  1. Check out these prices!!! Scroll down to the news section on the homepage... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwiYzOi-kuzKAhWFcT4KHWx5B2QQFggcMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nosvalves.com%2F&usg=AFQjCNG8udjmy97C7dSEYiPc9G_qQnAHiw&bvm=bv.113943665,d.cWw
  2. What's it look like at 20hz, 10K, and 20K without filter engaged? Like to see what the whole bandwidth of the amplifier does.
  3. LOL!Most people don't like to spend money. Ya, but this set at this price is a no brainer, for the right guy!
  4. This should be gone! Wow, this is one plug and play system that will knock your socks off. Just plug in speakers, download your music, and you are done. Amazing deal here!!
  5. All your girlfriends fell in love with A1UC's stuff??
  6. WOW! Really putting these up ay.... My current reference, and never have I heard a small speaker that does what these do. Best combination of in room presence and soundstage accuracy I have ever experienced. Set these up right, and they completely vanish. GLWS!
  7. That's 60 HIGH current watts. It'll blow a new 100wpc receiver out of the water. Roger that

    12AX7 10m

12AX7's do not get better than these. The best sonics and they last forever...
  9. Capacitor choice definitely comes into play, but also one needs to know what transistors should be replaced, particularly the ones with known bad reputations. I have also had a crop of Marantz gear lately that needed allot of new transistors to sound right again. The transistors in the Marantz I am speaking of are the small signal transistors that look like cowboy hats, and they are all throughout the preamp sections. Also the square looking jobies that are slanted on one side. I just replace them all in the Marantz's preamps anymore. The importance of using test equipment cannot be overstated. I just need to figure out how to get faster at this job.....
  10. toche!! Unsubscribed. Do your worse guys. I'm out
  11. equally unnecessary. 2 wrongs?
  12. Pointless opinion. He's looking to beat someone up. Easy enough for me to see that I guess you can see inside his mind? I didn't take it at that. I took it as someone who is looking for opinions on an amp that he doesn't think is fantastic. Um.... He had a pair. Does he need some form of affirmation that what he thinks is correct? Maybe I was wrong.... His motive may be to buy another pair of VRD's.....??? As I don't know him personally, I can't say. Maybe he didn't use different tubes like others, maybe he didn't use the same speakers others used. But if someone were to say, I use x type speakers with x type tubes and my room setting is this, it would have given him a different view of things. When I was looking for my 1st tube amp, only 1 person on this whole forum actually took time to ask me questions, talk about my speakers, talk about measurements in my room and compression and then told me without having a bunch of those things done or answered, that I should try things myself as they couldn't give a good recommendation. Could there be the slightest possibility the OP may have gotten a different sound had he done things like some of the other owners? Maybe, but he was asking impressions and flat out said he's not looking to bash. That is my point Jim. No doubt you are a very noteworthy fellow, and I appreciate your candor. I perhaps should give some benefit of doubt, but when someone openly states nothing more than an opinion like the OP, I can't help but think it is an attack with no other variables presented about the situation, history of the use of the amps, system, room, etc..... If it is indeed an honest "why are these amps touted" then I regress.
  13. Ya, his credibility just went up several notches..... What a guy
  14. Oh my.... My daughter is 13. I think it is time for you to change your name again ace. Thaeddeus?

  16. I know, I think it's funny how the OP asks a simple question and people have to chime in with comments that read like it's out of a scientology pamphlet. LOL Let's see a square wave response of one of your "modded" amps? Right from that foldable table work bench you have......
  17. Pointless opinion. He's looking to beat someone up. Easy enough for me to see that. Just my opinion. Won't change
  18. You are trying to justify poorer performance for some reason. You are trying to say that if the designer of the amp designed the loading of that LTP correctly you would rather rely on perfectly matched twin triodes for AC symmetry? Good luck with buying perfectly matched twin triodes. The dual triode used for the phase inverter should probably last a lifetime, I would think it's much easier to just throw a tube in and adjust for AC balance, much easier than having to sort through hundreds of tubes for a perfectly matched twin triode. Why you people seem to think you know more than the engineer who designs these amps I don't know, and why you think you need to "roll" tubes. I suggest you sit down and do a little reading on differential amplifiers. Ok, I like to think I know a little on this subject. Here's a challenge for you..... Take the VRD's... Listen to them, all balanced up with new tubes. Then crank that AC Balance pot all the way one direction or the other. Tell me what difference you hear. My point is that this option is not that important, and I know damn well it isn't.
  19. I would stick a CCS at the tail to force AC balance. Pretty sure he would have if it was "that" important.....
  20. The whole point of you starting this thread has yet to be determined. Sounds like you have an ax to grind with Craig or something, otherwise, what could possibly be your motive here? Your response was predetermined. Pissing match? How? You started with saying something is ok, an opinion. You got other opinions. Did you expect the forum to jump on your bandwagon? Seems like you went through several amps until you found the one that colored the sound to your liking. Why go through this amp, that amp, another amp? This points to a source or speaker/room issue you are trying to correct, or we are dealing with someone that can't stand high frequencies and wants a rolled off amplifier. I have been in this game long enough my damn self.
  21. Yes I am. If I want to crank it up I want it to be running optimally, I am sure most people would. If there was no point to the balance control why would Craig put it in the amp? Personally if I was going to make a tube rollers dream amp I would stick a CCS at the tail to force AC balance. Would you buy a Porsche just to drive it 30mph? Are you serious? You are giving this simple AC Balance too much credit dude. It is for symmetrical clipping at max power, to give the best distortion numbers at max power. It is a nice option to give better specs, but I seriously doubt you are really going to hear its benefits enough to give a damn, so long as you put decent tubes back in the amps. Just my opinion. Put matched replacement tubes in the front end if you are worried about it. Why would anybody put a tube in the amps with a wore out triode anyways?? Sell your VRD's because if you swap one tube, you cannot readjust the AC Balance. Just like so many other wonderful amplifiers that do not have AC Balance adjustment.
  22. What is all the fuss with the VRD's? IMO, they are the cure for all the typically described negatives of both solid state and tubes. That sums it up quite nicely I believe. They are truth machines. If the truth they provide sounds "just ok", get a better source.
  23. Do you adjust the AC balance with an oscilloscope when you "roll tubes" in the "front end"? If not you are probably doing more harm than good. How is that exactly? You plan on running your amps at full power output all the time?? Give me a break man.... You serious with that?
  24. that's not true... I offered up a VPI classic 2 with HRX and Acrylic cover. that's more than generous. But with no amps, preamp or records what's a boy to do? Amps and tubes are sold. Records pending payment. Thank goodness! I was about to pull a A1UC and buy them because it was a great deal!!!!
