  1. It's good to see others have this same arm aand table set up. I guessI will try to find a new needle for the ortofon Lm20 (what does Lm stand for?) If they are still avalible. If I cant find a new needle I'll try a Grado maybe one of the higher end ones any suggestions?. I'm dieing to play my Mobel labs Beatles "the collection" new in the box.
  2. I have a Thorens TD 125 MK II with a Infinity Black widow arm kicking around. It is in great shape but needs a niddle in the Ortofon lm 20 cart(lost in a move). Is this a good combo worth fixing or should I buy a new cartidge arm set up.
  3. The big bass bins I think klipsch still makes or did the last time I took a look around this site. They are called the mwm cabnet and were part of the mcm1900 pa that dates back to the late 70,s. You see them for sale on ebay from time to time.
  4. no room acoustics to f#$%^% up the sound!
  5. EQ is used in a lot of recordings BUT.... The good recodings used very high end eg not cheap eg that you see in home sytems and rock band racks. I run a recoding studio and on most recodings we try not to use any eq. First get the right mike and pre amp( we use pre amps for diffrent sounfd flavors from tube to soildstate) and sound first. when eg is used (except for a distorted effct) High quilty eg is used that runs in the thousand for a 3 band paramitric eg by the likes of NEVE,Great river, quad eight api. The after recoding tracks are sent to a mastering house with eg that runs in the tens of thosands and it is only used to correct bad recodings. best sound I ever heard was a 2 channel stereo direct to disc with out eq.
  6. I rember back in the day when I heard some 901's powered by a Phase linear 700b at tech hifi in Dedham Mass. I thought then they were the best speaker amp combo I had ever heard. Then I went to the Music Box in Wellesley Mass and listend to the mighty Khorns powered then By soild state mcintosh. I never looked back.
  7. be carfull with high temp paint as most sold willnot cure unless cured at high temps. I would just use some good enamel paint in spray cans over primer.
  8. These were decorater that someone added front trim and grill. the grill and trim do not look like klipsch except for the badge. seller wants to add 100 right of the bat before shipping for packing.I emailed to see if they have orig speakers.
  9. Who in the Boston or RI area works on Scott tuners. Would love to have my 310e gone over. would rather deliver than mail it away to someone
  10. smilin All Klipsch speaker built before 62 had the date on the tags If they are missing they can be dated from the drivers used. Now with cornwalls it easy to date pre 62 . 59(first year) and 60 had rear ports and tv style front trim. 61 is the transistion year from rear port to the more common vertical cornwall II. Can you post pics of the Cornwall you won? I have a 60 cornwall and a 62 cornwall as well as 2 67 cornwalls. so I know the old ones pretty well. smilin when are you going to start collecting the early khorns pre 62..
  11. I second the motion to find a pro audio delaer in your area. but if you are doing your self I would go with some used. My list Mixer= soundcraft 200b,Allen Heath mixwizard, tapco Mikes= Shure sm 58 vocals sm 57 for miking. There are a million mikes on the market but these shures will never let you down. shure wireless or nady. power amp= Crown psa2 best power amp dea on the used maket, Crowm microtec, Crown dc 300. I find for the money used nothing bets a old crown. speakers= Klipsch pro lascala,EAW,JBL,EV If its just a smaller place some klipsch Hearsey willl work great but i would add some fuse protection. I would buy a tascam porta studio tape deck used or go with a new digital pora studio or one of it many clones. mike stands used ATLAS or AKG . Or go crazy and put together a smoking vintage sytem with Mcintosh tube amps and altec a7 or klipsch lascala with a altec tube mixer....warm sounding that will only go up in vaule. All above can be found almost anyday on ebay. if your in the Boston Area I could help.

  13. I still use my Nak dragon and 700. They still sound great. I have the nak ads sytem i use in my vintage cars. There is somthing about the nak that to this day still sound better than most digtal.
  14. That 15 is a K33J (j=JENSSEN) I think the jennsen might be the last Anico speaker klipsch used. It is a smooth sounding speaker. I have 2 khorns loaded with the k33j they have goood stroung bass.My 62 cornwall had this driver and it sounded smother than the one with the k33e.
  15. Steve Tyler of Aroesmith had 4 khorns powerd by phase linear 700,s in the 70's. I got this info from the amp tec(old school) that hooked it up. Aroesmith loved there Phase linear and horns back in the day. They toured with Altec VOT a7's and phase linear 400 and 700 before the big time when they owned there own sytem. I saw it in person when they played the local high school in the early 70,s
  16. looks nice , Thats the one the was just on ebay right? I thought of bidding but the $275 shipping scared me. I have the mate for it in the same finsh/years ect. mine is a right as yours is a left. if you ever want to sell let me know
  17. "Hold out for a model T" I have only seen one model T ever come up for sale and that was the one on ebay.I have been looking at all vintage klipsch on ebay since the begining. model t are rarer then rare. Cant wait to see what a one short horn brings these days.
  18. My rear port 60 cornwall has the Ev 15wk this out of all my cornwalls sound the best in the bass/mids. But this may have to do with the rear port loading the corner My 59 khorn has the k33j (jennsen) they sound great. My 58 khorns have the trusonic . I could try a ev15wk thats in a unused short horn in one of my khorns and compare.
  19. Simlin, I havent seen black decorater model cornwall II on ebay before. I have seen a few of the top line finsh Cornwall II's In walnet mostly. They must have made a few of the black and raw like yours as they were less $$. I think All Cornwall II have the vertical Horns .I think it was'nt until somtime in the 70's that they started making the corn with Horizontal horns. All pre 70,s Cornwall i have seen have the vertical Horns. To me the vertical mounted horns sound better when standing up the long way I know the ev tweeter was designed to be vertical.I think klipsch started make the Cornwall with horizontal horns to save money no longer have to make right and left pairs. My advice is to leave them stock if you want to modifi a cornwall do it to later ones. I see about one pair of vertical cornwalls a mounth on ebay latly. If you ever see a early rear port cornwall let me know I have only ever seen one (the I have}.I use it as center between to 58 Khorns.
  20. So you are the one that outbid me on the black (68 I think) Cornwall II's. There real cooling looking in the decorater black. I would have bid higher than the 861.00 but the shipping was real high. I hope the deal works out ok as the seller only wants Money orders(that always scares me a littel on ebay paypal is much safer. I already have some 68 Cornwall II's in walnut a dead mint 59 rear port 60 cornwall and a oak 62. In someways I glad i was out bid as I running out of room But the black ones would have been nice with the 68 and 61 for souround. I use a scott 299b with my 68 cornwalls Your gona love the scotts. If you ever want to sll the black cornwalls Give let me know.
  21. I saw 2 diffrent MWM 1900 bass bins on ebay recently. one in Penn was preety cheap 250 for 3 cabs(was missing one cab. the other was pick up only somer in the midwest and was over priced. I did just found 2 brand new klipsch mtm with 5 tweetrs in each.I bought hoping to use with my vintage altec/klipsch pro sound sytem.
