  1. Wow, I love those JM Labs speakers, very simple looking, yet have some serious drivers in them. How do they sound BTW and how much were they? ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Shiva/AVA250 DIY sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player
  2. I was just told ON HTF that the difference between the 8" drivers used in the RB-5, RF-3, and RF-5 is the crossover poit, but why the different serial number for the drivers? ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Shiva/AVA250 DIY sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player

  5. Hey guys, I noticed on Klipsch's product pages that the RB-3, RF-3, RF-5 all use different 8" drivers. 6. Upgrading the RC-3 and the RB-3's won't be possible, as they are bought and paid for by my dad, so they arn't mine to sell or replace not to be used. I am thinking I may get the RF-7's, and once I move out, start my new system around those, and that would be a serious start to a KICK *** system. ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Shiva/AVA250 DIY sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player
  7. I am running my KSW-10 in the upstairs 2ch. system, and it sounds awsome, way better than how it was in the home theater. 9. That extra port length will also modify the tuning Frequency that the RF-3 was designed to have, and it may make the speaker sound like, well, **** . So be warned. ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Shiva/AVA250 DIY sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player
  10. Well, the thing I have heard about getting the RF-7's is that they will drown out the RC-3, much like how the RC-3 is drowning out my Nuances. The RF-7's are 2 grand however, and it would take me a few months to get the cash. My dad paid for the RC-3 and RB-3's so I can't sell them or trade them, but I will be taking whichever speakers I buy when I move out, so I could always get a matching center when that happens. I think I've narrowed it down to the RF-7 or the RF-3, and that's a huge difference in price, so the decision is huge and I hope whatever one I make won't kill me with regret. ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Shiva/AVA250 DIY sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player
  11. Well, I finally decided it's time to upgrade my front speakers which are Nuance with an 8" mid and a Silk Dome tweeter. I have Klipsch Reference everywhere else, a RC-3 II for the center and RB-3's for the rears. I was in the dealer today and got prices on the RF-3 II's, RF-5's, and the RF-7's. I was only able to listen to the RF-7's and RF-5's as they had no RF-3's in stock. Obviously the RF-7 sound incredible, and the RF-5 wasn't far behind, and they both sounded WAY better than what I was expecting, my god they are lovely. Any ways, I am good friends with the owner of the shop so I'll be getting what I think to be a smoking deal, but it makes the decision between the 3 WAY harder. Here are the price breakdown, in Canadian funds: RF-3 II = (Retail $1400) my cost $680 RF-5 = (Retail $2500) my cost $1440 RF-7 = (Retail $3800) my cost $2088 So, as you can see these are some dam good prices. My original plan was to go for the RF-3's, but I would like to get the Cherry Veneer and the RF-3's don't offer that. The price of the RF-7's is almost 2 grand off retail so I am seriously considering these now, and god would I love them. My questions are these: 1. What one is the best deal for the money. 2. What one would integrate with my RC-3 and RB-3's the best. 3. Would I really be better off spending 2 grand on the monster RF-7's?? Help me make my decision guys, I want a pair BADLY! Also try using a "Y" cable to split the signal into both the RCA inputs on the KSW amp. I did this and noticed way more volume without having to adjust the sub volume or reciever. 14. the KSW-10/12 or the PW2200 would be your best bet for the money. If you want an even better "bang for your buck" then maybe consider getting into DIY. A 12" driver (adire Audio Shiva) is $125, 250 watt rms Plate amp is $135 (Parts Express #300-794), and materials would be less than $100. This sub would able to compete with subs costing well over $1000 bucks if you put it in the right box. If your interested in the DIY way, go over to Hometheaterforum.com and check out the DIY forum. ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player
  15. It's an interesting idea, but I'm sure there is a good reason for not using one in a home theater application. 16. my suggestion for a new box was just that, A SUGGESTION. Yes it would make the sub go deeper, if you tune it to do so, and would cost ALOT less than going for an SVS etc etc etc. I didn't see anywhere in the original post saying that they wanted to buy a new sub/amp combo, so I was going with what was stated. Every post from you seems to be about "just get an SVS, Krell, Dynaudio etc etc etc, to solve your audio problems". Don't assume poeple have the money for that stuff, and if they do, who's saying that they want to drop the cash for that stuff?? Take a post for the imformation that's in it. Don't look at it for the flame that you think it hold's. ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player This message has been edited by APPLEBITE on 01-31-2002 at 01:02 AM

  18. Guys, the question was how he could make his CURRENT sub go deeper, not which multi thousand dollar sub could go the deepest. Of course anytime Earwax posts it's usually about all the snazzy **** he's got, and hardly ever about the topic at hand. If you want the KSW-12 to go deeper, there arn't too many options. Polyfill might do it, but I highly doubt it would make a difference. If you really wanted to, you could make another box for the sub and amp, and design the box and port to make it go deeper?? That would be a lot of hassle though. ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player This message has been edited by APPLEBITE on 01-31-2002 at 12:53 AM

Hey TheEAR, for once could you leave out the part in your posts where you tell everyone about all this expensive stereo stuff you own. Most poeple on this forum know what you have, so it just seems like your rubbing it in. 20. Got my RB-3's today, and dam, I'm just as impressed with them as I was with the RC-3 center. Instead of making the stands out of Sonotube, I made them out of Knotty Pine, and I will be staining those in a teak color. They work great, but I'm not a master carpenter so they arn't perfect, but I'll post some pics of everything once I stain them. Now I just need a pair of RF-3's and a KSW-12 ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player
  21. I'm one step closer to a complete HT system now. I picked up a RC-3 center today for $375, and WOW, I couldn't believe the size and heft of this thing, what a work of art too. The sound is above anything else I have heard thus far. I'm going to be getting a pair of RB-3's for the surrounds and will be making stands (instead of wall mounting) out of Sonotube, and that will save me 100 or so bucks. I'll post some pics when I make the stands. ------------------ JVC 36" tv Technics DA-10 Reciever Klipsch KSW-10 sub Klipsch RC-3 II Center Klipsch RB-3 Surounds Nuance Fronts Hitachi DV-P415U dvd player

  23. Quintets Vs System 6 Vs Reference Series Awe man. I was down at my Klipsch dealership today and priced out a pair of RB-3's and a RC-3 center, both are priced at $375!!!! I was stunned at the price compared to the Synergy speakers, man what a deal. So now I FORSURE want these speakers, to pair them with my Nuance speakers, and evemtually get another pair of Reference speaks to somplete the set. I will be upgrading to the KSW-12 tomorrow, for only 120 bucks too!!! WOOHOO. I demo'd the RB-3's and RC-3 in the store today with a KSW-12, and dam, what a lovely sound.
