  1. The pros are here today! The track is down and the first layer of 1/2" is going up. It will be followed up by a layer of 5/8". Progress is nice!
  2. Your room is going to be wonderful! Nice work! Thanks for sharing!
  3. They're phone pics, but my boy and his Great Dane are inseparable. Ok I'm done.
  4. Hard to believe the "new stadium wave" of the 90's is twenty years past already! I'm a big Braves fan also and was surprised to hear of their new stadium coming in 2017! And in regard to the pine tar - at least the Braves wasn't quite Michael Pineda (NY Yankees) on the neck obvious!
  5. There's a reason they make it look like an RC 3... :-)
  6. Daryl - you are correct - I hadn't even looked yet! RC 3 it is. Still haven't hooked them up - May be later in the week. I'm grateful to have found this out for the price I did - I was pretty zeroed in on the chorus's. But lesson learned - slow the heck down and pay attention! :-)
  7. +1 I bought the Panasonic VT50 plasma 65" a couple of years ago, I think the picture quality is unrivaled. That said, I had come from a cheaper Mitsubishi 1080i projector on a 106" screen and I can tell you I miss the size! We are on the path back to a projector and screen, I miss the cinematic feel of that. If your room can handle it - and IMHO if you are movie watchers - go bigger.
  8. No I'll probably plug it into my XPA 5 - I have some blue ray concerts with the PCM stereo and figured I'd listen between the two that way. I have an older pair of MB Quart towers at work that I stream pandora on - I thought I may take it there - it has nothing for decoding, but 110W x 7 (I think) shouldn't lose TOO much running two channels. But to answer your question, I'd like to give the Chorus's a little more gas than the receiver.
  9. Thanks all! Youth you're right - SS 1's they are. Yes they are huge K5! I'm very curious to give them a listen. I'll maybe contact Klipsch and see if I can order a new grill for the RC 3.
  10. Well - this was a nice deal! The Chorus's are in good shape, the RC 3 needs dusting and the grill cover has two broken tabs on the inserts, he gave me two surrounds with stands - I haven't looked up the model numbers yet and an older Yamaha HTR-5760 receiver! I had no intention of buying these - but the deal got sweet the night before the moving truck arrived! We have company from out of state coming tomorrow so I don't know how long before I can do some A/B listening but here are some pics for now! I haven't dug yet but feel free to chime in with the surround model number.
  11. On my way to pick them up! :-)
  12. Yeah I think so I'm at the store running errands and put this up as soon as I got the text from a friend. I'll update. He said the RC3 and a couple of small surrounds for $200 - pretty big no brainer.
  13. Someone locally is about to drop price on an original pair of Chorus, an RC 3 center and a pair of surrounds (smaller don't know model numbers), moving this week sale. They look very well cared for (a mutual friend has seen them said they're in great shape). I have never auditioned the Chorus before - I have a hunch what this group will tell me to do, but can someone describe the sound to me. I have no need of them. I don't have upgradeitis yet as a still content owner of the rf 7ii's, but I think I could probably flip them even though the Alaska market is pretty thin on Klipsch. Any thoughts are appreciated. Oh yeah they're now asking $200.
  14. I have an Elite VSX 53 and I'm running to the Emotiva XPA 5. I think it probably is a bit of overkill like Schu said, but I was able to get a great deal on the receiver and so that swung the pendulum for me.
  15. Apologies - I think I posted this in the wrong section - I'm not sure how to move it to the alerts tab. (if someone can assist) This is not my listing.
  16. $350 for a pair of original Chrous and $100 for an RC 7 I think there are a couple other Alaskans on this forum. We have other commitments at present. http://anchorage.craigslist.org/ele/4477239318.html
  17. Thanks Cal. But I just can't understand why you aren't willing to give up an entire weekend to reading through this thread. I'm sure anything is a possibility but I just don't see it happening. Three LaScalas up front is more than enough from what I've heard so far. Youth, "more than enough" is quite relative and subjective! You're just farther down this hole than many of us and I am already excited to read your KHorn review! Since we're all pretty accomplished at spending each others money... Get on with it!
  18. A little more progress today. Got most of the way through the soundboard.
  19. Updated the addition thread in the architectural forum, just advising here as architectural gets much less traffic. Thoughts, suggestions, comments very welcome. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/145598-addition-theater-room-sound-insulation/
  20. During and post insulation. I probably should have done my "after" after I swept up, but - you get the idea.
  21. Post clear out, pre insulation. The tape on the wall are the screen sizes I'm toying with.
