  1. This is what it ended up looking like with the Chordsavers................, not too bad. Mark
  2. I happened to have my TV turned on today for the first time in months just for some background distraction. I saw a commercial for a new series…….Hawaii Five-O. I laughed out loud, give me a break. I MIGHT check it out, but nothing can replace the original Steve McGarret, Dan Williams, and Wo Fat.
  3. Good deal, I thought Peter Rivera may have been the singer but some of the searches were funny. Thanks, Mark
  4. I can’t seem to find a final answer on this; who was the lead singer of Rare Earth when Big Brother was recorded? Thanks
  5. The dimmer switch was on the floor, not the steering column. It has nothing to do with the type of headlights that were on the car rather how you activated the high beams. My first car, a hand me down 1969 Chrysler Imperial also had the switch/dimmer button on the floor. The car also had another button switch on the floor for a radio seek/search function.
  6. I remember reading an article, maybe National Geographic, about early primates discovered with puncture wounds in their skulls. Speculation was that big birds would plunge their talons into the brain, maybe through a certain area, killing the victim fairly quick. I suspect these birds did something like that. In the video with a couple of exceptions, the wolves went down pretty quick. It would be like us jambing our thumb into a candied apple or something. Mark
  7. Nice to read some good news, thanks for sharing.
  8. That's tough man. I like cats but don't have one, every cat I've ever been around has taken a liken' to me. Take care Michael. Mark
  9. I thought about trying that since I’m currently using XF-48’s and XL-23 up front and have a pair of WF-35’s not being used. But since I recently bought the XB-10’s with stands I’ll probably go with that instead for surrounds. In my smallish room the 35’s would have to be up against the wall and I don’t know how the rear ports would behave, probably not so good. After I connect things this weekend and listen for a while, I’ll probably see what the 35’s sound like for surrounds just to experiment.
  10. After looking around at rugs and thinking about this, I decided to try the Chordsaver things; decided I didn’t want a rug for several reasons. We’ll see how the dark oak finish works out. What I SHOULD have done when my kitchen was tiled last year, was lay a wire in the trough before the transition piece was put down between the kitchen tile and the living room flooring. I’m not gonna try to pry that up as I saw about a half gallon of adhesive poured down for that. Oh well, will see how it turns out. Seems like an effort for a speaker wire.
  11. Is there a limit on number of people for the tours? I won't know for certain for a day or two if I can attend.
  12. Coytee, I did think about routing the underside of the flooring for a wire channel; that would really look clean in a new install.
  13. Some great ideas I never thought of, thanks. The rug runner has it, Thanks Gil………..what an easy solution. Sometimes our thoughts just need more thoughts.
  14. Yeah Coytee, thought of those, actually it's kinda silly my situation. Haven't even had my TV turned on since late April, so the new surrounds are not too urgent. If my LaScalas leave this weekend (please), I hope to move things around.
  15. I need to run a wire from my rack to the rear of my room for a surround speaker. The left side of my listening area borders the breakfast nook, so there is about an 11’ section that the wire will have to be on the floor between the two areas. I’ve done this before for a short time before selling my previous surrounds and never concealed the wire, and it drove me crazy always seeing it on the floor. So now I’m looking for some way to sort of hide the wire. I’ve looked at those vinyl/plastic cord covers, and those would certainly work, and are cheap enough, but look a little too industrial or office-like. I found these: http://www.cabletiesandmore.com/chordsavers.php and one of the colors would closely match my listening area flooring, but they are kinda pricey. Any other thoughts?
  16. Very sorry to hear this, my thoughts are with you and your family... Mark
  17. Thanks for the replies, I was looking at a catalog the other day and was just thinking about trying one at some point. It would be strictly for 2 channel and I have all the separate components available for use. No rush, maybe a summer project when all the home chores are cared for.
  18. Without asking a lot of questions right now, what's the main differences, advantages, disadvantages, etc. of a receiver vs. integrated amp? Seems like a receiver has most all the input capability an integrated does, just the added display for FM and AM tuning. I'm sure there is a lot more involved than I realize. Thanks, Mark
  19. Something I'm curious about, say a speaker is rated at 86Hz-23kHz +/-3dB and the low frequency extension is 64Hz. Why isn't the lfe considered in the overall frequency response, and what does the lfe really mean as part of the specs? Thanks Mark
  20. My placements are similar to Stumac's, ~14 from wall, ~10 flanking the TV. No rear ports on the XF-48's, but rooms and placement can be night and day. I am entirely satisfied with the XL-23 center, it matches the towers. I honestly just really listened to it this past weekend and was not dissapointed.
  21. Thanks for the reply..........do you leave the speakers plugged in (powered) all the time?
  22. What Youthman said here is very impressive........... "I'm not here to impress anyone but me. " Great reply Youthman, I like the Icon stuff I'm playing around with now, so that's fine with me. I'm selling my LaScalas because they aren't right for me right now in this house. Greetings
  23. Thanks Jrod, I love it.when the LaScalalas are gone I'll have more room..... Even this medicore setup is fine with me for now......... cheers.............
  24. I feel you are wrong, we love all Klipsch products with in reason, one for another. I just gave away a great a great 5.1 surround system, that consisted of kgs and others. I think no matter what line you can make it work. This just coming from somone who has played around with a couple of differnt setups for my ht. nick Yeah Dude, Just had a moment there.....sorry folks for the rant............ My Icons are rockin' the house.........
