  1. I don't think Klipsch makes a small sub worthy of a Heresy, I honestly don't know if the SPL-110 is worth a damn. I would go with a pair of SVS Micro subs. Or a couple RELs. They make really small subs too. KEF also has a desirable micro sub. Problem is: a pair of any of the aforementioned subs will get quite expensive really quick. Whatever you get, it needs to be a sealed design. In order to have the speed needed to keep up with Heresys.
  2. I'm usually a burn-in skeptic but it definitely took some time for me to start really enjoying my CWIVs. Now rather than was burn-in, brain burn-in or figuring out optimal placement and toe-in angle, I'm not sure. Maybe it was all of the above.
  3. My Cornwall IVs are 2 inches from the wall and toed in. Spaced apart about 10-11 feet I believe. I played around a lot with placement and I found them to be totally inadequate in regards to bass unless placed that close to the wall. At least in my room.
  4. Hmm maybe not the way you're thinking but I believe you could do something similar with the camera function of the app. You can record videos with a FR graph overlaid. This may only be in the Pro (paid) version of the app, which I recommend.
  5. There's a fantastic iPhone app in the App Store called "Decibel: dB sound level meter" developed by Vlad Polyanski. It does everything, measures SPL and gives a FR graph. It can even tell what instrument is playing in any given recording, and it's damn accurate. I use this app with the built-in mic on my iPhone with great results, but you can also plug in an external higher end mic if you have one.
  6. She's no Corvette but she is paid for! 2009 Nissan 370Z Sport/Touring with a 6-speed manual transmission. I just had a paint correction and ceramic coating applied last weekend. I can't believe how well it turned out. The paint was swirled terribly before the polish. It looks damn near brand new now, very pleased how it turned out. In October I had a few mods installed and had it tuned on a Dyno. She makes 332hp at the wheels now, which may not sound like much by today's standards, but trust me it's more than enough to get yourself in trouble, in more ways than one! Nissan rates these cars at 332hp at the crank from the factory, so she's making close to 400hp at the crank now. You can see how bad the headlights were in this bottom pic from October! They look brand new in the top pic! They were wet sanded and ceramic coated.
  7. Where does one purchase these lambs wool grills? I’ve recently discovered that I much prefer the sound of my Cornwall IVs with the grills off, it definitely has a more crisp, more lively sound with the grills off, and I’m confident I could discern it blindly. But damn those grills look amazing on your FIVs!
  8. Anybody gotten a PA5 stack in their hands yet to use with any Heritage speakers or anything like that?
  9. Nah the Klipsch Facebook group is the worst offender, in my opinion. Klipsch makes some easily accessible speakers you can buy in big box stores, so it goes without saying a lot of people who don't know what they're doing end up with a bunch of copper drivers in their living room with some very questionable setups and speaker placements lol.
  10. At that budget I recommend the Topping PA5 and the matching balanced DAC it stacks with. It's impossible to beat at that price.
  11. Dude....stop doing that. Like now. That's a sweet amp but you're using it in a way that it's not intended to be used. It's you wonder you haven't already caused it irreversible damage and hell maybe you have. 2 channel amps are for running.....2 channels. From my experience in this forum and especially in the Klipsch Facebook groups I'm in: Klipsch owners do some weird sh*t. From stuff like this to people stacking their surround channels on top of their mains, to mounting their center channel on the goddamn ceiling.
  12. I love the pairing! It took a few days to really click for me. The first day I spent with it I was ready to box it up and send it back lol. I had to move my speakers just a touch. The 6000f is less fickle than the CWIV, so I suspect you'll plug in and fall in love. Just give it a day or so if it doesn't impress right away. Also the streaming of the 6000a Play leaves something to be desired. It doesn't support gapless playback (at least for now) and it uses your phone as a go between. I have a PC plugged into my Play via optical so I don't really even use the "Play" functionality. I could have saved some $$ and got the non-Play model. Oh well.
  13. Also: look into the Topping PA5! It has a matching balanced DAC and the pair is less than $600! ASR just measured it and it was the second best measuring amp they've ever measured. Right behind the Benchmark AH2B! It's a 50wpc Class D amp and it's one of the best measuring amps in the world. I intend to get a stack eventually myself. 14. That Yamaha 1200 would likely be fantastic with the Heresy IV. I have to tell you though, I picked up a 50wpc Audiolab 6000a Play for my Cornwall IVs and it's a fantastic pair. This amp has grunt. Though I could have saved $300 and got the non-Play version, and I would suggest you do too. The streaming sounds fantastic, but for whatever reason it uses your phone as a go-between. Plus there's a ridiculous gap between tracks. I mean like 3-5 seconds. So no gapless playback when streaming. The Audiollab 6000a Play is $1300 and the 6000a is $1000. I was prepared to spend up to $5000 on an integrated amp and it was something I thought about literally all summer. But I was recommended the 6000a Play and I'm glad I was.
  15. I take my Cornwalls out into the yard and rinse them off with the water hose. Then just let them air dry in the sun. If it leaves any water spots just hit it with a can of spray paint. You don’t want your Cornwalls to get too spoiled, you know? They need to know struggle in order to convey the emotion in music. Every once in while I smack my Cornwalls around a little bit and talk crazy to them.
  16. Most likely the expectation bias club who want to justify their $7000 amps that measure worse than this little China box. "Oh but the soundstage" yes I'm sure all those expensive amps do all the subjective things (that can't be measured) better than this amp. All the subjective things that seem to disappear when doing blind ABX testing.
  17. So wow the DAC is basically a pre-amp with a remote??? OMG I want this stack so bad now. I literally just spent $1300 on a much larger and undoubtedly worse measuring integrated Audiolab amp....This is so cool and insane to me.
  18. I honestly do worry that a little stack like this would have an adverse effect on my expectation bias and possibly even not sound as good (in my head) because of it!
  19. That is the coolest little stack I think I've ever seen. So you are the guy who started the "Honey I shrunk the stereo" thread? What kind of power does that PA3 put out? 30wpc? That little rack is awesome too dude. Just imagine a little stack like that powering monster speakers like Khorns or hell even Cornwalls. That is endlessly cool.
  20. From what I understand it’s rated at 50wpc at 8ohms and 80wpc at 4ohms (.08THD) with quite a bit more headroom at 1% distortion. I think it was like 130wpc at 1%THD at 4ohms. Very impressive stuff for a loudspeaker amp smaller than most headphone amps and even most headphone DACs. Hell yeah that’s awesome brother. Is the E50 DAC the one that stacks perfectly with this amp, size wise? That’s an amazing little stack dude. I literally just bought a 50wpc integrated and I’m very tempted to pick up this Topping stack just for the damn novelty. If it had a remote I would absolutely pick it up.
  21. Yeah the way I understood it was that by plugging ports you got less deep bass but more impactful. But yeah, speaker placement is surely the best way to achieve the desired results.
  22. Yeah I’ve seen it mentioned in a few threads that in some cases you can better better bass response by plugging one bass port on each CWIV. And that was the case with my old amp. But with my new amp I got better more impactful bass with having them all open.
  23. I pushed my Cornwall IVs even closer to the wall this weekend and got even better bass. The inside corner, the corner closest to the wall, is only 2 inches from the wall now. I also removed the plug from the bass port (aka Cornhole). It’s weird because with my old A/V receiver I got better bass impact with one cornhole plugged on each speaker. With this new Audiolab it sounds best with all cornholes open. I’m sure I would get better soundstage depth if I pulled the speakers out from the wall but I’m willing to sacrifice depth for this amazing impactful bass I get.
  24. Awesome brother what speakers will you be pairing with? And which DAC? You do know this PA5 only has balanced TRS connectors, right? So you’ll have to pair it with a balanced DAC and you’ll likely have to use some sort of XLR to TRS adapter, unless your current DAC has balanced TRS out, which I find unlikely haha.
  25. Are you the one who started the "honey I shrunk the system" thread? Maybe that thread was talking about the PA3. These new breeds of class D amps are changing the entire audiophile landscape. These boutique amp manufacturers making wildly overpriced amps that measure terribly should really be scared. I just hope Schiit has an answer for this class D craze as I much prefer to buy American when I can. I'm sure they'll be announcing something next year.
