The rabbit hole is a fun adventure so enjoy but if you just want to simplify and call it a day a marantz stereo receiver should satisfy everything for you or at least hold you over while you climb your way down the rabbit hole to the rest of us ...

The RPI3 is a stand alone mini-pc (linux not windows) with the "high quality dac" as a plug in add-on board. You would just need some high quality RCA cables to go from the RPI3 to your pre/pro. You run the rpi3 from your phone. Last i checked (6 months ago) all the options are still finicky and require some finagaling on your part to get running smoothly. There is a lot of talk on line about linear power supplies making huge sound quality differences but I was always left wanting for more. Moved to the Bluesound Node 2i and have never looked back.

I tried the RPI3 with the hifi berry and also with the katana and did not like the sound of either compared to the bluesound node 2i. The rpi sounded tinny and bright. Just my experience

From personal experience I would recommend continuing to use the sub even with stereo listening. The added bass fills out the lower end and makes for a better overall sound....

Not having stands is not going to dramatically change the sound.
NAD C316BEE V2
Marantz PM5005
Both good options for amps. I'd lean toward the Marantz but thats just personal preference.

Now that my system is all set I'm finding Spotify and even Tidal MQA all are revealing their limits. Lots of harshness/distortion in the vocal ranges and in cymbals ect, which is not present in some of the hi res versions Ive downloaded. Was wondering if anyone had a collection they'd be willing to let me sample so I can compare more tracks??

I bought a pair with no audition, even with a showroom about an hour away. No regrets whatsoever.
Same. Been working as mains in my home theater for the last six months. Love them.

Vapers are the new Camel jacket wearing smokers. Remember all the camel cash and people would wear hats and jackets ect. Advertising for camel and with how much they loved smoking. Vaping is the new way to show everyone how cool you think you are but really just showing your poor life decisions. Its cool brah, look at these hefty clouds! Im an enlighted healthy smoker. Whatevs...same crowd as the pot heads who think they need to show everyone how enlightened and progressive they are with weed....

In progress. Right now i have rp600m for lower using minidsp. Not pretty but sounds decent. Im gonna pick up the lower jbl dual 15 lf bins soon

Both like new. Still have original boxes. I am the first owner of both. The RP600m are the piano black and the Rotel is silver. Both are in immaculate condition. Non smoker. No pets located in Northen California. Would prefer local pickup. I am including the white Kanto stands in the price of the RP 600m
Feel free to PM me with any questions.
Rp-600m -$500
Rotel-$800
Together-$1200

Not affiliated but I did buy a pair and jbl horns from him so i know hes legit

Got a good deal on a set of JBL 2385A horns with JBL 2446h drivers. I had a couple of spare eminence 800hz two way crossovers. The efficiency is out of control. Luckily my Parasound pre has bass and treble controls so i got everything decent but I definitely need active crossover. Its more of a proof of concept.

He's asking 350 for horn and driver (4592) combo....best offer can get them for less.

And the seller has 4 more of the JBL drivers and 4 of the BMS 4592 coaxial as well as 4 more horns plus a couple of the JBL bass bins (which i think i may end up buying if they arent gone in a couple weeks) if anyone is interested I can point you in the right direction....

Mine are the 55v. The description on those on his website seem pretty nice.
The 125vs the 120. What’s your take on how it’s an improvement?
For me no "ringing" very silky smooth sounding. My wife (anti audiophile) admitted to noticing a more pleasant difference in sound as well (unsolicited)

Educated does not equal intelligent, only persistence. An advanced degree is admirable but does not guarantee intelegence nor common sense.
That being said MDF has it's place in speaker construction as well as plywood and other materials.
