.
  3. Quote: Penguin, See I was pushing Dynaudio all the this time in many forums, its not for nothing..you are a Dyandudiophile too now. The best buy in high end speakers to me is still Dynaudio Contour series, the best sounding plain boxes with the most boxless sound.I was never impressed by Dynaudio subs, tried their 10" and the Contour Sub,the Contour was great ...but I paid a bit more and purchased an Aerial SW12...and even better sub. I still have not purchased the Special 25,well one of these days.Until then my modest Contour 3.3 serve me well as mains Reply: Yes the contour series is an excellent buy. Not cheap but I believe you get what you pay for. The early dynaudio sub 20a and 30a was nothing special at all. The new sub 300 and 500 is much much improved. Dynaudio has said that it is more accurate and has more output than the older contour sub. Both sub 300 and 500 were made to match the entire dynaudio line. The aesthetics are the same as the new contour series with the driver mounted on a floating metal baffle. I heard the sub 500 compared to the ML descent, and it held its own quite well. The descent might have been a tiny tiny bit tighter, but the sub 500 had more output and seemed to go lower. I'm thinking of getting the sub 300 for my contour 1.4s. Both the 300 and 500 come with a remote control that you can use to calibrate everything while you're in seating position. I don't know why all subs don't come with one. Also there's 4 presets that you can access at the touch of a button. I'm thinking one for music, one for movies, one for late night music, and one for late night movies. -UP
  4. TheEar go take a look or listen to the Dynaudio Suvs!!!! Come on Sub 300 and Sub 500!!! -UP
  5. Oh for crying out loud. The going gold monday post was a fake. It's not going gold monday. But on the plus side, it is available for preload so they gotta be really close. The preload is for the entire game! After downloading a message saying a locked copy of half-life 2 has been downloaded on your computer etc etc. IF it doesn't come out this year I'm going to throw my x800pro in the garbage.
  6. Alright half-life 2 to go gold monday! Those using steam can already start preloading encrypted source files, but will not be able to play until they release purchasing details and decryption keys. It's looking like a 2nd to 3rd week of september release. Looking forward to it.
  7. TheEAR have you heard the dynaudio subs yet? Come on man.... you should....
  8. I just bought CS: Condition Zero because there is a free beta download of Counterstrike Source running on the Halflife 2 engine. The graphics are awesome. Very clean. Physics is really cool too. Most realistic implementation of physics in a game to date. I can't wait for HL2. So far the beta only has the dedust map. Hopefully, they will add more soon before HL 2 comes out, which could be a long time.
  9. Let me start my pimping of the following subwoofer since it is relatively new and not many peeps know about it: http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/subwoofer/sub300.htm It's around 1300 retail. Goes about as low as the RSW-15, with tightness, punch, and accuracy that is unheard of in a ported enclosure. Those Danes sure know how to get a lot out of a 10" driver. Also it comes with a programmable remote control. How cool is that? For a little bit more you can get the 12" model which is a sealed design: http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/subwoofer/sub500.htm
  10. I have to say I completely disagree with everybody's opinion so far. I like M Night. I thought Unbreakable and Signs are the best of his movies. I loved the epiphany ending. And I was quite disappointed with The Village. There you have it. There's something for everyone.
  11. alright I bit the bullet and got an x800 pro.
  12. I think that something is wrong with you. lol ---------------- On 7/26/2004 8:11:13 PM TheEAR wrote: Holy crap did I read right over 50 idle and over 80 Celcius under load! Damn that is hot,too hot. I use two 60mm Delta fans blowing on the video card,51cf each. And the card has a air duct to force air thru the fan and to force more air on the heatsink. The ducting works wonders and these ubber fans along side a 10000BTU air conditioning maintain 18 Celcius in the room. My X800PRO stays at 27 Celcius idle and never goes above 38 Celcuis under full load! Both the X800PRO and X800XT PE use the BIG coolers stock on the HIS upscale cards. And I removed the blower fan and now use a 80mm Sunon Tornado(84cfm!).Now this is what I call forced air supercooling. The 6800Ultra runns a bit hotter,35 at idle and 47 under full load.Still these are always under 50 Celcius, with stock 6800 cooling, with a little help from a few Delta screamers. I cannot stand high temps, these ruin overclocking and stability at high speeds. When I bench I drop room tems to near 16 Celcius!COLD But systems run at blazing speeds and are stable ----------------
  13. Just to chime in, I have experienced nothing but bad quality with toshiba hdtvs. Never again will I buy anything toshiba. I have a 32hfx something or another for about 3 years now. Although it works fine, there are some faint white lines going through the center and sides of the picture. It's not noticeable on dark backgrounds but whenever the background is light, like a view of the sky, then it is very noticeable. And this is after having returned the tv 2 times at future shop. On my third set, I finally gave up because of all the hassle and learned to live with it. I hate my tv though.
  14. Swerv, isn't your avatar Hinata from the anime Naruto?
  15. At that price, I'm partial to the arcam diva cd73t: http://www.arcam.co.uk/diva/hifi/cd73.html I paid around 500 for mine. It was that or the rotel rcd-1072. I chose Arcam because it sounded smoother.

But it's not like it's anything important. We're talking about f@cking audio here guys. Don't forget that. Just because somebody is misinformed doesn't mean we have to kill him. Behind bars? Okay I know it's a joke but come on....
  17. What's weird is that for $12500, that JBL S9800 flagship speaker only plays down to 45hz and at -6db! My bookshelves play down to 41hz at -3db at less than a quarter of the price. Of course frequency response doesn't tell everything but at that price and size you'd expect it to play a bit lower. Those JBL's better sound like nobody's business...
  18. Sweet. I love classe stuff. Have you heard about the new line of components they are coming out with? Their website has a hint of it on the start page. It's a brand new redesign with looks to kill for and each component has a blue digital touch screen for navigation that can be programmed. It also has RS232 connection to a PC so you can upgrade or download new software and content. Sick as hell and built like a tank. I had the chance to listen to the new cd player and integrated amp rated at 100 wpc. Sounded awesomely smooth and powerful. They wilkl be in some serious competition with Mark Levinson and Krell at cheaper prices. Their omega series monoblocks are already pretty crazy...
  19. If you're avoiding separates solely based on space, I'd recommend Totem Mites, or even better Dynaudio Audience 42. Couple these tiny bookshelves with a small amp such as the musical fidelity X-series integrated amp and cd player and you have a mini system to die for. I could be biased towards dynaudio, but the audience 42 is just a much better speaker than any of the RB series and at a cheaper price than the RB-75 too. I used to own the RB-3. If price were a consideration, then this system may not fit your bill as it will be around $1750 USD.
  20. I forgot there was a topic on this already. I posted in 5.1 forum about my new hd 650s. I'll post pics next week. They are quite a huge difference from 580 and 600. Deeper bass extension. Smooth, fast, airy. Those are the words that come to mind. All those characteristics are improved over the 580 and 600. I don't actually own the 600. Auditioning between the 580 and 600 I couldn't justify the price difference. The 600 is WELL worth the money and I urge all wholike the 600's sound to seriously consider an upgrade if the budget allows. You won't be dissappointed.

As for hero, not sure if I was expecting an all out action flick (although the trailer had quite a bit of it). Would you say it's got less action than Crouching Tiger? And regardless of action, how is it as a film? ---------------- I think it has slightly less action than crouching tiger. Or maybe it feels that way because the action is segmented and told mostly in flashback. It IS a good movie. I liked it. The Donnie Yen Jet Li scene could have been better but it was still pretty awesome by any other standard. It's just that when you have two of the best martial arts performers in the world squaring off, your expectations tend to get the better of you. Not too many people know Donnie Yen. I wish he would star in more movies. He's now mostly involved in choreography and behind the scenes work. I like Donnie's fighting style more than Jet Li's. It comes off as being very effortless and powerful. He's also flexible as hell and built like a tank. Not to mention he was a martial arts sparring champion in Asia for I don't know how many years in a row.
  22. dBlue, just so you don't get THAT dissappointed when you see Hero, the movie is not all that the trailer sets it up to be. Expect a fairly stoic drama, intercut with scenes of serene action. You'll understand what I mean by serene action when you see it. The story and message are quite good, but it's just not the crazy action packed movie that it looks like in the trailer. The Donnie Yen and Jet Li fight scene is good and well done, but for whatever reason, it doesn't have the kinetic energy of the stick fighting scenes in One Upon a Time in Chine 2. It's good, but just don't expect an all out martial arts movie. And just so you know, I'm a huge Donnie Yen fan. Iron Monkey is still his best.
  23. Hey formica. Do you shop at Radio St. Hubert as well? I think that's the shop that theear said he gets his stuff from. Anyways, good luck to the Habs next year!

The plot thickens... (A la Kill Bill volume 2) If you use two more interconnects at the y end, the attenuation introduced would probably outweigh the risk of RFI and EMI combined. Nonethelss, if you can run one cable it's always best to save money. In the case of two subs, it just aint happenin' brotha
  25. Downgrade for sure. I've heard from a few people (one of them being moon if I remember correctly) that said the RB-75 is not all that it's hyped up to be. He preferred the sound of 2 RC-7s instead.
