  1. Wondering if general consensus here is that the radio shack ones are just fine of the job. Really wanting only To make sure I am level matched. But want to make sure it is pretty damn accurate. Any suggestions on good reliable one?
  2. i have never heard this sub, but i have read many reviews saying that it is not the most musical sub out there. most seem to like the rsw series. i would say you could try and find a used one but it would be bad to pass the 300 dollar deal up then when you can't find a good deal on a used rsw the other deal be off. but i do know that they do that deal quite often so might be worth a shot. im sure others on here would agree.
  3. When you say wired for in walls, do you mean wires are all ran in the wall with a small piece hanging out? Or are there already holes cut for speakers? Cause pre wired does not limit you to in walls. You can cut a small rectangle out for the in wall speaker terminals and put whatever speakers you wanted in there. Then just buy some nice speaker cables from user nezff and the little that is out for others to see will be gorgeous wire! Also in my opinion I think you should consider giving the rc-64ii a shit. I know the rc-62 is the matching series, but the 1" tweeter in that is not timbre matched by any means to the 1.75" tweeter in your rf-7ii's. I think if you could afford it you would be much happier. If you haven't heard one it's worth a shot. My two cents. But killer room you got there. Looks big and gorgeous wood floors. My kind of style! Can't wait to get in my first house.
  4. Do you know that the rc-62 and the rc-64 have waaaay different tweeters??
  5. No problem moomoo! Make sure whatever you end up going with rb-61 or rf-62 that you get the rc-62 to match it. As far as receiver matching, klipsch has a very efficient horn driven tweeter. So with that being said, you want to look for something "warm" sounding vs something too "bright". I'm not sure where Yamaha rates on that scale. Like I said I'm an onkyo man. They are great for home theater. Not so much for music. Good bang for your buck in my opinion. What are you wanting to have in the long run? 5.1, 7.1? Wanting the rf-62 up front with the rb-61 in the rear? More movies and video games or more music? Let us know a little more.
  6. first off let me say welcome to the forum!! [H] second off let me say to you since you are getting into this hobby that you will save your self alot of time and money if you piece togehter a system and buy what you want as you go you will be much happier in the long run. with that being said, always try and future think everything as much as you can. are bookshelves what you ultimately want? or just fitting that into your budget first? cause you will want some good stands if you buy bookshelves. almost always end up spending the same for the same size but in a tower version of it (rf-62). also dont look at msrp for klipsch stuff. you can give mike a call at acoustic sound design and you can get stuff below retail. rb-61ii's should be able to be delivered to you for 399.00, and i believe i was quoted for 779.00 for rf-62ii. one thing you dont want to skimp on is center channel and subwoofer. but you also dont want to buy the biggest center and then only get rb-61's to match. try to pick a good set and shoot for aquiring the whole thing. as far as the marantz stuff goes, i can't chime in on those. i am an onkyo man myself. but someone will chime in soon for ya. welcome once again! if anymore questions just ask us!!
  7. Hey Dan sounds like a plan. Me and my wife both get out of the military in November this year so if your here by then I would love to come hear it all!!
  8. Lol! I own a cheapy Sony one for like 50 bucks from wal-mart. It gets the job done when I don't want to watch blu-rays. I'm not sure how much longer you could hold off on hd. It's kind of becoming the norm.
  9. Also not sure that you would need the rs-52's with the front soundstage. I had rf-82's up front and felt that y rs-42's kept up just fine with that setup. I feel they don't even doa a bad job keeping up with my current 63/64 combo. Food for though. The money saved on those could be put elsewhere.
  10. Call acoustic sound design and ask for mike. You ain't gonna find a better deal. Should quote you around 399 shipped to your door. Let us know how it goes!
  11. Any idea who it is? I'm not sure how to search locations on here of certain members besides just looking at profiles.
  12. Will you be trying to find a used older pair or get the newer generation ones? If so make sure you don't pay retail for them. They can be had for 400$ with a phone call to the right dealer!
  13. being rear ported means obviously means that the port fires in the rear of the speaker. will this affect sound in your enclosed space? very much so. will this affect sound if you had them open in the rear to another room? very much so again. if i were you and you had the space i would upgrade to the rb-61 and you can flush mount them with the rear closed and they will sound just fine. plus i have read that they are quite an upgrade over the 51's for a minimal price.
  14. so i am wondering if palladiums are just like the rest of klipsch items. can they be found at certain dealers for a discount off msrp. i can't seem to find any info on where to even buy these at.
  15. So I'm dying to hear something from the heritage line. I want to know what all the craze is about and how glorious these actually are! Would love to come have a listen
  16. If you dont like the look of the thx you'll prolly really dislike the cinema stuff. Look up klipsch jubilee. They are not attractive at all in my opinion as they are made for theaters where they are hidden. You can call mike at acoustic sound design for the best deal in reference stuff. Not sure if they carry palladium. But for your price you could swing all new top of the line rf series. Separates and maybe a descent screen with projector. Or if you want used you could get much more. But I have only purchased a couple things used. But I would rather purchase new anyway of the week. Lots will disagree with me. But something about having new that makes me much more comfortable.

    sub advice

You have yet to tell us your budget. We can reccomend dual pb-13 ultras all day but if 1500 is your budget then it all depends in wether or not you want to go dual Subs, want something attractive, stuff like that.

    sub advice

is the sub worth 2000 buckskinI haven't even got to use it a whole lot but I say hands down, worth every penny
  19. Did your older Sony's have an analog dial that actually gad a min and max stopping point? If so I can tell you that I have owned a few older Sonys and a few old technics stereo receivers when I first got into audio and those older analog models are waaaaay different in a volume sense. I think they were just more sensitive. I bet if you cranked them to 75-80% speakers would just start destroying themselves. I have the onkyo 805 and it's a beast! I keep my volume on relative in stead of absolute, and mine doesn't start getting loud till about -10db or so. Which I think if you switch to absolute is around the 75 area. So you have nothing to worry about.

    sub advice

I have the pb-13 ultra and holy cow it's amazing!!
  21. I think he meant sub crossover disabled and crossover on the receiver at 80 for the sub
  22. All sounds good except for setting the avr to 0 for the sub channel. Let you avr decide that when it does the room correction. And if it's all the way negative after the results turn the sub down a notch or two and re run it. You basically want to know your sub volume is as high as it can be without the receiver adding any gain.
