Thanks. I'm planning on a 56TXI and 59TXI combo. But I am waiting till sometime in the summer to purchase. For one so I can put the money together to get everything at once, speakers, sub, and Tv. And second for the very reason you stated above.
I have had a Samsung 30" crt for 2 years. I love it. Great picture quality. I hven't had any problems with it and it has a lot of inputs including 2 high def comp inputs. I bought mine before hdmi so there is no input for that but I think all of the newer models have it.
The only thing you might want to consider is later this year Samsung is releaseing thinner crt TVs that will be about as deep as a dlp rear projection TV. Read this link

Could be no different because you are running a crt instead of some form of digital projection. I've heard before that hdmi doesn't make a difference on crt based TVs.
If you have a 7.1 system and use i link capable equipment, can you select the rear speakers for DVDA/SACD instead of the sides. I ask because I'm thinking of getting a receiver and DVD player with i link and I don't have mono poles on the sides. Just in the back.

McGoo has given you a very sound item to consider.
In some cases you can define another poor component in your system very quickly.

That's why I posted my question here. Help from you guys pointing out things I don't think to look or listen for.
Mr McGoo if you play a CD over i link does the Pioneer play it in 2 channel automatically or does it apply DPL2x to it?
Well if Yamaha doesn't include i link on anything but the RXZ9 then Pioneer would be my next choice anyway. But it's good to hear from a Klipsch owner about how good Pioneer with i link sounds.
Thanks for the quick reply. This is part of a whole system upgrade. Since I'm one of the Yamaha+Klipsch fans I'm waiting on Yamaha to include i link on more of thier receivers. Then I will get a new receiver and universal player with this Klipsch setup. I've decided on a SVS PB12-ISD/2 for sub duties and probably a Sony 34" XBR TV. I'm a tube guy when it comes to video.
I see this on forums a lot. I am in the Yamaha+Klipsch camp. I love the way my setup sounds on music and movies. As far as Klipsch bashing and people with agendas. That's why this forum is the only one I read. I got tired of people talking other people out of Klipsch because that person didn't like them.

The red-and-black speaker color scheme reminds me of Cerwin Vega! speakers.

That's what I was thinking
Alpine has a unit out that controls the ipod through the head unit. It also powers the ipod. Other than that any head unit with an aux input will work. I have a Blaupunkt and my wife has an Alpine and the ipod sounds good through both on the aux in. check out www.ipodlounge.com.
