  1. you lascalas will be a lot louder then the advents With the same power. They are one of the most effecent speaker made. with one watt they put out 104 dbs at 3 feet.
  2. I wounder if klipsch ever made key chains out of the pie logo? I saw a early 50's clear plastic one on ebay last year that was from a key chain or so they said. Klipsch should remake them and sell as key chains but leave the hole as a option. That way they might sell .
  3. I would love a pair also if you can stand one more order! I have tags for the early khorns 3 types if someone needs a good pic of one to copy. They are the block letter clear plastic, Script lettered white lamiate , script clear plastic. also the early heresy, shorthorn and cornwall all pre 60.
  4. mid horn 51 khorn. Note the wooden flairs in side throat
  5. tubelion, A pic of a (Never been finshed) raw 58 Khorn with wood and glass mid horn. This was my first khorn I found it In a antique shop for $ 150 ,what a steel. Took my 3 years to find a match a 59. found only on ebay same model but it had been painted. I just love the look of the utilty model most were painted or decorated. I dont think you can get fir plywood like this anymore with this grain. Note the special Flinstones horn damper! I have the later metel horns and to me the early wood/ glass horn sounds better. I found aMint 51 khorn all orig (found right on this forum)last sumer It sounds even better then the 58. Now to find another 51. The 51 horn has 3 extra flares inside. maybe this is why I like it better or maybe its cross over with huge caps. The 51 bass is tighter/smother with its org Jensen 15 . The 59 has a trusonic and the 58 Not sure but it is a cast (not ev) but labeledl klipsch. Build quilty is top notcht on all my early khorns. The paint job on the 51 is Piano quility
  6. Dont forget 3m pro decks some of the best 1/2 track master decks ever built were 3m. Electric ladyland in new york used them on all the hendrix recodings they did. as well as many other top studios. #m not only made some of the best tape but the berst deck to. They even made a 3" 32 track deck . I picked up a 3m 2 track the size of a large washing machine at 250 ponds. Former Electric lady land mixdown deck The tape it makes are unreal better than any digital deck or hard drive I have heard. not as quite as digital but the tone is fat and warm its no wionder many studio still use them.
  7. I had a one empty Cornwall shipped from Washington state to Boston Mass area for around 70 by UPS. It was packed with 1" foam and cardboard thats 3,000 Plus miles last year. With out the speakers it was under the limit BTW UPS packed the speaker for the seller. So UPS could ship them with out the boxes with the speakers removed. That would be 3 or 4 boxes. The org klipsch box's could be carfully flatend and shiped to.

  9. I saw this one on ebay! Sure look like to me they removed the mid and tweeter post factory. From What I hear the h700 means model h with (then new) 700 mid horn. why would the call it h700 with out the 700 horn?? so to fix this you would need all the big money parts crossover, mid and highs. Its going to cost big to set them up.
  10. I am preety sure they used the EV t35 tweeter when new. They probly changed the twetters out when the got the price o to replace the EV tweeters. You could look under the klipsch 2 channel forum and look up Hornbuilder he use to build the old k;ipsch back in the eights I think.
  11. I Have the m audio 2496 audiophile card its ok but my old nak oms 7 sounds a lot smother. havent tested the card at 24 bit yet hopefully that will sound good.

  13. looking at my 1970,s Klipsch price sheets the Decorator model Heresy and cornwall came in Raw birch and black painted birch only .I dont think klipsch ever sold them(unless costom orderd) with a stained finished. I think this was left up to the orig owner as to stian paint or leave unfinished.I know when I was a kid and dreamed of buying some klipsch I always looked at the decoraster because of the cheaper price. The raw decorator's made in the 60's(maybe early 70,s to) and earlyer came in raw fir plywood from what I have seen. I just love the look of the plan jane klipsch decorator models . Tthe decorater khorn is cool with the its crossover and mid/ high horns out in plan veiw. The earlydecorator ones with the wooded mid horn just so cool in the looks.
  14. I just opend my early 59 model H and it does have the 1000/5000 cross over. I first thought it was the same as the 58 khorns cross over but that is 500/5000. They must have offerd this cross over up into the early 70.s or layter as my latest klipsch broucher that mentions it is 73. Jim
  15. I am preety sure the type C is the stock crossover. It would start with a A if it were the khorn crossover. would you want to sell your old cabnets? Contact me by klipsch Email if you want.
  16. audiogod79, Did you ever consider selling your H700,s and buying stock cabnets? Seems like h700 theater?? are sorta rare might be worth more than stock units. Maybe someone would trade yours for stock. I have one early (1959) Model H top of the line HW ( serial # 142 made the 2nd year of production) It Is made out of 1/2 " fir plywood then the top and botom are covered with 3/4" soild walnut. The front has two 3" wide 3/4" walnut strips running top to botom.the front and sides are cover in cloth The early hersey is real cool looking in this dress.Would be real easy for you to add this stock klipsch dress up.If I unscrew the dress up walnut pannels my speaker would look just like yours with all 1/2" sides tops ect. My guess is all the early herseys were 1/2 " plywood.and maybe all decorater models. I looked in a 71 klipsch full line catolog they show a decorater model with out grills in raw fir. I think this what was used as theaters models 60,s early 70's. I think in the late 70,s early eights they came out with real theater branded hersey but it was a two way speaker. you see them on eaby from time to time. I have only seen one set of decorater models like yours on ebay in the last 4 years and I look evrey day. I also have some late 60.s walnut h700 that are 3/4 in walnut ply. The 71 decoarter model(utility)came with no trim or grills and came with two types of crossovers. One crossover was voiced for center channel use with khorns (rare) the other as solo speakers. In other words some heresy's came with the khorn crossover.my 59 has the khorn crossover and it sounds excellent in the center of khorns but real bass shy with out them I can send a pic of the early hersey if you want a easyway to dress yours up and still have the stock look of a early hersey.
  17. wow the telefunkens are up there! I just tested my all orig scott 299b tubes (smothplate telefunkens.) all tested 100 on my sencoore tc162 tester. the 299b works and looks like new but is missing the rectifire tube.some how it got broken in a move. I have been sitting on this one for 10 years .It was found at the local dump when I was dumping.I just could/nt let it sit there having grown up with my fathers 299a.Which I still have.Gata get these tuned up to use again. would go nice with my vintage hersey's. whats a good rectifire tube to use with the telefunkens Maybey ill get some rca or mullereds for the other scott
  18. Just add The Benchmark DAC1 to your sound card digitital out or cd and you be in sonic bliss. They are raving about The Benchmark DAC1 over at the Highend pro studio forum. A lot of gold bound mix's will be moniterd through them this year. link = http://www.benchmarkmedia.com/
  19. old tascam / teac decks built like tanks. More reliable then most nac decks. still nothin like a nac dragon if yiou can score one.
  20. djk, Excellent! this is the speaker I saw on Ebay sure looks like a khorn with built in corner. Seller said they were from a theater and juging by the bass bin for sale now with Lascalas I say they must have made or make it now.
  21. Rigma, No email as of saterday. my email is jmp@nospamncounty.net (remove the nospam)
  22. It was the eartly 80,s when I heard and then bought my first cd and deck. I was and still use a thorens td 125 mark 11 with black widow tone arm\ turntable. I brought the nacamichi oms 7 ($1700 back then) home and hooked it up to a pair of lascalas at first I thought the cd sounded so much better with the background noise so low ect. but after playing my mfsl dark side of the moon. I soon found that the old recoreds sounded much better. Btw I still have the nac cd player and to this day it has plays as new.I never have turned it off in all the years except when moving or hooking up new gear.
  23. Jim Cornell, Your khorn in the pic looks like a total stock style d in stock black(the basic khorn). I have seen lots of style D on ebay ect. The one I am talking about has built in corners so it can be palced out of the corner, just like useing false walls. Jim
