  1. I also changed them from style C to style B,here is pic of my fa;se corner fastend to the top hat with wing nuts and sealed to the tailboard and top section seems to work good.
  2. Got my re-veneered Ks done and upstairs....got grippers and foam seal on and WOW....try to post pic.Rick
  3. I got a pair of 74s and reveneered them and did test on the bass bin air chamber and noticed it was not airtight,,,,from glue drying or just air leaks ...not sure but i sealed them up and they seem fine now.I also got this enamel paint from Lowes and sanded the inside of the sqawker smoothed all the seams the paint also took the ring out of the metal. Also turned them from a style C to a style B.Rick
  4. Parts express part number 095-663 fits Klipsch terminals perfect.Rick
  5. Ok i see what your asking,,,,the one your looking at is a style B it has 2 homeplate type things and a spacer...your home plate is part of the top horn section ...but when you put top horn section on it should cover the top of the grill just like the pic does.HDBR said even the D style has the home plate to so it should be ok.Rick
  6. Im not sure about your question now,,,if you have the home plate top section whats the problem?Rick
  7. Oh just looked at old price list i see style D does not have the upper homplate....you need to make one to seal those babies right....Rick
  8. How do you seal the bass bin into the corner if you dont have the homeplate part on top....do you have the upper horn section???Got a pic of your Ks?Rick
  9. yes it is Dura Crest 708-344-4900 style 17 comes in 72 inch widths just ordered some from Ralph and yes he is a great guy.Rick
  10. If you take the horn section off the top all bass bins look just like yours...the home plate is the the way they made the top section,it has to look like a home plate to seal against the wall and make the flare for the bass bin.Rick
  11. So when i order Bobs new tweeters what do i need to do to my AA and ALK crossovers to take advantage of the new crossover points? Is there an easy fix for the crossovers to get the crossover points where you guys think it should be?Icant seem to down load Bobs schematic on this thread. Thanks for any help .Rick
  12. When you got down to same as cost plus shipping and they said no you should have said well thank you for comming in and have a nice day.Because when they get the set shipped to them who is going to set it up or where are they going to take it when its not working right?Alot of people come into bike shop to find out what size they need in bike shoes then they mail order them or they will buy a bike somewhere else and want our exp. mechanics to fix it for them. You cant really win with those type of people other than to say we only fix what we sell... have a nice day...and walk away.I think you did all you could and still got a bad deal... sometimes you just got say....good luck with your purchase over the internet and walk away.Rick
  13. Meagain can you borrow another reciever and CD player from someone? All this still sounds fishy to me i dont see a room making the speakers sound that bad since you got carpet in the room to.I think i will have to refer back to PWKs rule ... crap in crap out....lol.Mabe after you listen and try different stuff you will find what is really wrong.I would still try and borrow another reciever or amp just to convince myself.Let us know how its going.Rick
  14. I still think its something simple....change left and right speaker wires while you got good sound in left speaker to make sure amp not making bad sound. Then check all drivers like Dean said. You got left sounding good so figure out whats wrong with right speaker before you waste time moving stuff and getting confused....take your time look at wires, check solder joints, wiggle wires while listening could just be bad wire.Rick
  15. Are you going to run the test with the rebuilt crossovers? The shrillness could be the caps or the amp when i got my HK430 i noticed a much better sound but i had already installed the ALKs home built. Not to get back on amp power but my old HK with 25 watts outshines my high cost 80watt Yamaha any day of the week go figure...lol.Im not saying i dont like my Yammy but i like the HK better. As far as remote controls go is there a reason you need remote? I got my electronics in another room in a closet and have to get up to change stuff.Glad to see this post back on track helping Meagain...remember this is fun.....enjoy it... dont argue. What Meagain has done so far is good i think.Rick
  16. Why cant you put old crossover in left speaker new one in right speaker put mono signal in the system then have someone flip the balance knob back and fourth,,,,,while you try and figure out which is the best...works better if you dont know which one is where though.Another way you can do it is wire left to speaker output A and right speaker to B speaker output so all the switcher has to do is switch the selector switch. The differance will be more than easy to hear that way.I dont think you can listen then switch the crosover out and remember what you just heard.....blose counts on this at best buy..lol.Rick
  17. I think the gunfire on { Open Range} was good there are a few others i cant remember.I think it has to do how its mixed on the DVD maybe. I have seen movies where the gunfire is not good at all.Rick
  18. On the cribs show he even said"watch movies with Klipsch"I think thats what he said ...been awhile since i seen that one though.Rick
  19. Have you seen that shelving that is on a turntable so you turn it inside a closet setting for acess to the wires?Good idea for people who want it hidden but also want acess to back which is a pain most of the time.Rick
  20. The Horz. foam does not cut up the wall.. it just defines the bass horn and if you dont hook the tailboard and horz. part to the wall you will lose bass.If you unhook the tweeter and squawker wires you will see there is a whole lot of information comming from the bass horn...more than you might think.I still say you cant fix your problem till you make sure the crossover is ok and in phase.Lets say you got perfect sound going into the speaker but the crossover makes it bad,,,,then you keep changing amps and not get anywhere.BEC has proven the old crossovers need updated with pics... i might add i checked mine and the Caps were way off on the specs. So argue about power all you want it still wont matter if it gets messed up by the crossover. In fact the crossover can consume more power if there is something wrong with it.I say just fix the crossovers and work from there.Rick
  21. Well if your not able to try the HK430 go to high end stereo shop tell them you would like to buy a good amp..intergrated=with tone controls...power amp=no tone controls .Most will let you try amps in home if they are sure you will buy from them. But let me say this the HK430 may only have 25 watts but it sure seems good to me and a lot of other members im hard pressed to go past 9 oclock on the volume knob. But you are right its not a new or AV reciever ..to get that have to go to Rotel,BK,Outlaw etc.Hey Outlaw will send you amp to let you try no questions asked and alot of members have them to.Did you check polarity?check all conetions and the one on the woofer door?start with the basics. And new oil caps to bring your AAs back to spec dont cost very much from BEC.OK lets see what we got so far... try new amp=no cost....check connections, polarity=no cost....get new caps from Bob very little cost. Then you have more info on what you need... right now your shooting in the dark.Rick
  22. I looked and tested the L-pad it looked brand new,,,,,but when i hooked this crossover up to the horn output it sounded thin and tinny....i then hooked up old parts express crossover that i had and it sounded perfect...the Altec one looks real cheap i think. Thanks for your help guys,,,,we will try to figure it out.Rick
  23. I think you got the big foam...you need to get 1/2 inch pipe foam its for 1/2 inch pipe and is what you need. Also the phase thing needs to be checked,,,its not that easy to tell.. if its been out of phase since you got them. Can you make your reciever all manual so you can tweak it? I think you should just get an HK430 twinn powered reciever and enjoy till you decide on any upgrades usually you can get one of the twinn powered recievers on ebay for around $75....HK430,HK630,HK730 would be all good.
  24. I still dont think the foam is causing a problem but you may have 2" instead of 1" foam.Rick
  25. The woofer door is where the wires go from the crossover down to this square piece of wood,,,its an acess door to get to the woofer. The screw in the inductor ...look at crossover and see if there is a singlescrew holding something down...thats it and it may have a round piece of wood with screw going through it.Also while your back there tighten down the woffer door screws.Rick
