  1. Well that a big plus...It wouldn't shock me if its made China though....or at least 90% Chinese parts. They can make quality gear if the vendor requests it. Of course then they thieve the design and cut the vendors throat LOL!!
  2. By the way you must be in good spirits or just wore the F out....I can't even get a rise out of you!
  3. Its all magic....don't double guess just believe
  4. ahhh those F'ing Chinese the damn thing probably sounds okay to boot! Hell the damn thing has VU meter at $83 This really is a frustrating business LOL!!!
  5. with the 1.2 VAC to full power rating of the XPA amp the over all gain should not be a huge issue the VRD amplifiers have about 20% more gain. I thought I had heard of others having noise issues with the XPA line of amplifier coupled to Juicy Music gear in general. I think its just a poor match from some other aspect. SS and tubes do not always play well together. heck tubes /tubes or SS/SS can duke it out at times
  6. Yea he stuck me for a few bucks for parts on order on his way out.
  7. I'm not far from it I actually think its beneficial...
  8. Not surprising....you always have had a selective memory
  9. Dean you are the most guilty of Jealously when it comes to Greg.... I could probably list 50 different helping hand type things I have given you over the years for your business that I have never received credit for...who cares..give it up dude it makes you look petty.
  10. The point was not to care about audiophiles....the point was that Volti Audio's customer base are high end, high dollar audiophiles not the normal Klipsch customer base so they are not competing for the most part.
  11. Talk on forums, get to know people and get your impressions from people that are not making a living in any aspect of the audio business (yup that includes me)...and then you have to realize that no two people on the planet hear the same, no two rooms are the same and person preference is a huge deciding factor...NO BEST EXISTS IN AUDIO. The best is what pleases you the user and owner of your system.
  12. Nope I just have never read reviews in the rags that I would consider consistantly honest...have you ever seen a audio rag come out a say a product was shite? The reviewer are all indirectly paid by the companies of the products they are reviewing.... not exactly conducive of untainted opinion.
  13. I have no problem with that line of thinking and I bet Greg wouldn't either!
  14. Zip, Zero, Nadda If I don't See it with my own eyes, touch with my own hands, hear it with my own ears and test it on my own bench I take it with a grain of salt....
  15. Well you might put weight in things coming out of that rag but I sure don't. And it surely doesn't mean the speaker is a widely accepted by the high end audiophiles....
  16. People in general....no one specific' its human nature. I have dealt with the same shitty *** treatment from many around here for 17 years.... sure Greg said some stupid shite around here years ago....folks need to get over it. We all say stupid shite now and again (especially me). Greg makes some flat out awesome horn speakers. If I could afford them I'd be jumping to buy a pair...
  17. What kills me is that VPI shares almost nothing with amplifiers reputation its trying to ride! The only tube Type it shares with the original 299D is the none audio related 5AR4 rectifier........by the tube compliment I'm fairly sure it employs a solid state phono section' What a advertising Scheme.... PS not trying to rain on your parade I'm sure its a nice amp that sounds great' but the naming and advertising song and dance make my stomach turn.....
  18. A few more questions.... 1) I take it you have been able to use the EMO amp with other equipment without the noise issues? 2) what brand, age and history are the 3 audio tubes in the peach ? These would be the 6DJ8 or 6H30 tubes not the 12X4.... 3) Is the noise similar in either mode low or hi Z?
  19. Josh', Good for you.....much of the uproar in my opinion is flat out jealousy. Greg had the vision to see an opertunity to do something he enjoys while making a few bucks and others recent him for doing so. I say good for him for having the balls. He really is not vying for the same customers as Klipsch for the most part. Most of his customer base would put there nose way up in the air at anything Klipsch! Face it in the general audiphile world Klipsch is not all that well thought of I'm surprised you don't own the Vittora speakers! Greg's stuff really does sound great.
  20. Actually the published specs of 1.2 volts ac to rated power and the rather low 22k sîngle ended RCA input the peaches low z output should work well with that amp'
  21. Okay so before it sat for X amount of months you had no problems after the cleaning we went through before? What speakers and more importantly what amplifier were you using it with when you had no problem? Is the amplifier your using also different now with the noise problem present? I suggest everyone allow the OP to answer a few questions first to help narrow down the possible cause before tossing out all kind of suggestions which can cause confusion. I'm not trying to blame the amp having a defect so don't get the wrong idea.
  22. Your memory has not failed you! Yea I had a mouse die an electric chair like death in my Juicy Music BBX the funny thing is the preamplifier just kept working... I found it inside in a rock hard petrified state when doing some changes to my system. Without the mouse in place the BBX would no longer work from a fried trace on the circuit board. The mouse was completing the connection! The tread title was "juicy Music builds a better mouse trap" or something along those lines.
  23. To me the Tube Nirvana preamp has a better chassis/face plate/ overall build quality compared to the tubes4hifi SP12. It costs about the same (with tone controls) and $50 less without which I believe is the only way the SP12 is offered.
