  1. Hello All, Well I finally sprang for a new receiver. Went from a 2001 model HK AVR510 to a 2004 Model HK AVR430. I was also looking at the Denon 2805 and Marantz SR5500 I liked the sound of the HK with Klipsch so I decided to stick with them. My question will I notice a difference in sound music wise and or in Home Theatre? They are simualr the 430 has more features and is much newer. AVR430 = 7 X 65 watts per channel ( 2 X 85 watts stereo mode ) AVR510 = 5 X 75 watts per channel ( 2 x 85 watts stereo mode ) I hope I made a good choice. The HK and Klipsch seem to make a good combo. Thanks, PS also.. Is this too much receiver for my speakers? or is there never too much SB3 Mains - KSW12 Sub - Quintett Rears - SC1 Center
  2. IM a little leary about UBID. I bought my Current Harman Kardon refurbed with warranty from them Has had to be repaired over 3 times. Keeps loosing a channel. But i may buy a Marantz Refurbed from www.accessories4less.com
  3. A few more questions would you guys go with another HK and take a chance? I was very happy with the sound when it worked. Heres my final choices. HK AVR 335 Marantz SR5500 ( #1 pick ) Didnt hear much input on Marantz Sound though with Klipsch Denon AVR 2105 ( supposely sounds smooth ) Pioneer 1014TX Just a bunch of good reviews
  4. I would love to get a seperate amp. But my HK receiver only does 5.1 and also I dont have the room for the extra equipment ( extra amp ). Im leaning towards a Marantz SR5500 This is going to my speaker setup in my apartment. Do Marantz have a smooth sound or a harsher bright sound? Im also going to really look into that pioneer 1014 listed above!
  5. Anyone else have any experience or suggestions? Anybody have any experience with Marantz and Klipsch or any other brands? Im looking for a smooth sound like my HK had. So far im thinking either Denon or Marantz
  6. I hear Yamaha and Klipsch sound bright. Anyone have any info on Marantz and Klipsch. My HK seemed to make a good match I just cant deal with the quality issues I had with it.
  7. Ok looking at the Pioneer 1014 now as well. Any views on the units I listed above? Also any other recomendations out there?
  8. Hello, All Im a long time member but have been silent, just reading for a while now. Heres my problem I have a Harman Kardon AVR-510 great receiver to an extent. I have had it for a few years and numorous times 1 of the channels have died and had to be repaired. Its broken again and I dont want to repair it yet again. Now its the center channel it has been extremely un reliable. I dont know if HK has improved so I have looked into a few alternatives. Here is a list of the receivers I had in mind. DENON 2105 NAD T743 ( dont know if i can afford but wanted to add ) MARANTZ SR4500 MARANTZ SR5500 ( more $$ but can afford as a refurb ) MARANTZ SR5400 HARMAN KARDON? ( dont know if i want to chance anymore ) Im really looking for some real advice & experiences. Please help me choose. Feel free to add other suggestions at or around $500 Im looking for one that will sound nice and not too harsh with my Klipschs My setup is listed in my sig.
  9. Havent been here in a while guys. Been very busy with other stuff. But havent forgot about you guys! Justin Sent me a msg the other day his site is looking killer. I havent changed my HT around much But Maybe a new reciever or speakers soon who knows I think if i moved to reference klipschs it would make more of a diff then moving to a diff reciever. What do you guys think On another note yesterday was my b-day 24.. Its startin to catch up lol
  10. Cool thanks for all the replys guys. I was a little confused at first.
  11. I own a Harmon Kardon AVR-510 So I dont have Pro Logic II like the 520 But I hear that logic 7 is basically the same thing. Emulates a 5.1 sound from a 2.1 source. My parents have a yamaha with PLII It sounds simular. I thought I was missing out not having PLII But it seams to me that LOGIC7 sounds better. What is the major diffrecnces in the 2? And which is better or which do most of you prefer who have recievers with both of these features. This wont apply to people who dont have both I understand. Thanks for any info, help or knowledge from this question.
  12. Wow I would be mad as well if they are selling anything more than Quintet systems and or pro media systems. Klipsch is a high end brand which should only be sold in nice stereo store or upper class dept stores such as tweeter the wiz etc. I dont feel they should sell at certain places like this.. Its putting the name down just like when BMW was debating about selling a sub $20k car. When you drive a BMW people know what your driving if they sell for under 20k its not gona be nothing special. And Its not gonna seam to be of the same value it once was and thats not the way i would like to see Klipsch go..
  13. I use banana clips from parts express there cheap and get the job done for me.. I dont move my stuff around alot but I think it makes for a much neater install. Just my personal prefrence.
  14. Well you cant expect them to hold up to real deal bigger klipsch but for the class of speakers there in and the same sized speakers from other brands i think they blow them away and definately hold there own. I use them as rears in my setup.. There not super musical but for HT or if you compare them to simualar speakers by other brands that are the same size theres no comparison.. For there purpose and size there awesome. Esp with a good sub.
  15. I use to have a sony .. Not a good one about a $500 STRDE975.. Sold that and now im running a Harmon Kardon.. I love it.. Harman Kardon Denon Marantz Yamaha all make nice recievers.
  16. 3.2TL VS 300M theres no comparison. 3.2 all the way.. Just look at resale values that MOPAR junk will be worth squat in a few years with 90k miles or so and that 3.2 will still have most of its value. Also imports usually last longer and run better at high milage. But for that much money definately go test drive a 3 series bmw, Audi A4, Lexus ES300/IS300 and or a Infinity G35 which has 265HP and 265TQ 30k on a chrysler is just throwing your money in the garbage IMHO. 17. I havnet really messed with this on my 510. Thats crazy that a nice and fairly expensive receiver like this wouldnt have the setting for LFE and SUB seperate. My cheap sony even had that.. Anyone ever have the remote not work on there 510 or 520. Sometimes i will try to up the volume and it wont go up and theres batterys in the remote and all.. The AVR light will blink red but nothing then i bang the remote on my bed and then it works.. Wierd..
  18. I have an HK AVR-510 And love it.. Someday ill upgrade and unless im going seperates which im sure i wont be anytime soon it will hands down be another HK Reciever. It has super clean power, looks awesome, easy setup, and one of the best amps for a reciever. I use to have a 2002 model Sony reciever STR-DE975 and this blew it away noticably and made my Klipschs come to life. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page HK AVR-510 Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects R.I.P. 20. I use bannanas mostly just for the neatness factor. I rarely plug or unplug my equipment. But it just makes everything look neater and plus its easy to connect or disconect But as you can see towards the left where my 2 rear channels are I couldnt fit bananas so I used Pins. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page HK AVR-510 Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects R.I.P. 21. prodj101 all I can say is amazing, by the way, how did you get the wire through the walls? add new drywal and go from there? This house is brand new my parents just built it. So I had this done before the drywall was installed. Cause I Definatley didnt want wires going all around my room like in our old house. It definatley makes for a much neater Install. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page HK AVR-510 Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects R.I.P. 23. hahahh Thanks Justin.. Those cables are the best I can get them hahahhah and virtually unseeable. besides the rear ones and the left one the rest are all hidden and nice and neat in the rack.. You can use those pics on Soundwise to replace the old ones.. I the HK sounds so much better than the old sony reciever I had in the old pics. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page HK AVR-510 Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects R.I.P.
