  1. Definitely a scam. I saw this same ad over a year ago. I reported it to Ebay.
  2. I did run Audyssey and prefer it when listening to 5-channels. I don't notice too much of a difference in 2-channel whether it's on or off. Overall, I like the sound of my old Denon 3802 better than the new Denon-3300. Even though it's better, the bass and overall sound is still too thin. I expected more "slam". I've combed these forums for hours and the general consensus seems to be that the RF-7ii shine when they have real external power. I guess it could be my room, but it's far easier to change my "suspect" amps over changing room characteristics. Thanks for the reply!
  3. The room itself is 16' x 24' with 9' vaulted ceilings. I sit roughly 12' feet away with the speakers being 10' from each other. I tend to listen to music at loud levels for short durations(I'm guessing around 95 db). My current AVR is fine for TV/movies but not so much for music. The music becomes "thin" when cranked up. Sad to say, as of right now I don't think there is too much of a difference between my old RF-3s and my new RF-7ii. I know the source/amp HAS to be the difference.
  4. Thanks for all the replies, I truly appreciate it. I keep thinking that Class D is the way to go, please correct me if I'm wrong. For roughly $200 (minus the enclosure) I can buy a power supply and TI audio board that have some fairly impressive specs. The issue I have with any amp is that I really can't audition them first. My biggest worry is that I can easily end up spending $700+ and not really hear a discernible difference to what I have now ....and if this is a used amp, I'm stuck with it until I sell it(which can be a big hassle). The TI board I was looking at is $150-ish + $40-ish for the power supply. If the combo sounds great, I can then look for a decent enclosure, if it's bad, I'm out $200 versus $700+ for a "conventional" amp. Does this seem at all logical? Again, thanks for any input... Mark
  5. I've actually looked at the "Class D" thread in the Solid State forum. I'm very intrigued by the Texas Instruments TPA3255EVM board. I'd like to know how this stacks up against the amps I've listed. I wouldn't mind doing a DIY amp if I knew the outcome would be worth it.
  6. I currently have a Denon AVR-x3300w that feeds a RC-3 and 2 x RS-3s. I use the pre-outs from this receiver to feed an older Denon AVR-3802 that solely powers a pair of RF-7iis (I know this setup is rather goofy, but I wanted maximize the power to the RF-7iis). The two options I am looking at is a used Emotiva XPA-2($500) or a new Outlaw-5000($599). My main goal is to "wake up" the RF-7iis as they seem a little too "thin" running on the AVR alone. So I guess my questions are; Do both amps have ample power to run the RF-7iis and is one better than the other in terms of clarity, sound stage and instrument separation? Is there maybe a better option at this price point(maybe 2x Outlaw 2200 mono block)? Thanks for any input.... Mark

    Bitcoin ETF?

You can use an exchange such as Coinbase. I've purchased fractions of a Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin through them.
  8. They're Walnut. I found the link in the "alerts!" section. They look better in person, I'm amazed by the fit and finish. They're supposedly new (not B-stock). Even if they weren't "new", they're flawless. They came with a free sub-woofer, free shipping and no tax for $1799. I'll probably sell the woofer to offset the cost a bit. I need a better amplifier, right now I'm using a Denon AVR-x3300w. I'm guessing they're probably at 80-85% of their full potential.
  9. I acquired the Cornwalls approximately two months ago from a current veteran forum member(who shall remain nameless unless he chooses to chime in:). They sound great, I'm just looking more for a home theater type speaker and have since purchased a pair of RF-7 IIs. These have been tastefully modded and there is currently nothing left to update or upgrade. Here are a list of updates/upgrades: Tweeters are set up with HF Elliptrac horns coupled with DE220 TI drivers, the woofers have been replaced with Eminence Kappa 15C, crossovers have been updated with new capacitors and are in the "B" configuration, all of the internal wiring has been replaced, mid horn has been dampened with Dynamat and new 5 way binding posts have been installed. I would rate the cabinets in good to very good condition. There are a few nicks and dings but overall they look very good. From 10 feet away they look fantastic! For pick up only. I'm located just south of Lansing Michigan. As the title states, I'm looking to get $950, the same amount that I paid for them. Thanks for looking!
  10. Here they are.....so far I love them! Although, I now have a new list of "stuff" to buy; entertainment stand, bigger center channel, bigger/better amp!
  11. I thought the EXACT same thing when I auditioned these two about a week ago. Both are great, it all comes down to the type of music you listen to. I just received my RF-7 IIs today!!!
  12. I guess it goes to show you that speakers need to be heard for one's self. Based on the forums here alone, I would have EASILY bought the Forte III's over the RF-7 II's. I just got back(10 minutes ago) from listening to both the Forte III's and the RF-7 II's. Both speakers were on quality tube pre-amp/amps. There were 3 of us listening and all 3 of of us picked the RF-7 II's...hands down. The Forte's sounded good, but not nearly as good as the RF-7 II's AND the Forte's were $1000 more! When it up comes to the upper echelon of Klipsch, convincing someone that one is better than the other is like trying to convince someone that vanilla ice cream is better than chocolate. I would be happy with either though.
  13. I currently use RF-3’s for music and movies. I love the sound but I’m looking for something with a little more soundstage. The obvious choice (on paper) would be the RF-7ii, but I’m also considering the Chorus II or the KLF-30. The Chorus II and KLF-30 can be had at a fraction of the price of a RF-7. I’d love to hear them side by side but that’s not really possible. So my question is, are the three speakers at all similar in sound as far as detail, accuracy and brightness? I’m not necessarily looking to see which one is better because it’s SO objective and there is no correct answer, I’m looking more to see which one will sound similar to the RF-3. I think I’ve come to realize that I’m more of a fan of the tractrix horn. As always, thanks for any input. Mark

    OH Estate Sale

I did! I stopped at $1200. As much as I wanted them, there were just too many unknowns.

    OH Estate Sale

There WAS a bidding war, I'm out! Too many unknowns and no way to get answers until it's too late.

Thanks! I threw my hat in the ring, we'll see what happens!
  17. Good point. If there wasn't a discernible difference, why go at all? I'm fairly handy with the ole' soldering iron, so I'm going to order the parts and try it out! Thanks again for the response!
  18. If there is no discernible difference between the two, is it even worth the effort to convert them over to B-2? Thanks for any input!
  19. The crossovers have been recently upgraded with Dayton caps. I've thought about getting the few extra parts and converting them to "Type B-2" just to see what the difference is. Otherwise, I'm fairly happy with the way it sounds now. Thanks for the suggestion though!
  20. Thanks for the replies!! I originally just gave up too quickly. I took the receiver back out of the shipping box, hooked everything up and spent quite some time with it. I was able to adjust and tweak everything to my liking. 5-channel audio is now great and the Cornwalls really come alive when in 2-channel. I've always liked 5-channels for music for the "immersion factor". I now realize that I'm immersed enough when the Cornwalls "wake up"! Overall I'm happy with the sound. I'm sure there's more to gain, but I'm happy for now. In the future I may visit pre-amps and tubes....baby steps! Thanks again!
  21. Funny you should say this! I was just about to start a new thread until I saw your response. I just purchased a Denon AVR-x3300W from accessories4less a few days ago. Last year this AVR went from $1000 to $600 presently(new). I bought a factory refurb for $450. The output specs looked similar to what I have now(within 5 watts/channel). The unit sounds great but it just doesn't have the "in your face" max volume that I was looking for. My old Denon 3802 is considerably louder. I should have looked at the power supply rating rather than the skewed channel ratings. I can send it back, but I'll lose $100 in doing so with shipping and restocking fees. So my question is; Do I take the $100 hit or do I keep it and purchase an external amplifier for the L/R channels? The new Denon does have pre-outs. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced 2-channel amplifier? Does a cheaper AVR with an external amplifier equal a considerably more expensive AVR? Thanks again for any input.....Mark
  22. My current Denon AVR-3802 has served me well with the Reference Series (RF-3, RC-3 and RS-3)for the past 15 years, but it's time to move on. I recently purchased a pair of Cornwalls and would like some help with a new AVR recommendation. I will say that I feel like an oddity with my listening preferences. I like to listen to music in 5.1 and prefer my music to be "bright". I'd like to stay away from the "tube" sound. Tubes sound great, but they are a little too flat for me. I'm looking for a "brighter" receiver with all of the newer features(bluetooth especially). I basically want a receiver that will do the Cornwalls some justice and brighten them up a bit. I don't see myself needing anything more than 5.1 and don't see the need for 4K. I currently have HDMI's going straight to the LCD with audio being back fed via fiber. My music to movie ratio is around 3:1. I'd like to stay in the range of $500-$1000. As always, thanks for any input... Mark
  23. Just as the title says, I'm looking to buy one or the other. Must be in good shape. I live in central Michigan and can travel up to a 2-3 hours away if need be. Thanks!!!
