  1. Not before July 4th. Never!
  2. I'm not sure those things taste better then even a piece of electronic equipment. One of the most awful things I've ever had. And I like burgers and fast food. So, I think I win.
  3. Thanks, and I agree completely regarding the break from hifi. That, in a nutshell, is what I've been reaching for since moving in the "vintage" direction a few years ago. I'm hoping that the Dynaco MKIII's that are coming into the picture today are significantly different, better, or worse, then the MC50, so I can figure out what to do with them easily. I really don't need to keep them on the shelf gathering dust not being used, and I only have room for one system. I love everything about the MC50, from it's sound to the way it matches up with the MX110 pre, to how it sounds through the Cornwall's. The fact that it runs cooler is a bonus on this very unusual heat wave we're currently enduring in the SF/Bay Area. But I love tubes, and I'm guessing the III's will bring with them their own benefits and match up well with the 110 and Cornwall's too. A nice predicament to be in, but a predicament nonetheless. In the end run, I'll never sell the 250, so the III's will have to be outstanding for me to decide to keep them around as well.
  4. And the outcome on the Dynaco's is they are repaired and coming home tomorrow. Allowing me to have an abundance of riches and figure out which amp I prefer. Details to follow.
  5. Have not read any reports about a heart attack days before the flight. She fell unconscious during the flight. The coroner has ruled sleep apnea and other, undetermined causes. She also had drugs in her system, and fatty buildup in her arteries. FWIW, I was a serious snorer, according to my wife, before losing 50 lbs, and stopping drinking. Now, no more snoring.
  6. No the 110 was partially restored by the previous owner. Sounds great, and I'm not touching it anymore for now. Having bridged 250's would be boss. I currently have a pair of Dynaco MKIII's in restoration purgatory, and so won't be adding anything else at least until I know the outcome on those.
  7. Thanks. The 250 is a first generation SS. But very "tube like" in it's presentation. The 110 works beautifully with the 250. The 250 was designed to actually be plugged into the early Mac pre's, like the 110, for on/off capability. And yes I really like the phono section. There's actually 2 MM inputs, and I have my AR XA and Dual 1019 both using them at the moment. Thanks!
  8. To push my Cornwall II's. A very early MX110, and a MC250(restored by Audio Classics). I'd say I'm all set for summer.
  9. If the refs can agree to let the players play, GS will annihilate them.
  10. If there are going to be curtains, preferably heavy curtains, why not try them at the opposite corners near the windows? Seems from a seating arrangement perspective that would be better anyway, with the speakers pointing towards the sectional. Just a thought.
  11. More like they asked the refs to step it up a notch. There were some real doozy's called last night.
  12. How loud was he listening? Did you say anything to him, ask him why the need for a ridiculous amount of power with speakers that don't need it? Did it sound bad using different sources or just one? All kinds of reasons that they could've sounded bad, beyond that he just blew them up, although why he would feel the need to use that much power with those speakers is beyond me.
  13. Some of the best sound that i've experienced has been with a Crown XLS1000 amp through a Decware CSP2 tube pre, pushing my Cornwall II's. The Crown is completely transparent and neutral, and the CSP provides a good tube counterpart while not making the overall presentation too syrupy. Headroom galore, but I rarely listen very loudly. Where it shines is low level listening. The bass on the II's really come alive with very little volume. I like that.
  14. Wow those are some beautiful speakers, and and a HK Citation II to push them. Friend, you are one lucky guy.
  15. There are a few on CL(and 1900's too) in the SF/Bay Area for less then $1000. The one that's really hard to find/rare that is going for big bucks is the 1500. They didn't make many of them. Would love to get my hands on one.
  16. This sounds great with my Cornwall II's. Tube tuner, too.
  17. Why thanks. It's a well lived in room. But it does seem to make those speakers feel at home.
  18. Honestly it's more difficult finding a way for them to not sound great No matter how I set them up they always make the music sound better. It's one of the main reasons I fell for them in the first place. I sold my first pair when I didn't think the room was doing them justice, only to realize after messing about with smaller speakers that even with room limitations the Cornwalls are still better at just about everything. They might lack in imaging compared to some smaller speakers, but really by such a small degree that it's hardly noticeable, considering how they do everything else so well. Glad to have finally come to my senses.
  19. Thanks! I have been experimenting. Have moved them both as close to the corners as possible(there is a lot of TV related cabling by the right wall which you can probably see...unfortunately somewhat permanently installed...long story) and at least for the moment this seems to be the best place for them.
  20. Guys that isn't cool. Sorry, but this guy is going through hell right now. I started this thread to discuss my speakers. That's all. I really don't want it devolving into making fun of a fellow human being that's hurting. Not here. If you must please do it somewhere else. Thanks
  21. Thanks guys. I'm really enjoying them. Been switching between my Mac 1700 and a Sherwood S8900a. Both beautiful matches, but I am looking forward to getting the Dynaco's in the mix. Just waiting for the tech do finish up with them. Yes that's a Dual 1019. Great table, as is the AR XA that I also use often(I like that one so much I recently bought a very early AR TX very early, 2 motor version). Had a blast listening to all kinds of great acoustic/bluegrass music over the air from the Strawberry Music Fest in Grass Valley, CA over the weekend. These speakers love that stuff, and they fill the room and make me feel like I was sitting in the meadow with the sun shining down right there at the front of the stage. Wonderful.
