  1. The XD-4080 is expensive. The XP-4080 with less features (but all you need) is much cheaper.
  2. You can audition Jubilees at my place too - I'm happy to do it if you get near Salt Lake / Southeast Idaho. @babadono was the first to stop by and I think he was digging them. Regarding them being the Holy Grail of Klipsch speakers... I just haven't heard anything better. Every Klipsch speaker I've owned I always wanted more. I've owned and sold lots of pairs. These are the first "keepers." Anyone that has sold them that I know of needed cash, had medical problems or some sort of personal issue (divorce, etc.). I am not aware of anyone that has sold them to move on to something better. And that's why they will have a special permanent place in my home.
  3. ^^^ Yep what Chris A said! My Jubilees smoke my Klipschorns. Jubilees are truly next level which is why they were going to be the replacement for the Klipschorn in the first place. I think I saw a quote that described the Jubilee as the best speaker Klipsch NEVER built- I think Roy may have said it. And officially the two-way Jubilee still doesn't exist. It's not on any price sheets, not on the website, etc. The Jubilee just exists as another option for movie auditoriums on the Pro site as a three-way design with no marketing for home use as a two-way whatsoever. My prediction; however, is that will shortly change as the word gets out. I think in total there are less than 70 people that actually own Jubilees with the largest increase in owners probably this year. I think the new active settings however change the game. I wouldn't be surprised if they become available with a passive crossover or available as active - maybe shipped with something similar to a Klipsch KDA-1000 with all crossover settings, delay, PEQ's etc. pre-programmed.
  4. I've found so far Roy's settings are what I prefer. @Chris A and I got these Jubes sounding pretty darn good before I had any settings. Now between Roy's settings as a starting point and the things that Chris taught me I'm set. I can tinker until I'm blue in the face knowing I can always go back to Roy's or Chris's base settings at the click of a mouse. I knew nothing about active crossovers and was pretty intimidated at first. Chris A was really helpful and walked me through XConsole and REW. The basic knowledge he patiently taught me has allowed me to tinker weekly. I know a lot of people would prefer to go passive, but active is the future for bigger speakers/custom builds, etc. Heck- a set of Klipschorns would be a totally different speaker if they were time aligned, tri-amped, and crossed over with a DSP. The price between active and passive is nearly identical if you have amps. The deciding factors for me to go active were the following: 1. Fix the time alignment between the bass bin and the 402. I'd like to tell you it's not detectable, but it is. 2. Klipsch (Roy) approved settings for the Jubilee with the new K691 driver. This driver is awesome with the correct settings and so far I see no need to upgrade at this point. 3. 31 band EQ in the Xilica. If you know absolutely nothing about PEQ's, low shelf filters, etc... you can at least salt to taste here. EQ's have been around forever, and almost any audiophile has played with one. 4. If you're not afraid to tinker you can chase that last 5% of performance. I now actually enjoy tinkering thanks to Chris- lol
  5. @Zim. Cory hooked me up with the settings. If you have a Xilica he can email you the file.
  6. Here are a couple of sweeps in REW. The red is raw with only a crossover point set. The green is with the PEQ settings from Roy and his Low Shelf setting on the HF horn. Measurements were taken from about one meter in front of the speaker. All of course using my anechoic bean bag and equally anechoic pillows- LOL!!!
  7. Well... My Xilica XP-4080 is now programmed with brand new settings from the Jubilee creator at Klipsch himself- Roy Delgado! I'd like to extend a huge thanks to Roy for working on this for current and future Jubilee owners!!! And... another big thanks to Cory @MetropolisLakeOutfitters for working with Roy to make this happen!!! Right now, without any added EQ my Jubilees sound natural right out of the box! I personally believe this is going to be a huge game changer for anyone previously scared to mess with Jubilees and an active crossover. Heres the back story... Cory @MetropolisLakeOutfitters ended up with a set of Roy's Jubilees after the Klipsch Pilgrimage... something about a friendly competive fishing bet (but only Cory and Roy know the real story). Afterwards Cory sent Roy a Xilica XP-4080 to work with. The Xilica is a more modern DSP than the previously popular Electro Voice DX38 that has been discontinued. Long story short- we now have settings from Roy for the Xilica. I've been listening for a few days and the results are fantastic right out of the box! I'm loving it! So what does this mean? Technically your Jubilees can be ordered with a pre-programmed Xilica DSP when you buy your Jubilees! Follow the simple instructions included for connecting your Preamp or Receiver to the Xilica, then to your amps (bi-amping is required) and then connect the speaker wires to your Jubilees. That's it and you're done! Pretty cool.
  8. x4- I bought a new pair of Jubilees, two Parasound A23's, and a Xilica XP-4080 from him. First class all the way!!!
  9. Glad you got home safe and enjoyed your trip @babadono. We were pleased to meet you and your wife! If anyone needs a northwest trip with a Jubilee demo - my wife and I would be happy to host you for a listen.
  10. You are now a member of the Knights of Big Klipsch Speaker Badassery!!! Love it!!!
  11. Here are my observations on the Jubilees after owning Klipschorns, two pairs of LaScalas, RF-7 II's, Forte I's, KLF-30's, and RF-82II's. Bottom line... they are in their own league!!! The Jubilee bass bin is like a LaScala and Klipschorn bass bin combined and then juiced up on steroids!!! I'm seeing on REW and hearing/feeling all the way down to 25 hz in my room. The bass is really tight, and they have that front firing "hit" like a LaScala only much more! The bass is quite a bit more refined than the Klipschorn and there is much much more of it. Any type of drum solo is absolutely incredible!!! The 402 tractix HF horn is in a different league as well. Take everything you like about the Klipschorn mids and highs, time align them perfect to the bass bin, and increase the soundstage by about three times. They are absolutely beautiful sounding at all volumes. My wife and I were downstairs listening to stuff last night - anything from Andrea Bocelli to the hard in your face hit of Disturbed. They are just incredible. I have no regrets other than I wish I had about six listening rooms were I could have kept all of the Klipsch speakers I've ever owned. I sold my LaScalas upstairs yesterday and may try some Forte III's in the spring, but I doubt I'll ever sell my Jubilees. Trent
  12. Hey Paul!!! I'm glad you are loving the Klipschorns! I miss them, but I'm loving my new Jubilees!!! The bass is really tight, and they have that front firing "hit" like a LaScala. The bass is also quite a bit more refined than the Klipschorn and there is much much more of it. 13. I sold my 1978's August of 2017 for $1,200. The exterior was a 9.5/10. They had new Crites AA crossovers and they had the rare full factory grills.
  14. Sorry if I didn't get to everyone's PM's. These have been sold. Trent
  15. On a side note I love them, but they leave no room for a turntable with my current setup.
  16. I was originally running my Jubilee bass bins with them and a single Parasound A23's on the HF. I'm now running two Parasound A23's stacked on the Jubilees and it's great- sounds the same. Yeah- these are actually just monoblocks so there's no way to bridge them. The XPA-2 and XPA-1 are really close to the same amp. The XPA-2 Gen2 can be bridged to a monoblock, but the XPA-1 and 1L are already monoblocks with superior class A operation.
  17. Two Emotiva XPA-1L Gen2 Monoblocks $700 for the pair. Excellent condition, Emotiva warranty left. I have the original shipping boxes.
  18. Chief Bonehead- we are dying to get your Xilica settings for the Jubilee with the K-691!!! Someone close to the factory please help him carry a Jubilee over to the anechoic chamber!!! Lol Loving the speakers Sir!!!
  19. Out of curiosity were there any GEQ's on the input side? If not I could actually email you the file with the GEQ's and you could try it again to see if you liked It any better. I'm just curious if it would change it from sounding so flat.
  20. No I use a pre-amp. The Xilica is just the crossover, time alignment, and tweaks (PEQ's). It goes between the pre-amp and amplifiers.
  21. That won't hurt them one bit. You could put an amp on them with double that. How loud they were playing would come into play long before you threw enough power at them to hurt them. In other words your ears would bleed before they would. And it is amazing how different they sound based on their environment!
  22. If you are connected to the amp via XLR cables (which is what the Xilica uses) then balanced. If you are running an RCA adapter and connected to the amps using RCA's (which you probably are not) then unbalanced. Stereo if you are using all four channels. (Mono if you are using each amp as a single channel monoblock, which you wouldn't be in this application). Here's a setup for running your amplifiers vertical which I prefer. (Right amp for the right speaker, and left amp for the left speaker). I used the left side of each of my amps to power the K-691's, and the right side to power the bass bins just to keep things easily organized. Input 1: left channel from your preamp Input 2: right channel from your preamp Output 1: left channel bass bin output -> Right input on left speaker amp -> to the left LaScala bass bin Output 2: left channel HF compression driver -> left input on left speaker amp -> left K-691. Output 3: right channel bass bin output -> right input on right speaker amp -> right LaScala bass bin. Output 4: right channel HF compression driver -> left input on right speaker amp -> right K-691. Double check your connections one by one following them from the beginning to the end to make sure the correct drivers are wired to the correct amps, etc. (OR) You can designate one amp to the bass bins and one amp to the K-691's and just use left and right as they should be, but I prefer vertical so you have a little more poop for the bass bins from the amps.
  23. You're absolutely right, but I don't believe it's going to cause drivers to fail as long as his connections are right. If he's just checking it out what could it hurt? If someone knows the time delay for the LaScala bin over the 402 he could try it. It's probably a lot less than mine.
