I own the RP160M, which are the precursors to yours. I've driven them with a Marantz PM5005, a Denon compact system, a vintage HK430, a Tubecube 7 3.5wpc and a Leben Hifi CS300 12wpc. The order Listed here is also the increasing sound quality. Consider an amp that has a connection for a subwoofer. Consider buying an entry level tubbe amp. EL84 tubes will do fine. Consider buying a solid state amp 100wpc. A good class d amp will do fine. Consider buying used gear. All my best gear is pre-owned. Enjoy the music. That's what it is a out, right?

Did a little bit of research on that. The cover art of the album was changed because of the newspaper front page in it.

You were politically mature at an early age! π

Taking a huge risk here by posting images of a openly communist album. π This 1988 Billy Bragg album, punk folk, has the subtitle 'capitalism is killing music', referring to the 1980s campaign 'Home taping is killing music'. I plead guilty! Note the horn speaker in the cover art. My album still has its original price tag. I paid 379 Bfr for it, which is slightly less than 10 euros/dollars.

Receiver Advice (Marantz NR1200) Negative Review for Heresy IVs
MeloManiac replied to Cacti's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
This model is part of the Marantz budget line. It will give you a lot of connectivity and inputs, but the sound quality is not so good. A speaker like the Heresy will reveal any weaknesses in your audio chain. If you want streaming capabilities and a good amp in one compact system, you'll have to invest a lot more, like triple tej NR1200 price. The other path is a good amp, and an exteral streamer. -
I was in my car and my (standard) car speakers could not handle this track's bass line: But 1972 Heresies at home stood strong!

Best wishes for the new year! Here, I'm about to start cooking for tonight. But first things first, which is to decide what music to play while cooking. It's going to be Katie Melua's Best Of.

RF62 Speakers low end not as prominent as it was before.
MeloManiac replied to Ben Stone's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I once wasted a lot of time with a similar issue, but it turned out to be the input source. A full reboot of the streamer did the job, but I guess you are smarter than me and first swapped the L and R cables! What do you mean with 'tightening the cables'? Make sure there is no contact between the two cables in the left speaker. Use a light and a loupe and double check. Tightening may cause a bad contact on the inside too, so my next step would be to open the speaker and check all the wiring inside. Also check the crossover for bad contacts. Next step could be measuring the capacitors of your crossover. As your speakers are fairly new, maybe playing a loop of bass heavy sounds may bring back the low hz freqs. BTW, 20Hz is exceptionally low for any speaker, so I'm not sure if the app you use is accurate. Trust you ears instead! -
I always thought having cassettes and CDs in my car was a nuisance and a distraction but... (I came across this on some social media network...) Muhammad Ali had a record player that played 45 rpm records built into his automobile. In the 60s, Norelco "Auto Mignon" only held one 45 rpm record at a time, for 4Β½ minutes of play, potentially distracting the driver with the need for multiple record changes. Consumer Reports claims the Norelco players were able to keep the needle on the record while driving and that the needle performance was "unaffected by rough roads, car sway, and sharp braking." However, "a steady stylus had its price, wearing down the records from the high pressure required to keep it in place. And the RCA unit's turntable ran fast, speeding up records," according to CR. In addition, there was nowhere to put the vinyl since the Norelco didn't store any records. Car record players soon made way for the eight-track tape deck. In September 1965, the Ford Motor Company introduced factory-installed and dealer-installed eight-track tape players as an option on three of its 1966 models (the sporty Mustang, luxurious Thunderbird, and high-end Lincoln), and RCA Victor introduced 175 Stereo-8 Cartridges from its RCA Victor and RCA Camden labels of recording artists catalogs.

Since I've bought my 1972 Heresies in 2018, I rarely see vintage Klipsch speakers being sold on auction sites here in Belgium. Today, a 1963 set of Heresies in pretty good state is up for sale. Take a look here: https://www.catawiki.com/nl/l/78195201?aci=385b403d-1016-4a09-a553-5235408bfd2a&utm_campaign=Audio+Equipment-BE&utm_content=2ehandsbe&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=coop&fbclid=IwAR2VKFCdkDI6ldLtlRxLnaxLoQFsPXa-JtbCJFkAv1tYnl7V1ykcwkLG7KQ I'm not involved in this. Just sharing...

Delivery to Belgium was FedEx. Needed to pay extra 28 cents import. Plus 5 euro admin costs... Thieves

It's been a while - very busy for work, and a bit down due to winter, but this package, delivered today, put a smile on my face! Dope from Hope!

I got mine just now. I'm very proud because I'm Belgian and the book was Made In Belgium!!!! It looks fantastic!

Sitting next to my wood burning stove, enjoying a glass of Leffe Blond and playing some great music!

Today I went grocery shopping across the border, in Leclerc Bailleul, France, which is only 30km from my home. I treated myself to goat cheese, Camenbert, pain flute etc. But hey, I also bought two vinyl records! Jean Michel Jarre's 1979 Oxygene and The Scorpions' Tokyo Tapes, which I consider their best live album.

Well, I think you deserve a prize for your new listening room... But a punishment for not hooking up your turntable first! π That will teach you for being a granite junkie. π

My β¬65 stylus for my SL DL1 tangential sounded off this week, and this morning, spinning a Bill Frisell record, there was huge distortion so I replaced the stylus with an old one costing β¬25. Blown away by the better sound. Can't see anything wrong with a loupe, though. End of life cycle? Less than a year old. But spinning a lot of old albums....

My main system is the Leben CS300 with 1972 Heresies. For me, they fill up my living room (L-shaped, both legs 10m long, 4.5m wide and 2.4m high) but I don't play my music at concert level. The cs300 is 12wpc and should be enough. I have other amps (Denon and a vintage H/K430) that are around 35wpc, and they 'open up' the Heresies even more, so that the neighbours can join in listening πI play vinyl most of the time too, btw. I use the iFi Zen Phono (first edition). So I think the heresies will do fine. Also, consider other aspects like size and available space. ps I live in Belgium, and here, of late, used Klipsch Heritage gear, I mean vintage, has become very rare too. Especially the Heresies.

Here's a piece I love to listen to on a Sunday morning: Schuberts Trout Quintet. (For the more religious audiomaniacs, I'd advise Vivaldi's Gloria)

Them Frenchies know one or two things about music too! π

I'm humbled... I brought my β¬260 Denon micro system downstairs and hooked it up to my 1972 Heresies. Thought my β¬3,000 Leben CS300 tube amp would be the easy winner of this 'battle', but the Denon holds firm ground! The Denon's 40 wpc made my son come downstairs to turn down the volume. It wasn't even half open. He said his bed was shaking!!!! πππ Of course, the Heresies are the shining stars here! PS The Denon is soooo much better than my similarly priced Marantz PM5005 entry level amplifier. So now, let's spin some vinyl!

I bought a h/K 430 because of its rep here on the forum. It is in original state. It's the best SS amp in my house. I guess recapping it would make it even better. The previous owner was planning to do this, but I think it is fine. It is indeed great on the lows, and it also has a great Phono Pre amp. And of course, the design is very nice too! It currently drives a set of old Onkyo speakers.

If you have the chance, watch this docu about Syd Barrett. A lot of original footage and first witness accounts.

Today, out of nothing, I changed the gain setting of my iFi Zen Phono preamp to mm (see Pic). It had been on Mc high ever since I bought it. Although I have an mm cartridge, back then, I thought the Mc high setting sounded louder and therefore better. But today, after setting it to mm, I realise I was wrong all along. Set to mm, it sounds slightly less loud, but it is so much more well balanced, the highs and the lows I mean, and there is so much more subtleness to the recordings. I listened to Daft Punk's RAM, side 1 up to 4, Charly Hunter's Bing Bing Bing (jazz), and some obscure but excellent JS Bach harmonia Mundi record by Kuijken/Leonhardt, and the subtleness increase is present in all genres.
