  1. Thanks! Just did mine....bi-amped. Any market for upgrades to speakON?
  2. Limited to 2mb per post... I made a Corian insert panel that glued in from each side to securely attach the speakON NL4MPR connection to the speaker.
  3. Neutrik speakON connections are high power (Amp>speaker) connections used primarily in pro audio, very durable and can be connected and disconnected "hot" without risk of shorting. They actually lock into it's matching female connector and you must release the lock via a small slider on the side to remove. They are available in 2 and 4 pole varieties in 30-50 amp capacities and most female connectors are airtight for use in speakers. They are in short, bullet proof. I am converting all my amp and speaker connections to speakON, which has required the purchase of some special tools to make speakON connections correctly. A #1 Pozidrive screwdriver (NOT phillips) to make connections on the speakON male connector (cable ends) and an open barrel terminal crimp tool and die specific to NLFaston locking connectors to make solder free connections to the female component of the speakON connection (Amp and/or Speaker end). I'm using 3-M DP420 epoxy to fill the holes where the banana plug once resided. When cured I will machine correct size hole for speakON connecter and attachment screw holes. Here are a few pics. 4. I see said the blind man....relatively new to the forum. Shocked to see it. Dare I say it is....Heresy? Sorry, couldn't resist.
  5. Really???? http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Eclipse-K-PAIR-Outperforms-Pauls-K-horns-Must-Hear-/252488210677?hash=item3ac97858f5:g:tc0AAOSw2gxYnhgv
  6. I think he meant how do you split the signal from the preamp to the two amps. DBX DriveRack PA2, Auto room EQ, driver phase alignment, 3 in 6 out all balanced; Sub, LF, MF/HF work? Using the AK2 (high end portion) for the MF/HF split. That's what I am considering.
  7. I have a vintage pair of K33 woofers in excellent condition. These were removed from my K'horns for an update just after purchasing them used in 84. Speakers measure DCR 3.4 and 3.3. Photo upload won't cooperate, pics on request. $300.00, you pay shipping. They are in pristine, working condition, see pics. Please ask any questions you may have. All sales are final.
  8. Anybody ever used any of this equipment?? I ran across it on ebay. I love the dbx DriveRack but this has 8 channels...Sub/LF/MF/HF....like the Xilica at a fraction of the price. NEVER heard of this company before now...Mexican company. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BUNKER-BPD-1-Processor-Spk-Mng-alt-DBX-DriveRack-PA-PA2-Behringer-DCX2496-/151999513065?hash=item2363e081e9:g:nygAAOxy4c5RuRk~
  9. I'll take that as a yes!...lol A LOT more info than I ever expected, thanks for the link. This is something I want to do. I know PWK said what the world needs is a good five watt amp, but should I be overly concerned about amp power (max/min) to the MF and HF with the DriveRack handling gain adlustments? I have a Crown 300 w amp signed up for the job but...seems excessive, albeit budget friendly.
  10. Looking to freshen up my vintage K-horns after several decades. Building a new house and on a budget but in need of some updating to my system in the process of moving. I am interested in tri-amping my K-horns using a dbx DriveRack PA2 for crossover. Love the Xilica but its priced in the upper atmosphere with al the rest of the esoteric stuff I can't afford. just interested in seeing if anyone else has done this and their thoughts, Thanks in advance!
  11. Do balanced XLR inpus/outputs minimize/eliminate this issue? I know you can't toss your entire system in deference to a new one with balanced input/outputs, but if a person was putting a system together would balanced XLR connections be a worthy goal for all your components?
  12. First post here...noob to the site. Bear with me....I'm old too! Testing the waters, updating my Vintage K-horns and looking to finance it...at least partially anyway, through the sale of some vintage parts. I don't really know the value and need some guidance....some price range perhaps. I bought my Khorns in the early 80's. I sent a letter (dating myself here) to Klipsch inquiring about updates to my new acquisitions and they responded with the history of my speakers (built in 1977, BBU) and told me about the upgrades available at that time. That was 1984, I have the original 1977 vintage K33 woofers in pristine condition, in Klipsch boxes, and the 1984 "upgrade" crossovers the AK-7's. they are also in excellent condition save for some dust and what seems to be the standard cankered and corroded driver leads, greenish in color within the insulation. I would appreciate any insight my fellow Klipsch fans can provide!
