  1. I saw this new Audigy 2 ZS support DTS-ES. How's the performance? any sound differences from DD5.1? If not, I'm thinking to buy Audigy 2 ZS. I'm lazy to plug the wires to DD5.1 everytime I want to watch DVDs (using DD5.1 with my computer)
  2. I have Promedia 4.1. I've been using DD5.1 for almost a year and yesterday I realized that I need a lot of BASS When I'm using the sounds from the sound card (Audigy 2), I can hear enough bass. How can I configured the bass as loud like when I'm not using DD5.1? I'm thinking to get myself Pioneer to replace my Promedia 4.1 + DD5.1 becoz to this
  3. I doubt nforce2 sound card beat Audigy 2 and the DICE thing... I read the review, it didn't sound well
  4. I turn on my DD5.1 at -2 (main volume) and my Promedia 4.1 at about 80% when watching movies
  5. Most today receiver support DTS, Dolby, etc. A good receiver price isn't expensive
  6. I used monster cables from Klipsch. I noticed the mid sound quality is increasing Worthed or not? hmm.. if you have some spare money, why not?
  7. Can't do that unless you plug the speakers connector to the card (not into DD5.1)
  8. Wait until Doom III released. You will feel glad that you have DD5.1
  9. It's better to play games with EAX without DD5.1 becoz DD5.1 will detect EAX signal as 'Stereo' signal. Wait for Doom III which support Dolby Digital 5.1. Must be sounds very nice with DD5.1
  10. you need a mini mono cable - RCA
  11. PowerDVD can encode DTS/Dolby but using DD5.1 is WAY MUCH BETTER. You miss a lot of sounds watching DVD with PowerDVD I used Klipsch monster cables and noticed mid improvement
  12. Here's what happened when I was using Santa Cruz: when I plugged the cable from Versajack to DD5.1, DD5.1 display DTS (depending on what DVD you are playing) BUT as soon as I plugged the speakers cables to DD5.1 --> 'Unknown Input'. Of course there was no sound. It didn't happen with SB Audigy
  13. Justin: me? kidding? of course not. I only said what I've read on the review. In my country, there almost no one buy AE and with no local distributor support that card, who wants to buy it? Perhaps we can make a poll, What sound card is the best today? Me choose Santa Cruz (too bad can't work with DD5.1)
  14. Don't know about Acoustic Edge but I read on many reviews that the card isn't too good
  15. ---------------- On 10/4/2002 12:00:24 AM thebigdog wrote: I am planning on revamping my audio system at home. My current "system" is not note-worthy to mention. My friend has a Promedia 5.1 system and he strongly recommend me to get it. I look into it and since i have a Tivo (optical output) and everything I am thinking about getting the DD-5.1 SYSTEM (w/ the speakers) on Klipsch. I have a few questions come into my mind.... 1)Which sound card should I get? The primary focus of the system will be DVD MOVIES AND MUSIC. Gaming comes second. I have looked and kinda narrow it down to Santa Cruz, AE, and GTXP. I am open to suggestions. Here is what I want to do...I want to use the digital output of the sound card (digital coaxial) to output any 5.1 stream digitally to my DD-5.1 for it to decode and playback via the promedia 5.1 speakers. 2)For my music (mp3), I would like to use the Promedia 5.1 as the output speakers also. However, is that possible to do via the DIGITAL output of the sound card? (I would imagine the SC need to an Analog to Digital chip for this?? and I am not sure which card can or cannot do.) People talk about 5.1 mp3, is that possible w/ the digital DVD setup that I mentioned in 1)? Or do I need to use the analog output of the sound card to do this? if so, can someone describe how to archieve this w/ the DD-5.1 system (wiring)? 3)Last but not the least, GAMING. How should it be wired for gaming? I undersatnd that most game do not support digital out (maybe I am wrong?) and so I need to have speakers connected to the analog output of the sound card for this. Again, how can I archieve this w/ the DD-5.1 system? I am kinda confused because I see many way of wiring the system depending on the situation. Is there a easy way to go about it instead of swapping wires whenever I want to go from one to another? As you can see I am a bit confused here, please advice. Thanks in advance. ---------------- Santa Cruz can NOT deliver DTS/Dolby Signal to DD5.1 so I guess you have no choice unless to buy Audigy or Audigy2 card
  16. It's useless to use DD5.1 for playing games but wait Doom III released becoz the game will support Dolby 5.1 Ex: in the game like 'Mafia', don't try to use DD5.1 becoz the sounds will come only from your front speakers There are a LOT significant differences between using PowerDVD and DD5.1. The sounds is more richer and clearer. Like in the movie 'Saving Private Ryan', you will feel that you are really in the Ohama Beach Before I used DD5.1, I thought DTS/Dolby Digital sounds are just like that (not suprised). Now, after I used DD5.1, I NEVER want to watch DVD without it You need to buy Audigy. Santa Cruz CAN NOT send DTS/Dolby signal to DD5.1. The Santa Cruz tech support said it can but hell with them, my DD5.1 IS NOT working Tell me if there's a way to use Santa Cruz. I don't like to listen music with Audigy, the sounds is better with Santa Cruz
  17. I used DD5.1 with my computer and it sounds great but you need to replace Santa Cruz with Audigy because Santa Cruz can't deliver DTS/Dolby signal thru Versajack
  18. I'm wondering is there any sound differences between Dolby Digital from Audigy than Dolby Digital from Klipsch Dolby Digital Decoder?
  19. Is it weird that I saw my Promedia 4.1 made in USA? in fact, don't you think it should written made in China?
  20. Nope. Using the driver from the CD or the latest driver is same. It won't affect DD5.1 Dream: can you hear anything when playing mp3? DD5.1 should detect 'PCM - Stereo' and only front speakers active
  21. PilgriM: I had the same problem with you here. I live in Indonesia and no dealer shipping DD5.1 here. You're asked about the voltage. In Indonesia, we used 230 volt and I know that DD5.1 is 120 volt. Here's what I did: buy a new adaptor, it should have 1000ma and 12v output The only way is ask your friend to buy it in USA I have the 4.1's too and DD5.1 works very well. I'm think I won't buy 5.1 Justin: I connected DD5.1 with my computer and very satisfied with the sound This message has been edited by ewn on 08-29-2002 at 06:09 PM
  22. Before I go to work this morning today, I installed Santa Cruz again and did what Turtle Beach tech support said and since I got the cables, why not give them a chance? The result is: Santa Cruz CAN deliver DTS/Dolby signal BUT... after I plug the speaker output to DD5.1 (purple and green jack), there was no sound and the display from 'DTS' suddenly changed to 'Unknown Coaxial' I am really tired with this kind of problem so now I've decided to buy Audigy instead and live without any DTS/Dolby problem. Bye2 Santa Cruz... and now I'm proud I am the only one in Indonesia (I think) who has Klipsch Dolby Digital Decoder
  23. First, enable the 'Digital Output Only' on Audigy then go to 'Setting' and DISABLE 'AC-3 decode'. Don't forget to change PowerDVD speaker output to 'SPDIF' Justin: this is what Turtle Beach replied The Santa Cruz will pass DTS/Dolby Digital out the versajack to your external DTS/Dolby Digital decoder. You need to set the audio setting in your DVD software player to S/PDIF. You will also need to get a 1/8 inch stereo mini jack to dual RCA cable. Connect the 1/8 inch end to the yellow versajack and connect only the RED RCA to the digital input on your speakers. What do you think? will it work? because I'm too lazy to install Santa Cruz now
  24. Just want to everybody knows that finally my DD5.1 is WORKING! This message has been edited by ewn on 08-28-2002 at 08:42 AM
