  1. My only suggestion would be to NOT put that plant on that fine speaker. No need for water stains.
  2. Sorry for bringing up some oldies. It looks like you might not be using the forum any more but......Any perceptions to relate? Anyone else that has been using this for years? Any input?Since I can get a good discount on this stuff I figured this might be a good idea. I know normally this type of wire is a fine strand type. I have been reading some other posts that solid wire is good for lows but not highs. So Does anyone know if a fine strand is also ok/good for lows? Or is it better to stick with a regular/medium strand type If I get any of this I think I would have to get a 500' roll. If I do this depending on the price is anyone interested in 250" of 12/2?
  3. Just remember to use a mask when you are moving it around. The dust is very bad to breath. But once it is on the ground there is nothing to worry about. The best way to do a whole lawn would be to mix the DE with some very dry sand ( buy a bag now and put in a place in the house so it will be 100% dry for spring) and then apply with a drop spreader to the whole lawn. The best thing to do would be to have your lawn aerified first then apply the DE/sand mixture. That way it can get down the holes and on the surface. The earlier the better.
  4. Found it! page 107. Since I did the auto mcacc I did not read the manual mcacc set up section. It seems to work. Any idea if I would need to do the mcacc again by changing that setting? or is it just when you move speakers?
  5. I just recently upgraded to a Pioneer Elite VSX-31. So far I seem to like it. But for the life of me I can not figure how to make it do 2.1 (or even 3.1) sound for music? I have looked through the manual a few times but I do not seem to be able to find any thing on it? Maybe I am blind? Anyone have any ideas? Music seems to sound best selecting Pure Direct but that is only in stereo 2.0.
  6. Ok So let me see if I have this right? If my receiver has 80 watts and my amp has 80 watts I only have 80 watts going to the speakers? Only the output from the amp will be cleaner than the receiver? Better sounding? I guess for some reason I was thinking 80 watt receiver plus 80 watt amp put 160 watts to the speakers. And that sounded silly to me.
  7. Over the years I have had KLH, Advent and now Klipsch speakers. I have always had Pioneer AV receivers. With all of my setups I have never been able to turn the volume up to full power. In general 1/2 volume was the most I would use for jammin just for the fact it was just too dam loud. So my question is this. Why would I need an additional amp to add more power? Is it just a way to waste money to get deaf quicker? Or is it a marketing ploy to get me to use more power so I will blow my speakers and buy more?
  8. 2 questions. 1st does it make any difference at what the volume level is set at while doing a MCACC test? Better low, medium or high? 2nd is there a golden rule as to surround placement (7.1 with side and back surrounds)? Like on the sides do you want exactly at the side (of your ears) or a little back or 3-4 feet? Below ear height, at or above? Then to the rears. Same height at the sides or higher/lower. Width. Same or less? 1 foot or more? I know there are lots of variables due to everything so I am just looking for a general guide line. Thanks
  9. Sounds like a good reason to drink more beer.
  10. Check this guy out. He has something for everything. http://www.jerrybaker.com/garden/information/tipsandtonics.aspx Here is a little something from his site. Q: How do I get rid of grubs in my lawn? A: Apply Milky Spore Powder any time the ground is not frozenits a biological powder that is very effective at controlling Japanese beetle grubs, and starts killing these grubs immediately. As each one dies, it releases even more Milky Spore disease into the soil, helping to protect your lawn for 10 years or more. Then follow up every 2 weeks throughout the growing season by overspraying the area with a mixture of 1 cup of dishwashing liquid, 1 cup of antiseptic mouthwash, and a 1 cup of tobacco tea, in a 20 gallon hose-end sprayer until early August.
  11. Get some skunks. They love grubs. You will just then have to deal with little dig holes all over. But for real try some "Diatomaceous earth". It is a good organic solution. This is from Wiki.....Pest control Diatomite is also used as an insecticide, due to its physico-sorptive properties. The fine powder absorbs lipids from the waxy outer layer of insects' exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate.[9] Arthropods die as a result of the water pressure deficiency, based on Fick's law of diffusion. This also works against gastropods and is commonly employed in gardening to defeat slugs.
  12. What we really need is a Star Wars 7 in 7.1 that is at least pg-13 and not made for 8 year olds.
  13. The wife might not like it if you get road rash on that?
  14. If those holes are threaded I can think of two easy one's? 1st to make it tight against the pipe take 4 3" bolts and make or buy some brackets and bolt to pipe. For the bracket take a piece of 7" x 3/4" x 1/8" steel and drill hole 1/2" from each end. then put speaker against the pipe with the brackets on other side of pipe put bolts through bracket around pipe and into holes in speaker. 2nd option to have away from pipe 1 to 4 feet. take some all thread put in speaker and then use brackets like in 1st option but make 4 of them. Take 4 nuts down all thread about 3-4 inches then washers then bracket then put on pipe then on other side of pipe do bracket, washers then nuts then tighten.
  15. When you limp for a week after you are 15 you could have limped for 5 mins? hows that? Make sense of nothing you will.
  16. The older you are the harder you fall. At 15 what made you limp for 5 mins will now make you limp for a week.
  17. Its a rear projection type. It might be bigger and heavier than a coffin but it still works great.
  18. Like LARRYC said.... Stay away from the petroleum based lubricants. Once you get them all over anything it will be all over your vinyl and needles. Not a good thing. Stick with the non-petroleum silicon. For RC cars they make a multitude of different viscosity's for shock dampeners. That is going to be your best bet.
  19. It sounds like if I could talk them down to 600 that it might be a good deal? Since I am going for a 9.1 system I do not plan on trying to fit 9 of those in my little room. I guess what it is coming down to is I am not in the boat to spend 3200 on the rf-7 now or 1200 on the rf-82 now and I am tired of my currant speakers that one set has bad surrounds that need fixing and the other has bad crossovers for the tweeter on both.............................................. I guess what I really need to know now is the Heresy II's Magnetically shielded? I just tried putting my new subs up front by the TV and it played havoc with the picture. I would hate to buy these and not be able to put up front by the tv.
  20. Are Heresy II's good for a home theater? I had planned on getting the rf-82 II for now until I could upgrade to the RF-7II. I just found these in a local classified. Does this sound like a good deal? $795.00 for new in the box,1 pair of oiled oak finish Klipsch Heresy II speakers with black grilles. Consecutive serial numbers. Never used, Perfect condition, still in original boxes. One of the serial #'s is H0017-98400016. I am not sure what year they are from? I guess my 1st question is will these be better than the RF-7 II for a HT? Second is that a good price? thanks. I just thought of one other thing. Are the Heresy II's Magnetically shielded? I just tried putting my new subs up front by the TV and it played havoc with the picture.
  21. Every so often Newegg has the RW-12d for $350.00. I just got two and they kick A$$. You will not regret it.
