  2. I got about a half turn, maybe a little more in each screw
  3. If you are buying new, you're more likely to find a stereo (2 channel) integrated amp than full blown stereo (2 channel) receiver. For best sound result for music, I would recommend not buying an AV receiver (something for surround sound). You could always check the garage sale section on this forum to look for used equipment as well as Craigslist, etc. If you find something and you want some input for forum members, just tell is the model and the price of what you Dobbs l found and someone can give a recommendation on if it might be a good fit for you. The benefit to buying new is some dealers (if you happen to have one near you) let you take home a demo unit that you are interested in to try it out in your home with your speakers.
  4. From my experience with RF-7 version 1 speakers, they like higher wattage amps. When I used a 40 watts per channel integrated amp, there was a lot missing in the midrange frequencies. We then used the same integrated amp as just the preamp and hooked up a 200 watt per channel amp, and the midrange frequencies played with more definition. I've tried this setup with other Klipsch speakers and never noticed anything near this dynamic. I'm not saying you need a 200 watt per channel amp, but I do recommend something with some decent headroom.
  5. Does it list a city and state that these were shipped to? Curious if these came directly to Massachusetts or if they came later. Also, does it make sense that the some of the speakers have different midrange and tweeter drivers? Was thus a transition year for Klipsch with drivers?
  6. So I finished cleaning all of the 5 La Scalas. I took an inventory of all the drivers. I have 5 - k43 woofers, 4 - k55v with soldered connectors, 1 - k55v with push pin connectors, 3 - k77 with round magnets, and 2 - k77m with square magnets. I opened all of the dog house panels, tightened the screws to the woofers, cleaned off the old gasket tape, and replaced with 3/4" wide closed cell foam gasket tape.
  7. This is the sought after midrange, correct?
  8. I think they stopped making them, but you can still buy them. Check this out at Amazon Klipsch Reference Series RB-81 II Bookshelf Speaker (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0040Q51FE/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_N56EE1BCJ587YW2KSXGZ
  9. Here are a couple of pictures of the soldered connections on the K55V driver. So far, 2 speakers have these 2 these midrange drivers and round magnet tweeters, and 1 speaker has push pin k55v midrange and a square magnet tweeter. 2 more speakers to go Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  10. We watched Ready Player One again last night. I forgot how much LFE was in this movie. Really gave my new SVS SB16-Ultra subwoofer a workout
  11. Except for the screw holes that the hooks were attached to on the sides. Yea, there's some scratches Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  12. Actually, these hung from the ceiling by chains for the last several decades!
  13. Ok thanks. I've been able to open 2 panels so far using the putty knife method. I'll pay better attention during the next one to figure out what to order. Thanks
  14. Do you have an example of this? Is this good? Klipsch MTM

Not sure if this is a good deal or not, but here you go Look at this on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-MTM-Piezo-Arrays-Black-Loudspeakers-Mismatched-PAIR-/224594828193?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
  16. You would know if you bought some, sounds like all you need is for CDs Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  17. Looks like 1980 was a transition year for Klipsch drivers. The speaker I cleaned up today had a k55v with push terminals and a k77 with a square magnet. I was able to get 2 dog house panels open so far, both had k43 woofers. I also tightened up the screws to the woofers. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  18. Any suggestions on removing the dog house panel? The panel is flush mounted, so I can't really pull out, I can only use a flat head to pry to the side. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  19. I'm just now seeing this. The cabinets are painted black and it's textured. Definitely plywood, not sure if there's fiberglass on top of that, but don't think so.

    up up & away...

I use eBay sold sales as a way to gauge value
  21. I never had a problem with mine. The only thing I can think of is you need to have a mono 3.5 mm cable, not stereo. You may already know this, but worth a shot.
  22. The mid drivers have the soldered connections Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  23. I took care of one cabinet today, removed the horn drivers, cleaned the horns, deoxed the terminal strip. Are these the midrange drivers that are sought after? Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
