  1. Only if you're also using it to power your washing machine and dryer.Or dual JTR Captivator S2s….. Jeff told me it was best to have 1 dedicated 20amp circuit per Sub… darn electrician fees…
  2. I second what Scappy has indicated here. The THX line and KL-650s are by far IMO the best Klipsch speakers for serious movie enthusiasts available. Unless you move into the Procinema line that is these are the best. The only thing is they are expensive but I believe used you could have the LCR for around 3k or so. One downside is they are much more power hungry than the other Klipsch speakers. Distortion free ultra-clear and exceptional separation with these but at the cost of a power amplifier at higher volumes. The impedance drops can be huge with them so a powerful amp is important. These would be much easier to bring with you to another country though than RF-62II etc. I even like the way these sound for movies over the P39s I heard or any other Klipsch speaker. The Lascalas are very close and provide the large soundstage that these do as well. I’m sure some of the large heritage speakers and of course the cinema line provide even larger soundstages. I don’t like them for music though strictly a cinema speaker through and through!
  3. Looks mighty fine a great start for sure! How large is your space?
  4. Sorry again, I'm very new to this...So I setup the receiver to Stereo ALC because it's the loudest... I know that may sound dumb but the receiver at any other setting is extremely quiet. I mean volume at 50% and I barely hear anything but white noise (fuzzy sounds) and some vocals when listening to music. I know I probably need to add speakers and a sub to acquire the desired sound I want.. But I feel like the 2-channel setup shouldn't be this quiet! try it in stereo mode.
  5. I am hoping you use one of your soon to arrive JTR Captivator S2, dual 18" subwoofers with your new La Scalas!Well I definitely wouldn’t want to place a Cap S2 in the Lascala setup. That kind of output in a garage would clearly piss the neighbors off lol. Right now the plan is to have both JTRs up in the theater Co-located under the screen. I don’t want to have huge output in the low end region in the garage so maybe a small sub would be nice. Realistically I won’t be able to hook these up immediately as I need to finish up with the electrician for the JTRs and I want to do the Lens for the projector first. This was not a planned purchase but I’m not unhappy with the unexpectedness of it. I feel totally within my right to blame Youthman.yeah good luck with that! Once you see how huge these caps are compared to the "toys" you just sold, you aren't gonna be able to wait on that lens. Besides you might have to rethink the whole lens anyways as your house is about to be able to reproduce it's own earthquakes. Lol Totally excited for these. I have yet to hear 18 inch subs so this will be a very new experience and in room single digit response is sure to be surreal. I definitely will have to go with the fixed lens attachment on the projector as oppose to the sled as my original plans had been. I don’t know that I’ll remove the lens anyway as I don’t watch TV or sports etc on the screen. Ps if youth is to blame for these lascalas. You are definitely I blame for the dual jtrs.
  6. I thought this was one of nic cages better performances but I agree it doesn't warrant a second viewing.
  7. Just watched shadow recruit ... Meh. Nothing like the far superior hunt for Ted October, patriot games, and clear and present danger. I even liked sum of all fears ok.
  8. Bump for a good friend. C'mon guys a serious amp! For a great price!
  9. Carl I snapped a quick photo of my sub graph from the D2v processor. Now this was with all 4 on the phase at what we spoke about after the calibrated mic took 12 different positions of recordings and calculated the room EQ. The Red line was the measured, the blue dotted line is the targeted, and the green line is the calculated eq that the Anthem Processor applied. Wait a minute you use a D2 you probably already know all that lol. anyway the D2v definitely has some incredible processing power. Simply one of the finest pieces of equipment I have ever owned. Im sorry for the laziness of me just snapping photos off my computer instead of a proper screen shot. All thi aside I still plan to do what we discussed in our PM and have the dual caps set at 0 and let ARC perform magic.
  10. Dtel- I have thought of doing just that. I have some black quilts that I have no problem hanging on the walls. I would also like a Pissing of the Neighbors banner in there at some point. This bay of my garage doesn’t have a door the other side does. It is a tandem garage and we only use the right side. I’ll show you a better picture to better represent how large the space is. This left side is completely unused. I finished all the work in here about a month ago and have toyed with the idea of putting in a nice comfortable couch and getting my guitar/half stack amps again. I used to play music for years and it would be neat. I’m very excited to finally own some Lascalas. I had no intention of getting another pair of Klipsch speakers for a while as I was going to get some Triad gold monitors for the study, but as is such with life and here we are. Looking forward to meeting another forum member as well.
  11. Bill I definitely plan to do a bit of listening on them before taking them to my house. I wouldn’t mind hearing those Palladiums while I’m there too. The last listening sessions wasn’t what I expected

  13. I wouldn't say a mancave lol but certainly a large garage. After I pick up Billy's lascalas I'm leaning toward an mcintosh mc2505 amp and a c28 mcintosh pre. Not 100% sure which route I take. But some older gear sounds like fun
  14. Well I’m planning to pick up my first set of Heritage speakers next week. I have started to get their new home/spot ready and I thought would share a few photos of the location. Right now I just have a UPS and audio rack in place and I plan to put a Lascala on either side of it. Then I’ll look for a pre/pro to power them. I have read numerous difference of opinion on subs for them and I have every intention of adding a small sub to the mix eventually. Maybe a 10” sub to handle the low end since I know they don’t excel in this area. I’m not sure of the brand or the type that will go here but it should be an exciting mini project. Once I pick up the Lascalas (from a member) next week I’ll add some photos. They are going on the left side of my garage as I spend a lot of time outside and I will actually get to enjoy them in here. I just finished epoxying the floor last month and these should look and sound spectacular in this large space.
  15. I'm not a BB fan either.. Internet direct!
  16. Not when I ran the sine wave test, I don’t use main+lfe or anything I have my entire system crossed at 80hz. I pan to leave the crossover set at 80hz for the new subwoofer installation as well but I’m sure these new sealed subs will play different and be 4 times the output. I’m not sure why they don’t have phase control on them. Now when we did this in his house it was a slight different tone we got but still yielded the best bass. Michael arrived after we finished most of the initial setup. We then played an excerpt from a movie and also listened to a concert dvd of the eagles 4db past reference. Of what we heard the Subs and bass were definitely the show stealer and not lacking in depth punch or evenness. Youth I believe will agree here. When we listened to them they were all 4 engaged and the settings at what you see in the photo provided by Youth. In every other installation I have always just set the sub to 0 if on the main wall 180 on the rear or 90 on the sides. I just helped a friend this past weekend install HSU 7.1 speaker system in his house in which we set his subwoofer phase to 0 as it was in the front corner of his room behind the tv. First time I have heard HSU speakers but they were very detailed and sounded nice. His sub went fairly low too as I could easily feel the 20 hz material. Ok off topic there!
  17. My impression on this new Reference sound bar…. It clearly was not created for us (snobby forum members lol) as others have stated the majority of us are in a different echelon of home theater and 2 channel music listening. Now I’m not saying it wouldn’t be a nice addition for many of us for say a nice flat screen tv in a bedroom or kids room with not having to run wires. It would produce some nice sound that far surpasses any of the tv speakers out there (with the exception of the old kuro TVs). I recently visited a local magnolia center with a friend that wanted to install a sound bar and we had a listen to this and also a Sonos bar. Now he ended up with the sonos as it provided even better clarity and separation and had very nice options of wireless blue tooth speaker additions but it was also at twice the price point. The new reference sound bar definitely is the best sounding of all the klipsch sound bars I have heard and it looks fantastic with the gold emblem and drivers. I just don’t see that it needed to be named reference as I’m sure it would have sold the same amount in numbers had they called it something else. Reference is term on here that has become a part of our daily vocabulary and not something to be thrown around lightly. Klipsch’s name should have been enough for enthusiast or beginning enthusiast to seek out more info and be introduced to the one and true reference line we have all come to appreciate. Again this is probably only bothering those who have dropped some serious coin on the actual reference line
  18. Hey guys a forewarning this will be a long detailed response. You are welcome to scold me for such craziness after reading for my ridiculous long response… Now that we are underway, this is what I experienced with the phase adjustment. Normally wholeheartedly I agree with you guys. When I was In the beginning stages of my theater I did as others suggested and placed 1 sub on the middle of each wall balanced but not practical for my room. Tried stacking 2 in each corner (created the most bass but bloaty and boomy) and then after looking at several photos of peoples theaters with subs directly under their screen or behind their screen on the main wall including the picture from the THX ultra 2 brochure I figured why not try these 4 subwoofers co-located in a row on the main wall. Aesthetically I liked the way it looked that way but I wanted to see if I could get better in room response. This is what I found. It yielded the best in room response for my particular room for each of the 4 seats in my theater. Now if I had a even larger theater with a couple tiers of seats that may have been different but I can get excellent deep and powerful in room response with all 4 under the screen front and center. I’m not saying it is great for every room but it certainly worked the best in my particular room. Now with all 4 located on the front wall I of course set the phase on both KA-1000 amplifiers to 0 as would any of us sat back ran Mcacc at the time and it sounded great. I spent a lot of time messing with each control on the amps such as THX on or off (definitely recommend off) and Boundary gain compensation (definitely off) etc. Now I always understood it that 0 on the front wall, 180 on the back and 90 on side walls. I began reading further about people having subs next to each other and tweaking the phase a bit (some peoples avrs or processor allow them to slowly adjust phase while sitting in their seat via a remote) to get it where they hear the constant bass tone/sine wave at a set volume to feel and sound the deepest. I figure why not try it. What I attempted was first setting the phase on my two L KW-120s which was just slightly above 0 which gave me the best sounding even bass from my seat or MLP. Just a touch over 0 and I felt that resonating deep bass to be the most even. Now when I turned on the right two subs on my other KA-1000 amp to the same phase it sounded just fine and even but sitting in my seat I had my wife very slowly turn it up in small increments as and she would get further away from the other 2 subs phase I felt it slowly get a little deeper. The volume on both amp and in the processor stayed the same during the test. The further I turned the phase up the deep it got in all 4 seats as I swapped back and forth to make sure and just at about 90 degrees from the first setting they sort of worked together and gave me the deepest bass from each seat in my theater. If I were to turn it up past 90 degrees it would start to lose that resonating bass. Now this may be a strange anomaly for my particular room but I did try the same method just out of curiosity in my friend’s house who purchased the KW-120s and I asked him if he heard and felt what I did (this was just before Michael came over) and he agreed. I’m not sure why to be honest but it is completely subjective I would assume. Now this could have been all 4 passive co-located subs acting strangely with one another on my wall I’m not certain. With them at this setting when I ran ARC when I first purchased my D2v processor I did get a nearly perfect flat response from all 12 mic positions when running ARC with them phased this way. ARC has you move the boom/mic and stand too twelve different locations as it runs its test to get a good in room response and I can upload my old graphs tonight for everyone to see). All this being said, when my two JTRs coming this week after I have them properly installed I plan to have them in a similar location now that I have power con power cables run there etc it makes sense to leave them there and I will probably leave them phased at 0 since there isn’t a phase adjustment knob on the plate amps apparently and see what arc does for them in my room. hopefully I explained this the best I could from what I experienced but I could be completely wrong and someone may be able to explain why this happened I’m unsure. Again with the Dual Cap S2s I will only be able to adjust phase with my processor and most likely ARC will set it up correctly for me unless I use REW sub software.
