  1. After Q-Man and John Warren's positive comments about this upgrade I decided to do the same and upgrade my Khorns with Altec 311-90/290-16K and JBL 2404H. I already had the JBL 2404H (one from Shawn and the other from eBay), Altec 290-16K came from George and finally I found a pair of 311-90 horns which should arrive in about two weeks. I have Type A networks with v-caps in them and I want to continue using my Type As. Now I need to decide on the crossover points so that I can modify the networks before the horns arrive. I was thinking of ~325 HZ and 6500 Hz to make the most use of 311-90/290-16K. Would these be good crossover points? I am hoping that Q-Man will chime in here []. Of course my next question would be how to modify Type As for these crossover points. Kudret
  2. Gary also sent me a box of very nice LPs a while ago. He is the best. Thanks Gary. Kudret
  3. Here is another article on the same issue: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/961913.aspx Kudret
  4. overcompression of the dynamic range. http://spectrum.ieee.org/aug07/5429 Kudret
  5. Thanks, Arthur. BTW, They look gorgeous. I bet they sound better than they look. Kudret
  6. There is a pair that might come up for sale. I will have to sell my pCATs and some to get them. What kind of upgrades were done on them? Kudret
  7. Assuming you could sell your tuner for $600 for parts as is (since there were no tubes most probably it's not working). If you have it repaired for $800 and spend another $300 for tubes, means you'll need to sell it for $1700 to get $600. Whether it would sell for $1700 or not depends on its condition. If it is in very poor condition, you won't get $1700 for it. How much it would sell for depends on the cosmetic condition. Can you post a picture of yours?
  8. I paid about $800 for mine to be fixed at Audio Classics. Unless yours is in mint condition I would not recommend spending that kind of money on it, as you will never recover it. They sound awesome though. I sold mine recently, but I intend to buy another in the future. Kudret
  9. Arthur, I was curious to hear what ever happened to your Tenor Audio 15WP OTLS? Have you been using them, and how do you like them? Kudret
  10. Oh, I guess you won't be coming this afternoon! A courtesy email would be fine. Enjoy your Cornwalls, they are great speakers. Kudret
  11. Ki, I decided to do the same and close the backs like the 60th Anniversary models. I never liked the appearance of the false corners. My biggest obstacle is how to make the cuts! Neil, I ended up buying George's 290-16K drivers and also looking for a pair 311-90 horns. Kudret
  12. Thank's DDee. I was not aware of H700s. Kudret
  13. Tom, Shipping would probably be too expensive, but would you consider selling these as kits for those who are less talented when it comes to woodworking? Kudret
  14. I personally prefer the original black SME plinth with round edges, but I couldn't fine one at a reasnable price. I wouldn't mind this one either []
  15. Here are my 1972 Heresys which look better than those. I almost sold mine, but I am glad I didn't. Mine don't say Model H700 though! What's the difference (other than the label)? Kudret
  16. I hooked them up to Marantz 8b/7c for someone coming for an audition. He didn't show up, but I ended up spending the last night playing all my favorite CDs on them. I had to lower the bass on 7c a little but they sounded so good that I am taking them off the market for now. Kudret
  17. Here is a pair I am selling with the same surrounds: http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/64925-mint_klipsch_heresy_speakers__in_oiled_walnut_finish/
  18. These are the ones I have: I also have these, if you prefer:
  19. I have some that are not exactly the same but will do the job. If you want them email me your address and I will drop them in the mail for you. Kudret
  20. Gary, I could use some 6SL7 (vt229) and 6SN7 (vt231) in my preamp. Sylvania (tall bottle), Tung-Sol, Ken-Rad, Hytron are all good. Kudret
  21. I got mine for about $900. The prices must have gone up since then. Kudret
  22. Hi, Ki. Thank you so much for the update. That will save me a lot of time and trouble trying to detach the top sections. I will build the false corners (one of these days). Kudret
  23. I would get an Ortofon SMG-212 or SME 3009 (not the improved version) with Ortofon SPU cartridge. You might have to spend another $100-200 but in my opinion it's worth it. EDIT: If you have an MC phonostage, another option is to get an SME 3012 with Denon DL103. This is within your budget.
  24. Scott, You always have the nicest pieces I've ever seen, and this is no exception. Is that an early version SME 3012? I also heard that 401 sounds better but I like the looks of 301 better. 301 costs so much more though. Kudret
