craig! i find this a very intresting question and wonder what prompted you to ask, as you know from the very first time you rebuilt my 299a i thought it was and is a very nice sounding amp, and have always refered its sound to the acurus 125x5.ss which i have. And after the rebliud of the first dewald mentioned that i perfered what the dewald offered.but it lacks the power of the scott. since receiving the 299 again recently it is a lot smoother.the high a tad more promiment with a smoother mid. I find that there is something that i am missing and have been wondering if by different tubes or cap or what ever would soften the sound, its NOT BRIGHT,its probley way too natural. And with the very revealing cornwall might be my problem, as i preseve them. please understand i have nowerethe type of gear some of these form member have cornwall 1 panosonic cd. honest but ignorent.

Jbryan! yes, this is a valid point with the supposition that the seller was'nt fair in his/her actions. I would still maintain that actions on both side needs to be carefully adhere to. The internet beign a reletive new form(arena) where buiness is beign conducted by the faceless masses, the first priority we ought to bring is honesty, this type of market place allows the indiviual to firstly reinvent themselves with new identity hence (silverfox) what can this character get away with,initally any thing, until a relationship is developed and then the true character of the person is seen. Hi all please forgive me for my ignorance in how ebay opperates and my possible lack of understanding in these matters,i,ve been around here for awhile and often times this fourm is used as a baromiter as to the possible going rate of klipsch heritage speakers.and many who seem to act as though they set or can determine the price range for these speakers. this great big todo about these cornwall is totally out of reason, its ok to try and engineer the price to sute your needs by gathering together and say i'm not going to bit if u are thus affecting the possible price outcome amd one member better not bid against another, seems like when some one from the clique is precived as having been wrong the waggons form a circle,i'm not the seller but if the price i expected was beign determine by this type of behavior i too would act the same way, you can't have it both way's or can u? this person is more than likely right here, or is a frequent visitor , i,m just saying don't be so self rightious everyone would like to make a good deal if the other guy don't play fair don't join him, jmo it might have been like belle that moon got so you see you're better off already be cool

I too started with a pair of quartets, and ask advise from tech support at klipsch who recomended ss1 surrounds sci center ksw12sub this works for me. althoughb i run mine with acurus 125x5 and adcom pre,no regrets

I tent to be around and read quite a lot of whats been posted, this question of sound stage and imiging has made me wonder what some of you are really listening to, from the discreption of how your system sounds there is a bad case of the blues, with defisincies that is inreal need of help. kelly's discreption of the different parts and sub parts are real world. the validity is not lost on those who are experiancing a simillar understanding.although my experiance is limited, i have found that a dewald tube amp which was rebuilt by nosvalve presented the most imposing sountstage to me,more so than my ( acurus ss ams), and 299a. without sinegery your system will be a bunch of parts.

for the most natural sound use #10 awg from HD the stranded verarity cant go wrong at the cost best 5 bucks i ever spent on audio.

I am suprise no one seems to consider the acurus wether 125x5 or 200x5 is'nt this a good choice and releative inexpensive

Have you try raising them about 8" off the floor and ease then in the corner 15' apart toed in & 15-18' to listening position. if you cannot understand the language of the cornwall proberly its not for you. unfortunately the 7'S might eventually pose the same type of synthoms you're experiencing now, its not Fesiable to do all the mods that are posted. find the strenght that you're able to admire in these boxes,listen to those and you might be suprised how gentle these cornwalls are.IT MIGHT NOT BE THE SPEAKERS. They dont cover any thing up.

Seperation of class 1 from 2 or 3 is a requirement 2&3 may occupy the same raceway. You would be better serve to provide 2 seperate raceways or by using the stud as a devider & place each outlet box next to each other at point of attachment. I'm superised that F/A and 277 are occupliny the same conduit.its not eaven good pratice to mix 120& 277 although they have the same voltage rating!!

Looking at the compolents in the system, after getting the speakers,which is in most part the first purchase to be made! wether influence by others or what amp these speakers were beign played through our choice is preceived on basis that this is the sound we will like, or like to here. In the most part this is largest single piece of compolent in uor system and therefore not easily subject to change. So other parts are substituted to meet the need,our aim is to put together the most awesome sound system together and as was stated. Amplification,speaker, room were the three major segments in the picture. how do I preceive my quartets with a ksw 12 sub a cheap dvd and acurus playing low and compaired to cornwalls using same dvd.yes there is a difference! how much it really matters depends on your expectations. I often read this form and have been influence by some of the views expressed, there are personalitys that are strong and influencial in their opinions,and persuasive baise on knowledge gained over many years,the substance of which has been borne by others on many occasion. The fact that if we are speaking of elertricity transformed to sound each part of the system is really infuential in the final outcome of the sound beign reproduced. and in all its aspect since I =e/r Xl=2pie fl XC=1/2pie fc cant get the symbolpie(sorry) The optimum system brings these factor to as close to unity as possible including room, and above all dont neglect self in this, its all reletive. jmo

just a thought here! Make sure the vert's are a propre pair, and don't have the horn on same side of speaker.

I payed about the same for my 76 cornwalls 1250 and 350 shipping haven't regretted the purchase. although have seen better prices since.great speaker if space is mot a problem khorn could be had especally if you're patient and be able to pick up. enjoy your newly aquired purchase, Make no mistake the cornwell, are ssssweet.

excelent post erik!!. could'nt help but recall the origonal post by esterdo, and the origonal diagonist by the tech who obviously did'nt seem to know squat about the amp.a tremendous amount of loving care way put into soulving not only supposed pproblem but with previous knowledge solvinging issues that were from inseption. stimulating post a job well done!!!!!

since a large speaker would not be a problem i would suggest that you include the cornwall in your search and could possible get a pair within the price range quoted. these are large but extremely versetile, and well worth considering especally if one can be got within travering distance, personally i find that there is no need to wonder about upgrade, they are simply superb. your ears are your friend listen to them.

congratulation!!!!!!!!! i would'nt worry about changing speaker wire as yet, a couple of days listening is hardly enough time to get a feel for your new found toys.give them some time to settle down,and become climatise in their new surrondings you might be suprised what comes out after a while, the linseed oil will rejuvinate the look , just make sure you dont go heavy handed when applying your coat. placement is esential and this you will have to determine for yourself over time, and even interchanging the different amps could affect how they sound. i've got a 299 and i'm very happy with the result i'm getting. klipsch cornwall!! welcome to a work in progress

tb,kh,craig! could the use of the 4ohm tap be use for any tube amp? or does the circuitry of the eico lends itself to be configured in this way. my familliarity with any form of electronics is limited so my reasoning might be impaired.from other posts reguarding low wattage amps,would this type of application bring the amp towards the lower wattage principle.the first clean watt brings the best sound. with all the resistance beign fixed does this then make the amp,produce a higher current or lower current to the speakers. thanks for any imput.
