LS were intended to be a Stadium speaker, not a HiFi utilization

Big breath….again….Mr K never understood the difference between home speakers and commercial. He told me that it should not matter what you have hooked up to the speaker….a turntable or a band….the speaker should faithfully reproduce the input signal.

the reality for  2023   are high  energy + high  interest rates + high labor  costs  + shortages in the supply chain  + staff shortages + regular price increases for materials +  high  R&D costs   , based on the uncertainty   , the  R&D  costs will most likely be even higher in 2024  .

R&D costs higher in 2024?  Maybe my guys and I will get a raise in 2024!!!

Here is a link to the featured Reference Track for the SubFest Bonehead Class.

Roy was in a quandary, he couldn’t find anything music wise that had a true fundamental in the 15 to 16hZ range. What to do?

You call your resident Renaissance Man if you are lucky enough to have one, and KGI/PAC does in fact have one, Matt Sommers.

Link to the two cuts which Matt collectively named “Deep Roy” with a description of the musical keys, and lowest fundamental frequency.

    Enjoy on your favorite system/headphones.

If you are wondering why Matt has such a long silent intro on track 2 . . . well I will let those who were there explain it and what the intro does to the listening room couch.

Enjoy, courtesy of a true Renaissance Man (in the highest Quattro cento sense of that moniker)

Below I have listed the rest of the songs I played for subfest

Bonnie Raitt. Good man, good woman

bela fleck and the flecktones. Flight of the cosmic hippo

bass mekanik. Bring the bass back

    the refused. Bruitist pome #5

    Tool. Invincible

    roger waters. Amused to death

    stevie ray vaughan. Little wing

    yello. Umbria

    boz scaggs. Thanks to you.

and Matt’s two songs that Travis listed.

Replacing jubs with jubs is interesting...not sure I'm seeing the potential of $24K of improvement

Never heard the heritage jubs have you?

All of these Direct Radiating Subwoofers are more alike than they are different... some are better built than others, some have more output than others, some have more features than others... but at the end of the day, they are similar.

I ran an OLD sw115 with La Scala II's for years with great success... the trick is blending them correctly and not allowing the subwoofer to over power that sub 40Hz region of the frequency band.

If you've chosen to go with a direct radiating subwoofer over a horn loaded subwoofer, then it really doesn't matter that much imho... choose your features, choose your output and choose your price point and with some finesse, I am sure you'll be a happy camper... UNTIL SOMETHING BETTER COMES ALONG, hint.

    It’s coming….

    Hi All,

I purchased a pair of Chorus IIs that came with the Crites XO.  The previous owner, sadly, can't find the original XO and so I wanted to make my own.

I know that Klipsch likes to use the autoformer for the inductor, especially for the bass.  I was wondering if I can just use air coil inductors of the same value instead?

I am not a big fan of the Sonicap Gen I or II caps as I think they are too detailed and not a good fit for the Chorus.

So, is it okay to use the regular air coil inductors?

    Thanks

@Deang dean could probably make these for you.

I am changing my listening room and want to place my equipment on sidewall, not between speakers. The room is 5.7 meter wide and 6.6 meter deep.

why do we always place it middle.

I know speaker cables would be shorter, but if they are 6 feet longer does it really matter?

I am using Cornwall 4 and Cary 80HS

the reason i can’t test is because my stuff is in storage while remodelling.

please tell me it will be okey. I am keen for different layout in my room.

    Thanks for great forum.

Actually that the way I have the lab setup. Ideally there should nothing between the speakers.
