CROSSOVER NETWORK ALK AP12-500 ALK ES5800 Please chime in with any thoughts.Have purchased only the crossover network as it will be the longest wait time for it. I will start sharing photos as I get parts together and cabinets in hand which I will order this week. I made some additions to the list as I get suggestions from Forum members. Here a picture of the super Hersey I finished last year.. Ready for a new project..
  2. I have two of these and they are quite nice and priced around $800.00 now.
  3. I'm running the Monolith 7 x100 and it is a beast , They offer a 5 x 100 also. Prices are around 1400 USD on Amazon when in stock.
  4. Pioneer UDP-LX500, world wide stereo
  5. I have the same front stage as you but I'm doing a 7.2.4 HT setup. I use the 502's as side surrounds and as rear heights . Hersey as rears and 600 bookshelf for front heights. I have both the SPL 120 and 150 and if I had one it would have to be the 150. If i was doing floor standing speakers I would do Forte or cornwalls but that is only because I love the Hertage line. As far as denon 4500 it good I use the 6500 and it has more channels and I drive the front state and rears with a monolith 7 x 100 amp. It keeps the temps down on the denon some.
  6. interested as i have another pair of them I restored, best price with shipping double boxed to 70508.

  8. this is what i purchased to cool mine down..paid 109..00 has many features pretty quite and does the job.looks good also. AC Infinity AIRCOM T9, Quiet Cooling Fan System 17" Top-Exhaust for Receivers, Amps, DVR, AV Cabinet Components
  9. I tried them and they did not work as wells as I liked. I ended up putting them on rear walls. that is the 500's.In my room flat ceiling in my case I tried to place the heights as close to ceiling
  10. I think I paid 849.00 Amazon again..LOL You should be very happy with it. It gets hot so make sure if you put it in an enclosed cabinet to get a fan to keep temp low..
  11. amazon i paid 1500.00 for my 6400 and then give you 30 days no question returns.
  12. I would look at going to the AVR-X4400X OR AVR-X6400X. No big changes for the upgrade and signifcant savings . Having said that I have the 6400. I start at 5.1 with the 4400 then upgraded to the 6400 and running 7.1.4 now. I would get more channels so you dont limit yourself down the road.
  13. I'm using a Denon Avr-X6400H for receiver. I tried the set up with the RP-500 on top of my front RF-7 and realyl did no get much from them. Moved them to the rear when I purchased the RP-600M bookshelf which I use as front heights. I am trying to get the upper fill with my heights and and greater separation.
  14. I have them in this set up set to 80hz and switch to surround.. rear heights mounted to wall above listener.. as far a mininum setting that would be starting at 80hz and try 70hz and see if you like it, if not go in 5-10hz changes until your happy. really depends on you and your room/equipment.80hz is always a good strating point mine are set at 80hz and my surrounds at 70hz fronts and center at 60hz.
  15. I used the omni mounts for the RP-502's and used the threaded mount near the bottom and added 4 small wood screws provided with the mounts for additional security.I did not want to drill the backs but I really dont think I will get rid of them anytime and if I do I will just flush mount the screws without the bracket and done. The 502's weigh around 16-17 lbs and the bracket into drywall with lag is rated above 40lbs. works fine. As far as a clamp mount I could not find one big enough. If I did I would gues it would be 100.00 ea and what did I save, 4 holes in the back of the speaker?Just my take on it.
  16. Omnimount 25.0W Wall Speaker Mount, Black
  17. running a Denon 6400 and have it set up as a 7.1.4 home theater. How do I choose the starting point for crossover setting to optomize in my denon receiver for each pair of speakers?
  18. I have the denon 6400 also. What I have is the following and where mounted or placed RF-7 Fronts..Foor standing 600M Bookshelf Front Heights Mounted high on front wall near ceiling 12W Subwoofer Front on Left RP 600 C center under TV front center RP 502 Surrounds High on wall centered front and rear RP 500 rear surrounds high on wall rear Hersey surround back left and right. I tried it when I had a Denon 4400 without the RP 502's and 600M and used the RP 500 as dolby atmos on top of the RC 7 and it was not great for my room. I was truly wanting the separation of height and purchased the RP 502's and 600M's and moved the RP 500 to my back wall. Now I get better heights and seem to be closer to waht I wanted. I really think room dynamics ( size / shape will ) determine how good it gets for you. My personally I don't think one format is so much better and I have tried both on my system .
  19. So I finally got a chance to test out the upgrade I did on my Hersey's. The work I put it was well worth it. They sound 30% better to me. More bass response and the tweeters sounded very bright.I want to say Im really happy with them.
  20. I really like them warm tone of the birch with a good spar vanish. I just sanded them with 220 to take a little of the top coats off and then uses Howard's restor- a - finish in Golden Oak to match. They turned off IMO quite good.
  21. truth to be told I was following your thread and finally took the plunge..It was to be a Christmas present to myself to rebuild them. They honestly still sounded good to me. At 59 yo I can't hear as well as I once did.. or I don't listen well.. well anyway I'm sure to be impressed. I will give so feedback this next weekend when I get back home from work.
  22. found them on e bay direct from parts-express but had to correct to 379.98 ..gave myself a 100.00 off .. must drink more coffee prior to posting
  23. they dropped right perfect fit. the previous post had a picture of them installed after sanding and refinishing the cabinet
  24. The cabinets were in fairly good shape for 34 yo.
  25. It will be next weekend to try them out. I've been happy with them but they were set aside between house moves for about 18 months. It took me 5 hours to sand the cabinets , spruce them up with some restoration treatment and get inside and install everything. All I have to do now is install the port which will be here next Friday.I got everything to fit right in and stuffed the cabinet and trimmed all wiring out. This is after 5 hours from start of project.
