  1. Understood. But if we noticed them all we would do nothing but mourn. In this way, there is a representative for these types of tragedies who can hopefully bring awareness to certain dangers.

I don't think he was god-like, but he did have an affinity for adrenaline rushes and fast cars. There's a lesson there for those who idolized him.

The most tragic part of this story, to me, is the driver's 8 year old son who was apparently on the scene moments later looking for his dad. Or so I read.

If we mourned every one that had a loss, we would never stop mourning.

  2. I have my Triax setup now (calibrated with my Denon 4520ci)... It ROCKS the HOUSE! It is the best HT sub I have ever had the chance to hear. When I have heard other subs they usually had what I call one note bass. This sub goes deep and loud and works very well with my La Scalas IMO.

  3. Last night my wife was watching a movie with me and she was laying on the couch... She fell asleep with her head about 1' from the Triax! I was 2 chairs away in the LP and I was getting massaged by the bass! This was with the 4520 @ -20 or -25 (can't remember which), and the Triax boosted from -8 to 0 on the sub. We were hitting in the 90db+ range on peaks.

I just cranked it up on the new Star Trek movies to 0 and one of our dogs left the room pretty fast! It was @$#%^ LOUD!

  4. If you're going to have seperate amplification then a receiver is a waste of money. Why buy inboard amplification if you're never going to use it? Get a pre/pro and be done with it.

I tend to disagree. You can get a receiver with HD Audio Decoding, HDMI, and a lot of other features for much less than you can buy a good pre/pro with same features. If you buy used, you'll get even more bang for your buck, even if it does include amplification that you do not use.

Ditto! Using an AVR as a prepro for some channel is a cost effective way to get the best of both world.

Yup! The only thing I wish is that you could totally disable the power amp in a receiver to draw zero electricity.

  5. It is pretty hard to get a pic of the sub as it is in a corner between a couch and a chair and can only be seen from above. Directly above the sub in the corner is a temp shelve that is holding my Industrial HIP speaker.

Did you get a 1099 form after winning the sub?

No... Will I be getting one?

I hope not but was just curious. I won a trip to Daytona Beach from MTV a few years back and got one unexpectedly. Probably varies from state to state and by promotion....

    Helluva nice win for you....Enjoy!

Was it for Federal Tax too? The manufacturer is in Ohio and I am in California... I am hoping I don't get a 1099 for sure. I am not going to ask that is for sure.

  6. No unpacking pics, delivering pics? I'd have an album by now!

It was pouring down with rain when it arrived... We unpacked it on our front porch and then dragged it into the house on the cardboard and foam. It is not as big as I was thinking but it is very heavy! It is all I can do to move it a inch or two by myself. The rubber feet are planted to the floor very well.
