  1. "Look honey, I put these speakers for sale as you don't want them in the house but no one wants to buy so I'm keeping them".
  2. So you are denying law of technology? If current digital 10" doesn't beat old analog 15", what's the point of going digital?
  3. Here is a good source for Canare-4S8 wire http://www.redco.com/Canare-4S8.html Yeah, thanks. I checked that as well as performanceaudio and markertek. Looks like shipping is same as cost of cable. Checking pre-made cables as well.

  5. One for red, one for blue and one for green. RBG that makes all other colors plus one for extra... Oh that's for video, but it makes perfect sense here.
  6. That looks good. I can't use banana plugs as the Vandersteen 3A signatures only take spades or rings on the back for biwiring. I'm leaning towards Canare 4s8 that has four 16 awg cables but end result will be 13 awg after combining two at the amp and separate at the speaker terminals. Length will not be over 15 feet so shouldn't be any issue. Let me do some more research.
  7. Monoprice has a cable you may want to use for making speaker wires it is much cheaper, I definitely feel Mogami can be worth the price difference but when price matters most this will work well. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023901&p_id=4037&seq=1&format=2 Hmmm... they don't sell by foot and 100ft is way too much. What about these? Bluejeans Canare 4S11 What I need to do is this:
  8. So you already had crites diaphragms to install that quick?
  9. CF4's are pricey. Depending upon location, $700 (if you are lucky) to over grand. CF3's, $500 (if you are lucky) to $777. That's from me watching for sale ads. Never had either model.
  10. No, don't trash them. Monster has lifetime warranty on those wires. Just call them and they'll give you RMA to send it back. You have to pay the return shipping and they'll replace it and ship you back on their $$$. I believe it's caused by the insulation of that particular wire. Replace it. Yes, the material interacted with the wire and caused oxidation. I need something like that for bi-wiring but not paying that much. That'll end up more expensive than what I paid for my speakers. Plus even if I get them, that doesn't mean they'll do anything unless I upgrade everything in the chain. Speaker wires are not snake oil but it becomes snake oil after certain point. There are specifications for inductance, resistance etc... and once it's within acceptable range, it is snake oil after that to pay too much.
  11. Okay then. We are talking about the same thing but I won't call it bi-amping, there is only one amp in bi-wiring so bi-amping doesn't sound right whether passive is added or not. Bi-wiring helps with any speaker. It helps frequency path separation thus keeping signal separate/clean. However, there are speakers that are specifically designed keeping bi-wiring in mind. For example, Vandersteen 3A Signatures that I own. Very few speakers are designed to take more out of bi-wiring. Here is what Vandersteen found after research and thus the specific attention in crossovers for bi-wiring. http://vandersteen.com/support/faqs
  12. It takes quite a feat to kick my behind. I've heard 5.5's and they are pretty decent. I find KLF10 pretty good and 5.5 are similar design except the port location so should be not far behind. I've not done direct comparison though but KLF10 are still in the home so far. I've even heard stacked 5.5's fully upgraded (tweeter, crossovers) powered by multi grand amps and they were much better than the single pair powered by run of the mill amp. Even then, no kicking A$$ but sounded pretty good. I'm glad you like/enjoy them. If all agree on same thing, it'll be a horribly boring forum.
  13. Yep, always love to hear what the non experts say....And, once again, no one has asked (other than me) about type of music, source equipment, room acoustics. Oh, and by the way, some of the KG series will kick your A$$. I'm just sayin'...... I had KG2, KG2.5 and KG4. Meh... Forte trashed them completely and even Forte was not that great.
  14. Heresy or Forte or KLF...and a sub if neighbors are okay. Others in your list are too big. When I lived in a townhouse, anything wider than a foot would take a lot of space in small room. I'd not get KG series. But I'm not Klipsch expert so...
  15. That means my RF3's are quite good speakers. Define passive bi-amping and I'll follow up with what I think. I believe 105db on RF-7's is at the threshold of melting your ear drums. Exactly why I'm thinking these may not be the speakers for me. HOWEVER, I've just connected the Emotiva to the Onkyo's pre-outs and and driving the horns with it at about 80% gain and it sounds MUCH BETTER so far!! I'm getting a tiny bit more detail and separation, but the harshness is nearly completely eliminated! I'm going to play with the gain on the Emo for a little while and make sure I'm not just fooling myself, but I think I've made the right move so far! If you are bi-amping, get same amp possible, ie, both emotiva or just get one big emotiva and skip bi-amping. If you do end up selling the RF7s please think of me first. You did a good job getting to the seller before I could. I would love to put these next to my other RF7s. Thanks. If/when next ad comes up, I'll holler at you. Are you sure she's listening or looking at the size?
  16. Hey, the new price is $250. May be they'll sell soon.
  17. It says loudspeaker in the title so if it's single, no deal but description says lg. Speakers so hopefully for the pair. Http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/ele/4757378106.html kipsch cornerhorn loudspeaker - $800 (milwaukee) >> lg. speakers can post pics, if you want to talk to someone about these call Flaners or audio ventures. 15 in woofers, horn, and tweeter Dave
  18. Or just build one with Billfitzmaurice's plan. Cheap, goes low and loud. www.billfitzmaurice.com/THT.html 20Hz: 114dB at 4.5% THD.
  19. Multiple subs can eliminate dead spots and easier to setup than trying to get even frequency throughout the room with one sub. However, they should be at similar level subs. Multiple crappy subs will sound crappy compared to one decent sub.
