I'm good w/any other dog on the planet except Rotts and Chows.

My wife's younger son in the Philippines got a Chow (crazy enough with the heat), and one of the grandsons is only nine. He can love on the dog, use him as a pillow, etc., and the dog just loves it. When we visited last July, my wife just started to reach out to pet him and he jumped at her and scratched the skin while biting her knee. Since there are so many strays in the Phils, right around the corner from the house is a "Dog Bite Clinic". She got a couple shots, a couple weeks apart.

I had told her that Chows weren't very safe to have around, but they had already had him a while. I kept trying to pet him, just by letting him rub against my leg when he would walk by. The day before we left. he was  letting me pet him. I'll probably have to start over when we go thee for Christmas this year.

Was that the Audio by Van Alstine board that you first put in?

No, it was the Curcio board. It was ok, but I wanted to try the Tubes4HiFi board, even if the layout isn't the best. I had also replaced the power tranny, as I thought the original got pretty hot, but that may just be TVA's power grid running at 125V. I do still have one of the large adjustable theater variacs that I could use to bring the voltage down a little, but it's a bit ugly. Not that anyone would notice in the listening room. It has that studio/lounge/garage look, especially now.

  3. I'm guessing you don't like Dire Straits?

I'm not sure how level matched these are, but the Heresy IVs sound very balanced. The LS sound a little weak in the bass, but I could tweak the to where I could be happy. Cornwalls still sound boomy to me, that could be the room, setup. The Forte IVs sound great, and the Heritage Jubilees massive, but very balanced..

Still, I'm listening on headphones, so who knows. I happen to like DS, but might have picked a  different song.

  4. I was ok with the bass from my LA Scalas. However, I did use a crossover that allowed me to the midrange a few dB. They sounded way more balanced that way. And turning them up to get more midrange also helps the bass fill in a bit more.

I used Bar Keepers Friend to remove water stains. I treated the whole surface, not just the stained areas. Have you sanded any of it?

That would surely get a more even look that could then be refinished.

    B b b bu but You've got Klipschhorns @dirtmudd!

Mine can go higher but I'm just not used to it now after three years without! A little time and I could get to the max stated SPL of 124!

    That would be TDL!

There it was from TX to Ohio over the weekend?  Totally clueless.  Yea, it's laying here.  Blah.  😂

That's some of your tax dollars at work. I don't mind that, and USPS pretty much has routes figured out.

Waiting for you to give a review...

A young Great Horned Owl posing on our fence. Another very close shot. When he was even younger, he almost took my hat off while I was working out back. I ducked just before he grabbed my hat. . I was wearing a grey one. Maybe thought a bunny on my head? Never seen anything like that before. Wife got a kick out of seeing that happen. Probably would have taken half my head off though to..  I didn't laugh at first...😃

We had a golden retriever who didn't want to sleep inside when he was little, so he ended up being mostly an outdoor dog. He was on a pretty long cable run and had one of those igloo style dog houses.

One evening after it was dark I went out to love on him and put more water out. Right as I turned back to the house a Barred Owl was gliding right over me . He had a good 4.5 ft wingspan, and nary a sound as he went past. To say the least, it startled me.

We rarely saw them, but heard them often in the summer.
