  1. I missed a lot yesterday. Neked coffee makers, BigStewMan's incredible bravery, plans for LF visits, and on and on!! We, on the other hand, had it pretty tame. Visited better half's family and made it home just as the snow storm was starting to pile up. Not too bad by our standards ... 7 or 8 inches on the ground. We have two 4 wheel drive vehicles so no biggie. Baxter loves it. Just wish my grandson was here to enjoy it too. Happy 12/26 guys. Later.
  2. Mornin' (belated) and Merry Christmas gang. A Merry Woof from Baxter to Jake. Fun morning. My better half loved her loot and that always feels great. Baxter, too. He was protecting his new tug and at the same time had a new tennis ball within reach, one foot on mine and another toy about 1/8 inch from his mouth so he could spring into action if the need arose. Bless each of you and thanks for making my life a little richer.
  3. Merry Christmas to all and thank you for the fellowship all year round.
  4. Happy Christmas Eve guys. Gonna hide out in the lower level of the house wrapping presents for a while today. Billy Bob has my curiosity going but not too many mullet sources in Colorado I'll bet. Maybe substitute rainbow trout?? Tarheel a poet? Who'd-a- guessed!! Good job. Pats to Jake. Check back in a while.
  5. Good question, his deformed left arm ?Ahhh Ahhh it doesn't look good ;-( I do NOT want to know, just in case anyone finds out.
  6. Any Patsy Cline cover by k.d. lang tends to be very good. I would tend to agree that most covers suck, but there are some very notable exceptions.Other exceptions include Johnny Cash's covers of Kristofferson songs as well as others.
  7. Mornin gang. Feeling a bit under the weather and not a lot to report. Xmas decorations looking great and Baxter has antlers to wear. (Will probably eat them before all is said and done). Better half and daughter-in-law are taking granddaughter to see Santa at the mall today. I think I've dodged that bullet ....
  8. There's a bunch of you I'd like to meet. Actually haven't had a chance to meet anyone in person yet, but I've only been around here less than a year. Thebes .... where are you? Looks like you're leading the pack so far.
  9. Veneer or piano gloss black. Either way, a professional looking job will bring more $.
  10. I really missed a lot of good stuff from you guys yesterday afternoon and evening. Please consider all of it as getting a 'like' from me. Got tied up working most of the time. May have to face the madding crowd today and shop some more. If any of you are skiers or wanna be, it's a good time to take it to Colorado. Our central mountains are getting 1 to 2 feet of powder. Pretty incredible stuff. As usual, Denver metro gets off easy. Tarheel ... did LF make it back yet? Have a great day guys.
  11. There's a lot to be said for buying new with a warranty and buying from an authorized dealer. Not so easy to do with heritage. I've lucked out with used speaker purchases so far. Let us know how those speakers sound.
  12. Mornin' gang... coffee is down and trying to get a handle on the day. Finish up some client projects and get Baxter's Xmas shopping done. Semi-retirement can be confusing. Should be full retirement soon. Rhetor .... it's a blessing you are still with us. Life is indeed good ...very good. Tarheel (Chuck) - Will find a dog park for Baxter as soon as he gets the obedience thing down a little better. He's trying. Sounds like jake does well in the park. Will try to check back later. Cheers.
  13. Option 2 for sure since you already have a green light on Heresy. Use 5 of them with a sub. That way you also have better sound quality for 2 ch listening or multi-channel listening. Good luck!!
  14. Everyone NEEDS a good, reliable watch just in case that newfangled cell phone runs out of charge or the battery dies. Who knows?? That watch might save a life in the future!! Remember .... 'Needs a watch.' Hope this helps. Have a great day, gang. Gotta run.
  15. Nice looking ones too! And, depending on condition, a decent price.
  16. haven't had one in years, and (career-wise) I'm an old telephone guy. Cell phones can be re-charged in cars during a power outage, though it never hurts to have a charged back-up battery.
  17. Hey Chuck, any good jam session with guitars needs a B-3. We'd have to adjust for time zones, but a buddy (who's played professionally) keeps a guitar at our place, so there's a whole Colorado contingent ready to go!! Jake should tell that lady that he's not fat, he's just big boned. Congrats on the LF's return!! Chuck.
  18. Sounds like you and Jake will have a great Christmas. May want to throw on some oysters on the grill while you're cooking jake's feast. On the mercedes taxi, we were in Germany visiting my daughter and grandson this time last year and were amazed to find that Mercedes are as common in parts of Europe as Chevy's are in the States. My son-in-law explained that there are many models sold there which are not exported to the U.S. and that they don't have the huge import taxes and luxury penalties added on. Sigh. Have a great day guys and, as always, Cheers!!
  19. Welcome. You'll enjoy this group ... great guys. Just one question comes to mind ... why a receiver?? If the set up will involve 2 channel audio for music listening, it's my view (and that of a good number of others) that a good integrated amplifier or a separate pre-amp and power amp will generally give you far better sound. Heresys don't need a lot of power to sound great and that fact provides numerous options in terms of integrated amps and separates at a reasonable price. Others will weigh in as well with opinions. Personally, I tend to favor Marantz and Parasound amps.
  20. It's nothing more or less than the absolute arrogance and bully mentality of government today. Makes one want to go in the opposite direction of what "it" tells you to do, but like you said, who wants to go to jail over a stupid census survey? On a brighter note .... Happy Monday Gang!! Got a tight schedule today but will try to check back. Cheers to all.
  21. I get that .... happens whenever I go with my 'wants' instead of my needs. Hard to distinguish in my case.
  22. Mornin' guys. Missed all the plumbing and booze posts yesterday. Finished some work and some decorating with my better half and then off to the Xmas light display at the Botanic Gardens here in Denver. Spectacular. We grabbed dinner and then came home and crashed. That's about as exciting as it gets these days and we're good with that. Old age, ya know. Getting some snow in Denver metro this a.m. but it's not expected to amount to much. Life is good. Cheers to all.
  23. Belated good morning guys. On my 2d cup. Have a little work today for a client and then I gotta figure out what to get for my better half. Hate shopping but like to give stuff. Bad combo. Our Botanic Gardens does a spectacular Xmas light display so I got tickets and we're heading there this evening. Hope to be home early enough to crank up the HT. Cheers and try to check back later .....
  24. Organ envy? That looks like an organ transplant to me. You can bet it's a transplant, it surely never just grew there, Chuck can't fool us with a story like that. He does seem to play with it alot. It does take constant dedicated practice and concentration!!
