  1. I'll be back in the market next year for a more substantial setup. Hell with this new class D offering from Topping (PA5), it's going to be extremely hard to ignore what they put out in the next year too.
  2. It'd be one hell of a clean and transparent combo for less than $600. I tell you what if it had a remote I'd buy one to use for my main system lol. It makes the same power as my Audiolab 6000a Play and I guarantee you it measures better. We already they're going to come out with a larger more powerful unit, likely with an integrated DAC and all the other bells and whistles. Should be very interesting to see what they come up with. Exciting times for us audiophiles.
  3. (1) Topping PA5 Review (Amplifier) | Audio Science Review (ASR) Forum I've seen this little beast mentioned here I believe. ASR got their hands on it, we have nearly AHB2 performance here for $350. Incredible. Couple this with their matching balanced DAC and you have quite the combo for any Heritage speaker pair. This little combo was basically made for us lol.
  4. Looks like a solid amp! I already picked up an Audiolab 6000a Play and am actually quite happy with it after over a week with it. It's satisfied me enough that I'm no longer in the market for an integrated. I will be keeping an eye on Schiits new, though not officially announced or revealed, class A amp, the Tyr. I'm still interested in pairing a Freya+ with a couple of monoblock amps.
  5. Hey no worries brother. I haven't listened to that but I can agree even still lol. I'm sure he's discussing what a mess that DTS Play-Fi app is. It's OK IMO, the only niggle I have is that it doesn't keep the track order of my albums on my media server. It lists them in alphabetical order lol. Though Tidal and all the other streaming services work great. But I mostly use the Audiolab with a source plugged in via optical. Accessing my local files and Tidal through the Audirvana interface. I compared the internal DAC with my Schiit Modius and I actually preferred the Audiolab internal DAC. So I moved the Modius back to headphone duty.
  6. Agreed. With the Audiolab, if I put my ear to the tweeter I can hear noise, but nothing from the listening position. I could hear all kinds of weird shit with the AVR when at max volume with nothing playing. If you put your ear to the tweeter you could hear a weird grinding noise that was on like a 2 second interval. Not the case with the Audiolab.
  7. I'd get H4s and take them out of the cabinet and put them on top of the cabinet instead.
  8. The Lords Law Of Harmonies: Music Through Christ, written in 1932 by Imade Thisup, an Italian author, concludes that there is no such thing as too much cowbell.
  9. Are the woofers getting a signal at all? Like if you touch them do you feel any vibration whatsoever? I mean this is obvious… but do you have the jumpers installed on each speaker? The jumpers that tie the HF and LF binding posts together…that’s the only thing I can think of.
  10. Yeah brother this thing really is fantastic IMO. It still seems to be getting better and better or I'm just acclimating to it more and more. I can't get over how much more bass this thing puts out compared to my Onkyo AVR. This amp is basically allowing me to rediscover or discover my Cornwall IVs for the first time. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my CWIVs for many months with that Onkyo AVR, but damn I had no idea what I was missing out on. I honestly expected the difference to be more subtle.
  11. True, I definitely have a less than optimal room. I have my speakers spaced apart about 13 feet from each other. Any further apart and I don't get a center image. I believe this to be the result of my 7ft tall ceilings, a foot shorter than Klipsch recommends for Cornwalls. Even still, I'm very pleased with the sound in their current positioning and placement. I finally upgraded to a decent integrated amp and it only got better. And with me coming from an A/V receiver, the difference wasn't exactly subtle lol.
  12. You haven’t. I made it up a few months ago lol. I’m actually quite proud of the term lmao.
  13. I finally got the Audiolab 6000a Play in my system. Let me tell you...I'm glad I didn't just stick with my first impression because I was tempted to box this thing up and ship it right back. I don't know if it "burned in" a bit or if I just needed time to adjust to the new sound, or maybe the amp needed to warm up from being in the cold from the trip to my house, but I'm glad I gave it a real chance because this thing truly sounds incredible now. I adjusted my speaker angle just ever so slightly and I also removed the plug from one of the Cornwall bass ports (AKA Cornholes). It's weird because on my old A/V receiver the bass was definitely more impactful with one Cornhole plugged up. The bass is literally perfect now, I have two subs but I haven't even plugged them into the Audiolab, and won't. They aren't needed. I'll leave them plugged into the A/V receiver for when I watch movies etc. The center stereo image was perfectly fine with the A/V receiver but with the Audiolab it's even more defined and precise. The soundstage now sounds wider than my speaker placement which is NOT something the A/V receiver could accomplish. Listening to Tools Chocolate Chip Trip when the drums are panning back and forth from left to right, the sounds go way beyond the speakers. I even prefer the internal DAC of the Audiolab compared with my Schiit Modius. Much more impactful and lively sounding. To me the Audiolab sounds best when fed with an optical cable. The streaming from my hard wired ethernet is also fantastic. I'm going to move the Modius back into my headphone rig, which is what I bought it for originally, stacked with a Jotunheim.
  14. If power cables can employ filtering and active noise cancelling, like the iFi Supanova, then surely they can provide some benefit, even with 50 year old wiring in the walls. That's kinda like saying adding a water filter at the end of 50 year old water pipes will make no difference... I bought an iFi Nova power cable and can't say I heard a difference, though I didn't swap it in and out, back and forth either. But even still it satisfies my fear of missing out and it looks cool, like a piece of audio jewelry, which is how I've always treated cables. Audio jewelry. If it adds to your enjoyment and you have the money, spend it!
  15. The flashing light makes me think it's fried an amp or something catastrophic. Are they still under warranty? Hopefully...
  16. Absolutely correct. I have mine shoved as close to the wall as I can while still having an aggressive toe-in. Pulling them out into the room or giving the speakers "room to breathe" pretty much killed all the bass. I don't see how people run them like that and still get enjoyment.
  17. Check out the audiolab 6000a (non-Play model). 100wpc class ab and a good DAC. No streaming capabilities. Just a simple integrated. They're $1000 shipped on Amazon. I ended up with the Play model...though the goddamn thing still hasn't arrived and Amazon currently can't even tell me where it is.....their current estimated date of arrival is anywhere from today (yeah right) to November 20....I tell you: Amazon Prime is not what it was a couple years ago.
  18. You can't fit one on either side of the monitors? I dunno if it has an effect but having them on their side would leave me wondering if they were performing their best.
  19. Thanks brother. It was supposed to come today but it’s been delayed and Amazon doesn’t even have an updated delivery date ugh. Hopefully tomorrow.
  20. I ended up picked up an Audiolab 6000a Play. Nothing too crazy but will hopefully provide an audio e upgrade over the receiver. Plus it didn’t break the bank so I’ll still be on the lookout for something more substantial. If I end up with tubes it’ll likely be a tube pre-amp. Like a Freya+.
  21. Ah OP hasn’t logged into the forums since March 2020. Looks like he got his Forte IIIs and ran haha. Or he died of covid. Enjoy your speakers! Or RIP…. Whichever it is….
  22. Hope you didn’t jump on those Forte IIIs too early lol. As I think Klipsch announced the Forte IV not too long after this was posted.
  23. I finally made a decision yesterday and ordered this to pair with my Cornwall IVs Amazon.com: Audiolab 6000A Play Integrated Amplifier with Wireless Audio Streaming (Black) : Electronics except I got it in silver and with Prime shipping. It checks all the boxes for me and I believe it will for you as well. It was well below the budget I had set for myself, which made it easier to purchase. I'm just excited to get away from the A/V receiver I've been using the last 6 months. Plus since this didn't break the bank I'll still have my eyes on a more substantial upgrade down the road. Maybe this summer.
  24. I ended up picking up an Audiolab 6000a Play. This is a more sensible integrated that will get me away from the A/V receiver and still leave some money in the bank so I’ll still have my eye on something more substantial down the road. Plus my Cornwalls will be paid off in June and that will give me an extra $500 a month to play with. I’m pretty excited with the purchase, it’s been pretty well received anywhere I’ve seen it reviewed. Andrew Robinson actually recommend this amp to me personally haha.
  25. Cambridge Audio CX61 could be an option at $1000. Also, don't sleep on this little $500 integrated from Yamaha! Review and Measurements of Yamaha WXA-50 Streaming Amp | Audio Science Review (ASR) Forum It measures VERY respectably. Has a sub output too. I've been stressing over the same decision as you since June for a pairing with my Cornwall IVs...still haven't bought anything yet.
