  1. Excuse my ignorance but who might this Cory person be that keeps being mentioned?
  2. And @Deano1974 what are you feeding your pets? Really need to change our Italian Greyhounds diet I think.
  3. Hmmm... How many Dirty Hendrick’s Gin Martini's does that translate into?
  4. Is the Titanium Diaphragm change out pretty straight forward? Watched the tutorial, seems easy enough. I'll have 4- KG1's w/ ferro-fluid to change out along with 2- KG4's.
  5. @Emile & @carlthess40 With your input and suggestions I've gone & looked at them. Not bad shape, grills & drivers all look clean and intact, typical glass/cup stain on top of one. Offered the seller $300 for just the KG4's. Don't know what I'd do with the KV4, it's a monster of a center channel with dual 8" drivers. May offer $50 for that. Hoping the KG1's will work as surrounds with the KG4's. They should look good together anyway. Will know by tomorrow if he accepts my offer.
  6. @BadChile Interesting. Been looking at the TU-8200DX from tubedepot for awhile now as an entry into the world of tubes.
  7. Love my Polk SDA's with their front passive radiator & sealed cabinets. Prefer non ported due to my preference (perhaps just perceived) for a tighter bass. Been wanting to try Klipsch's rear mounted (drone) PR's. Thought maybe the KG-4's would be a way to get my feet wet with the rear PR's. Forte's are what I think I really want to end up with. Just waiting for them to become available at a reasonable price. How position sensitive are the rear PR Klipsch's such as the KG-4 or Forte's? I can put the SDA's right up against the back wall with front PR's. I realize the rear PR's need some breathing room but how much normally?
  8. @carlthess40 there’s a lot of equipment in that picture. Heresy mains? How are you using all those top shelf (KG-4’s?) speakers? Dual centers? Atmos? What is that lower center speaker? Looks like they’re powered by Marantz. Sorry for all the ??’s, I’m always curious about how others set their system up.
  9. So, I've traveled the 400 miles to pick up my 2 pairs of KG-1's that were on CL and now I see these listed while I'm down here: https://anchorage.craigslist.org/ele/d/klipsch-package-2-kg4/6632247294.html Price drop from $600 to $450. Seller is firm @ $450. Will most likely be sleeping out with the Italian greyhounds for a while if I come home with them 😎 but I'm not sure I can resist. I wouldn't hesitate if they were Heresey's or even KG-5.5's. Will they be a close timbre match if I used the KG-1's as surrounds? Don't need the KV-4 but I believe it tends to be a rare find anymore. Can't even find any specs on it anywhere. Leaving town Monday so need to decide if they are worth risking marital discord for by then. You guys talked me into the KG-1's now what's your take on these KG-4's?
  10. Mr. Crites response; So, thinking since I've got 2-pairs, I'll send one pair of x/o's & tweets so I can compare to the non upgraded pair.
  11. @Rivernuggets Thanks a ton. I'm forwarding the pics to Mr. Crites. Will post what his response is.
  12. @Rivernuggets I'm sorry. That was @Steve. that asked.
  13. @Rivernuggets If you could provide a relatively close up pic of the KG-1 X/O without too much trouble, that would be great. Otherwise I'm headed down to pick mine up next week but would like to get a pic to Mr. Crites sooner than later and see what his response is. Also, going to look at a pair of KG-4's advertised on CL. Wants $600 for the pair & a KV-4 center channel. Seems high but worth a look. Thanks
  14. I realize those were factory installed on the HIP's but would there be any negative' acoustical effects' from a metal grill over the woofer on other models? I know that over on the 'Polk" forum any metal (I'm making the assumption that those are metal) near any of the drivers is frowned upon. I'm asking as the prospective new owner of @longdrive03 project H1's. I would love to show off that gorgeous motor board but have 4 Italian greyhounds that find the woofer excursion of my subwoofers irresistible to resist. Your grill idea would sure save me a lot of worry.
  15. My mistake. Was reading too fast. I will check that link out.
  16. @avguytx The concept is wonderful. I believe I have all the skills necessary and would absolutely enjoy every minute of the process. And the money savings would be a great bonus. But..... The time that would be necessary to invest in this scale of project is just too prohibitive in my foreseeable future. My winters are spent working out of town and my summers are spent trying to accomplish everything else that can't be done in the winter. But would really like to see your home built LS's.
  17. @avguytx "Money to burn" Ha Ha "Not our family Brick" ( The Middle) My 98 year old mother and the rest of my family lives down that way (Anchorage) and I'm visiting next month so the drive isn't the big issue since I make that trip several times a year. Would just like to get a decent (fair to both parties) deal. Especially since both pairs seem to be earlier models that would need upgrading I'm sure.
  18. Yep & I'm 500 miles north in Fairbanks
  19. Thought so. Was thinking from $1.5 - $2k for the LS's & much closer or just under $1K for the CW's.
  20. Seriously contemplating going to look at these. They're over 500 miles away. Would possibly be interested in both. Owner not offering much information yet. Not going to get too anxious yet, just listed and seem a little high priced. https://kenai.craigslist.org/ele/d/vintage-klipsch-la-scala/6625981428.html Any suggestions on what questions I should ask and what to look for?? I have no experience with LS's or CW's but they are both 'Dream' speakers of mine.
  21. Does this mean they may become available in the near future??
  22. You mean like this one? Sorry, wrong picture, I meant this one:
  23. Since the Jamo SB36 & Klipsch RSB-3 are seemingly identical, except for finish, wonder if other Jamo's will be Klipsch 'clones'?? @dtel I've heard of Energy but was unaware of the Klipsch connection.
  24. Haven’t owned any Jamo’s yet but have heard several models prior to the Klipsch acquisition. Really like the current style and look.
