  1. Hey schu, if your looking to get rid of those laser discs, I would be interested. A friend of mine has an old laser disc player and he just removed it from his setup. He said he would give me te player if I wanted it. I was hesitant because finding media on it would be very hard... Your dilemma could solve mine lol
  2. No issue with putting it out there. Not keen on the name however. To me, reference means more than slapping copper woofers on a driver. The reference series was once meant to be the premier in home theatre by klipsch. The thx and palladium series has pushed the envelope on what it meant to be premier, that is fine. Now I would say reference means an introduction into serious home theatre, and the icon and quintets were meant to be the introduction to klipsch. These new reference series speakers seem to be an introduction to an introduction into serious home theatre without taking things too seriously.....?! The product line needs to be distinct from the other lines, don't blur the lines and create confusion with your established market base. I will agree though, more than 50% of people I have talked to have never heard the name klipsch, even fewer have actually bought klipsch speakers, and I would say less than .5% have attempted to go into klipsch upper eschelon of sound. This tells me that klipsch puts less money into advertising and more into R&D.... But this new shakeup isnt looking very fruitful at all... Just sour grapes... Hopefully the best showcase is left for later, the track record so far seems to be about 25% enthusiastic.
  3. Edited first post to show theatre as it currently is. I still need to get the wiring done, and obtain a power conditioner before I fire her up.
  4. Well it has been 9 days since I paid for the receiver, and I have yet to get the item. Called to fedex yesterday and according to them, the seller has yet to drop the package off... I filed a claim to get my refund today. If I get the funds back, it looks like there is a NIB sc-65 for a little less than what i won this auction for. Have to wait till the 29th without anything before I get the money back though.... Christ why do these people even exist...
  5. Onkyo and integra are notorious for overheating. Getting so hot they melt the sodder on their hdmi boards... Similar issue with the ps3 and xbox1
  6. Well still interested in the 5s... If we can talk the price down i may bite.
  7. First one was a store display rvx-70. This 2nd unit is an sc-65 won on ebay. Honestly it isn't hard to keep track of them... Why do so many used ones come without? I wish I could manually set my system up... But I am as novice as they come when it comes to these things... I dont know what would sound good, better, best. Untrained hearing.
  8. Well, it appears te mcacc mic that I need to calibrate my new pioneer receiver will not be included. I was curious if any members out there had a spare or one that don't need? Movie night is coming soon... Would love to have my sound calibrated...
  9. I am wondering if the community had a list of movies they really enjoy watching on their home theatres? I mentioned earlier that I got my receiver and television, and with wires on the way, the theatre will be ready to debut. With that in mind, I would really like a blu ray experience that really shows off the theatre when it debuts. I plan to have over 10-15 people over when the theatre debuts, i just need some ideas for a movie that will leave a lasting impression. For pretty much all involved this will be their first experience with klipsch (surprising how few have heard that name). So far I have a small list, but wondered if people had any input. -master and commander (heard this was an excellent demo movie) -matrix -twister (I think the tornadoes would sound awesome) -Star Trek or Star Trek 2 -transformers (this seems to be the favorite here) -brave heart -oblivion (still haven't seen it so don't have a frame of reference) Which movies should i focus my attention?
  10. Well one week down and some new news to report. The elite rx-70 that I purchased will be returned tomorrow for store credit which we are applying to the 60" sharp q+... and upgrading it to a 70"! Today I saw a pioneer elite sc-65 ending in just 20 minutes. Discussed it over with the wife real fast, she green lighted me for $650 shipped... We won it slightly higher than budgeted at 658 shipped (love sniping). So overall it has been a very good week! I cant wait to get this monster receiver, and very excited to get the near 4k resolution 70" q+!
  11. One last question, does this have the calibration feature like onkyo and pioneer?
  12. Nevermind i see that it does... Let me consider it, your price beats amazon and it is in the WAF price range.
  13. If your willing to get down to the 700 range shipped, get in contact with me. I am currently looking for either an integra or a pioneer elite... It is a gossip really, but I hear the pioneer with the class d amps run much cooler and don't have the overheating issues that onkyo has been plagued with the last 5-6 years. That being said, I still like the integra and would love to try one out. Has anyone heard if the newer integra and onkyo receivers are failing as bad as before?
  14. Well I have heard that music is the true test of any audio equipment. But I posted this in home theatre and not in 2 channel. I enjoy a good movie or video game loads more than just cranking tunes. My goal is a very enjoyable home theatre experience, decent music would be a VERY distant 2nd priority. If I was worried about my 2 channel listening pleasure, I would be looking at mcintosh equipment...
  15. I actually have a possible integra dtr 70.2. I am a little cautious with anything less than the .3 since it seems these integras suffer from the same hdmi board failures. Does anyone know more about this particular unit?
  16. Yea... My wife is saying maybe we should return it and get something a little better used. I have my eyes on an integra dtr 50.3 as well as a pioneer sc-07 or sc-37. We will see where this journey takes us. Either an elite or integra would be fine with me, both have excellent track records.
  17. After starting a claim with Ebay, the seller of the SC-65 told me that he had left the receiver with FedEx, and that it had been put aside on accident and not sent. He assures me that it is on the way, and tracking appears to have updated to support that claim. Still if the receiver is not functional, he will get negative and I will continue forward with the claim. I decided to take a few photos to show where my speakers were located in relation to the couch and TV. I know I will get a lot of groans and advice on how I should properly set up my theatre, but sadly space is a major factor, and with a support beam behind the couch (see photo) the choices are very limited. Still I think it will be a very enjoyable experience!
  18. Color me not impressed. I like the cones and the gold tells you reference right away, but there is no need to update the synergy and icon series if they would just bring back the x series rvx-54 and updated them... Klipsch, don't get lazy with your product design. You are a premium speaker designer, I understand the need to capture market share with entry level speakers. Just don't slap gold cones on your icons and call them reference. You guys are so much better than that...
  19. Scrappy I would love to have a listen. Should have looked you up a few weeks ago when we were down in KC... Would have had way more fun than crappy worlds of fun...
  20. You should wash your mouth out with soap for even saying the B-word! Soundbar is a decent speaker and can cover a lot of the essentials that a smaller theatre demands. As I have said, for my secondary theatre/formal living room, i use the rsx speakers. They are small and inconspicuous. They also allow for entry into the reference series for a lower price and a compact package. The bookshelfs are a very solid speaker I am sure, i just love the curves and modern look of the rsx. You really can't go wrong with either setup as they will be better than a tv built in sound will offer. PS: i now have a 7.1 setup of rsx-4 and rcx-4 for the living room and a 5.0 rsx-3 rcx-3 for the bedroom with my rf-7 setup in the basement. 3 rooms down, 3 to go hehe.
  21. I say sit down for a while and enjoy the community here. Marvel at some of the home theatres these guys have (I am looking at you Scrappy and Youthman). Really a great bunch of folks. I really am a newb here as well as I have only been here about 2 months. I have learned quite a bit from these guys, and still look forward to learning a whole lot more. I just hope this ad to sell your Klipsch sound bar is an indication that you are getting away from Klipsch. You will be hard pressed on finding a more economical, better built, better sounding product than Klipsch.

    WTF ?

Eh, people that feel the need to post such things in sale threads are considered "trolls" and I usually just ignore them as indulging them would be considered "feeding" them. If I am interested in an item, and I want to negotiate a lower price, I do that in private messaging. There is one quick way to turn off the troll fest, and that would be to disable responding to threads in the Garage Sale forum. People could advertise, and private messages could be exchanged. And all a seller need do is bump his/her own thread to keep it in the active string. 30 years ago, things were a lot better. It was a rarer occurrence to be witness to such stupidity. With the birth of the internet and the free voiced anonymous opinion, stupidity has become common place and sadly accepted. Just look at your facebook feeds for 2-3 minutes, and you will find stupid people readily sharing or attempting to enlighten others with said stupidity. One wonders why I seldom post on that social media...
  23. After further thought on this, I think we will be able to run the wire in the ceiling. There is a large box around the ventilation that would allow me to run all 4 surround wires to. We also have pocket lights so I can pull them out to feed wire. I don't know what the finish product is going to look like, but I imagine it should be pretty inconspicuous. I really wanted to avoid running race tracks. Anyway, thank you guys for putting me on to knuconceptz wire.
  24. Well I think I will go with the 10 gauge wire from knuconceptz. Seems like a great wire for a fairly cheap price. I plan to get 200 feet which should be more than enough for my basement setup. Just curious if this wire will be to thick to run under some carpet when I come to a door? Iwe have Wayne's coating around the whole bottom half of the walls so i plan to wedge it between the carpet and Wayne's coating. Problems arise when I come to doors. I imagine if it doesn't fit well, I will have to cut off a half inch on the bottom of the Wayne's and then put baseboards around the room. Problems still arise when I have to go under the carpet though... Suggestions?
