  1. I love watches and like to look and read about them, but never spend much on them. I had an inexpensive TAG F1, a little fiberglass thing years ago, but the band broke and a new one wasn’t worth the price, so didn’t replace it. Now I alternate between 2 Wenger, 2 Citizen Ecodrive, and 2 Timex. Of special interest is a Railroad Approved Seiko Quartz I’ve had for about 32 years. When I worked for MKT Railroad we had to buy these watches. Kinda crazy at the time wearing a $200 watch switching train cars, the most dangerous job I’ve ever had.
  2. Now that looks pretty low maintenance dtel........
  3. Some time ago someone made a center out of a KLF-20 if I remember right so it would lay horizontal. He did have to cut a new motorboard, then mounted the woofers at the ends and stacked the horns in between. It looked awesome and totally dwarfed a KLF-C7. Can't remember what he did about the rear ports though. Just a thought........
  4. The router is a D-Link N300, will this be OK? And how concerned should I be about setting the WEP, WPA, etc. security settings? What is the effective range someone could tap into my wireless signal? Like I said somewhere else, I'm clueless about this wireless stuff. Thanks
  5. Jeez.........talk about Doomsday Paranoia; I've never seen long time members flip out like this. If you feel you must, jump out of your basement window. No one knows any details... Amy, Have a good weekend...
  6. I like Amy's attitude, and really................no one knows what may or may not happen....
  7. I have a Touch on order, but it will be a huge learning curve to properly use it. I know nothing about internet radio, music servers, etc. I haven't even installed my router yet! I'm hoping there are some user forums when I get it connected.
  8. My Sisters dog "Hershey" on Christmas morning after we gave her a new chew toy.
  9. Ok, I bought a router today...D-Link N300, another customer at Fry’s helped me since I was clueless, so hopefully this will be ok. I haven’t bought the receiver yet as I've been reading more about them. I think it's between the Logitech Squeezebox Touch and Grace GDI-IRDT200. The Grace looks more like a rack size audio component, but I kinda like how the little Logitech looks, (kinda like my Sirius Sportster currently in use). They both have RCA out, coax and toslink out, USB in. For an extra $100, I may be swayed toward the Logitech’s color touch screen vs. the Grace 4 line LED display. Regardless of which one I get, there is still a lot of research to be done. I still have no idea how to access these 17,000 stations I read about, and don’t even know what FLAC really means. Will be fun learning…
  10. gnatnoop, This looks like something I envisioned, but not sure yet about spending that much money although it looks very nice. I should first probably read up more on internet radio as I'm pretty clueless about what it offers and how I could benefit from a receiver like this. I also saw a model by Grace which had a USB input and digital outputs like this logitech model. Thanks for all the replies so far as I continue to learn more on this topic.
  11. The PC and receiver are in different rooms, that's the issue.
  12. I like to listen to various sources and currently use a Sirius receiver and a Sony HD receiver, but want to experiment with internet radio. So do I need a WiFi internet receiver or something? I don’t currently have a wireless network in my home, and no zero about this. Maybe I’m looking for something that can be a line input device to my main system?
  13. Hi, my name is Mark, and I'm a Leo from Texas, I like hot peppers and landscaping... Wanna be,.... the King of the Zulu's.........
  14. I have a Sirius mobile receiver connected to my home system and use the Sirius branded Terk antennae. Reception is not that great depending on time of day, and I agree that the fidelity is no where near CD quality. But like dtel, I like to scroll through the channels for different types of music. I've heard of Pandora and will need to experiment with that. Is it strictly PC based, or can you stream it to other components? I know absolutely nothing about the wireless streaming options, music servers, etc. On the other hand, my Sony HD radio receiver is absolutely great, just not a lot of stations that appeal to me where I live, but the reception is great with a huge sound improvement over satellite.
  15. FYI, This is a channel I didn't know about until this weekend. It seems to be the not always so popular versions of tunes, kinda like an "unplugged" version of tunes. I just heard an unknown version of Joe Walsh - Turn to Stone. I'm loving it....
  16. I'm selling off some analog things. I have a Parasound PPH-100 phono preamp I'll let go for $50 + shipping. PM or email if you are interested. Mark

  20. Two or three years ago I read a story of a mall or shopping center in Germany I think, where the wife could buy a ticket to put her husband in “daycare’ while she shopped. Seems like the coupons bought a beer or two, and the facility had TV, slot cars, etc. for the guys to play with for an hour or two. The article went on and on, but seemed like the guys had a pretty good time.
  21. Jay, Ok, deal! I'd try it......btw, I'm gonna pm or email you about something else soon.
  22. I eat peppers in some form or fashion every day whether it's fresh, canned, pickled, hot sauce, salsa, powdered or spice. I believe there is a "rush" or "high" sometimes, then you kinda zone out like Jay described. I'd try this pepper if I have a chance to.
  23. I was in the St. Louis area this week and noticed something I didn’t understand. Why are the outside A/C compressor units mounted on brackets maybe 2 feet off the ground? The newer homes seemed to have this. Maybe it has something to do with basements which I know nothing about. Mark
