  1. Hi all.  I too have a pair of used RF-7 speakers whose crossovers were modified at my request by DeanG.  I am the third owner and am convinced on the newer, fresher highs these speakers now produce.  However, I bought them before I realized I had to move sooner than later to much smaller confines.  So, if anyone is interested or has never owned the sound of the RF-7 line, now is your chance to behold their power.

I hope the pics on my CL ad do them justice as they are on a wheeled platform in storage with no access to A/C power.  The feet had been removed for climate controlled storage, but I still have them.  The cabinets are cherry wood veneer design and do have some imperfections for their age.

I am asking $895 as I am already losing $ on investing on the modifications.  But I am definitely open to negotiation since I can offer no demo for where they're located.

These are located less than 30 miles east of Dallas, Texas.

For some reason I can't get the CL link to paste here.  Do search dallas.craigslist.org and type in Pair of Klipsch RF-7 Speakers

    Thanks for your interest.

  2. Hello, everyone.  I can't remember ever offering anything for sale . . . so here goes.

I have a pair of assembled crossovers from Bob Crites that are designed for install in any pair of Klipsch Quartet speakers.  I've only had them a few months, but I don't think that I can use them as I am selling the speakers with their original crossovers.  Any one interested?  Please do PM me.  I will post photos later today after work.  Asking $150 as they are like new and hardly used. Thanks to all looking!

Ty for pointing to this post. I did buy a pair, and man am I so pleased with them, … From the gorgeous look, to the detailed sound, never fatiguing or harsh .

I have them in my sweet spot for all day listening. I drive them with an NAD M-12 pre amp with an Onkyo M-504, and they sound amazing.

I did try them with an all tube amp n pre amp too,  and they really excel, with base like I have never felt before and musical tone and a sound so rich and smooth yet super clear.

I am going to set them up in the next week or two with an all "Cary Audio gear" :Pre amp and DAC and a Tube amplifier amp, the CAD 120Ss MKII,...I can't wait.

I did list my previous, almost brand new still, speakers, the Emotiva T-2's towers, after listening to the RF-7 III's, and never looking back. Yet no body is biting.

Hi, Paul.  How do they compare to the Chorus II's ?  Do you still have those?  I almost bought a pair of RF-7 III's but I may have to wait.

Probably not unless I'm getting some cash for driving.   I could meet in Joplin, MO.  That's not a terrible drive from Dallas. (about 5 1/2 hours)

Hi.  Again, I would be greatly interested, but I guess the drive is too long for me to squeeze within one day.  GLWS, may the lucky buyer be nearer.

Thanks,  I'd feel absolutely sick about selling these if I didn't have a nice pair of LaScala's.

Hello.  I'm definitely interested, but I don't suppose we could meet halfway from Dallas, TX to your location for this deal.

  6. Hello. My name is Dan and I am in the Dallas area.  I am relatively new at this forum. I would like to be a "new" good guy.

I started reading this forum over a year ago as well as other forums for advice on audio equipment.  In 2014, following a familial tragedy, I decided to return to audio interests like I used to have three decades before in college.

I acquired a Marantz 2270 from a long road trip to OK and sold it after a year because I didn't know how to improve it. Boy did I sure miss it.  Shortly after getting rid of a Yamaha A-S801, I acquired a totally rebuilt Marantz 4400 locally.  Now that is an awesome piece of SS equipment.  I also acquired a pair of Forte I's in 2014 and sold them this year because I finally moved up to Forte II's. I have since replaced the crossovers, despite failing to improve the weather worn cabinet veneers from poor previous ownership.  They do sound awesome, though.  In addition, I couldn't help myself and bought a used Yamaha A-S2100.  I recently broke the power switch and use the indented/cracked surface to "flip" it on/off.

Now I am torn between buying new RF-7 III's, RF-7 II's or new Forte III's (neither of which I can afford at this time). But before that, I'll be waiting on pins and needles on the final cost of repair for the Yamaha.

    I apologize for the wordiness.

Hard to guess what "impress" means, but, .......

First look at the room.  Are there hard surfaces on the floor and walls between you and the speakers?  Too many reflections will change the sound and frequency response for the worse.  Use carpets and curtains for a more artistic approach to absorbent panels.  Persian rugs on the walls is a time-honored technique.  Angling the front speakers toward you so they bounce less energy off the walls might help.

Lot's of people have trouble setting up their HT receiver or pre/pro.  Be sure you have all of your speakers set to "small" so the sub gets low bass IN ADDITION to the LFE special effects.  Then, set the receiver crossover frequency 10 to 20 Hz above the published lower limit of each speaker individually.  Set the crossover on to the subwoofer to the max frequency setting to let the receiver do all the work.  Get and use a sound meter to set the levels of all the speakers and sub.  It cannot be done accurately by ear.  You may enjoy the sub more if you add 3 dB to its calibrated setting.  Measure the actual distances from your seat to each speaker for the timing calibration.  If you use Audessey and a calibrated mic, you will get reasonable results using it exactly as described in the manual.

Your subwoofer is the least impressive.  I looked it up; it only goes down to 40 Hz!  Replace.  Two high quality, high output 12-inchers should be enough.  Be sure they dig down to at least 25 Hz.  I am partial to Klipsch, but I've also witnessed a demo of Klipsch subs against other well respected subs and the Klipsch killed the other one in low frequency output, distortion and lack of port noise.

I would never go to smaller speakers hoping to be "impressed".  A 3rd RB-81 would make a good center channel speaker, too, even on it's side, but set the crossover even higher than the front left and right unless it is against a wall.

BTW, I decided to go with the RP-160M's as my FRONTS and get an RP-250C for center in the near future.

Impress you, how do you mean?

I'm sorry, I meant that I replaced an older Denon AVR that was setup with other speakers with the current model X4000 and it seems to be weak in comparison to the previous setup.
