  1. After examining many moderatly priced subs, i'm questionig the value of the KSW- series. First of all, the power tatings are incredibly lowed compared to competetors. 55w, 105w and 265w. 265w is decent but not at that price. I know theres more to a sub than amplifier power, just wondering if anyone could justify or disagree w/ my opinion. Thanks.
  2. 114 db. Damn. Thats like kill small animals loud. wow. Yeah youre gonna be deaf pretty soon. wow bout cuttin me a deal on those SVS once you cna't hear them?
  3. The Denon 5803 is a very nice reciever. I would also recomend Pioneer Elite recievers (very nice). As far as DVD players, you can't go too wrong, I would recomend the Pioneer DV-757A-Plays every disc imaginable. As far as speakers, If you have the room the reference 7 package is very nice. Using RF-7 mains, RC-7 center, RS-7 surrounds, and either another RC-7 or pair of RS-7s for 6.1 or 7.1. As far as a subwoofer, the RSW-15 is a buetiful, and wonderful sounding sub, and if you really love base you could always go for 2 . As far as TVs, I'm not that experienced, all I know is that plasmas are overpriced and Mitsubishi makes some nice TVs. I know you will enjoy your system, have fun putting it together. Good Luck!

  5. Thanks for the help. THe sub I have now has 2 set of intputs, guess it has a dual voice coil. hmmm. thanks for your time.
  6. What I mean, is there 1 or 2 set of speaker wire inputs on the SVS?
  7. The other day I was at my chiroprators and the subject of audio came up. And it went down like this (cnosult ebonics dictonary for translation: Yo, I was chillin at my chi-ro-prator and he wuz doin some chizacin on my bizack. And I done beez sazins, YO wurd G-dog thems some nize JBls you gots theres in jo office. ANd he was like Yo yeah Iz be gotz meselfs someof dem polks at home, and I beez wantinz some of dem better polks. Yo and I wuz like G, you gotz to getz some of dem Klipsz. And he was like yo I ant be likenz no klipsch, dey sounds like they from a whole. And I be doins some ristranin on myself to aint not say nuttn. Thats how it wen down G.
  8. I had it planned perfectly, Yamaha M-4 170w + 170w into SVS CS. But then, noooo! could the input be mono? I hope not. THen my hopes dreams and aspirations would be dashed to the ground. only 170W? This could not be so. So I posted this topic to see if any of you peoples could dash my hopes to the ground or lift me from this sulken wasteland of mono. Thanks.
  9. Man, you know some people read, or watch TV or sleep when their bored. Or why not build a subwoofer out of penut butter jar. hehehehe. YOu may be on to something. Look out SVS! hehe.
  10. I do enjoy clean base. I guess the KSW-15 might not be for me afterall. I still have some thime before I can afford a new sub. By then, the RSW-10 will still be out of my pricerange, but I could afford the SVS probably. THanks for the advice everyone, any more input much appreciated.
  11. Whats so bad about KSW subwofers?
  12. Thanks for the advice. The SVS does look mighty nice. I'd Like to hear from the Ears on this one too. Thanks.
  13. My pricerange is around $400. I've been looking at the KSW-15 as my primary option. I see all these people raving about SVS and wonder if their really all their cracked up to be. The only one I could really afford is the 25-31CS. I have a Yamaha M-4 (170w x 4 @ 4 ohms) that could do the job for now. Eventually upgrade to a samson servo or something like that. My question is, how would 350 watts into a SVS 25-31 CS compare to a the 800 watts of "Dynamic Power" on the KSW-15? My room is pretty small, and I'm concerned primarily with quality, but it does need to do a little rafter shaking every now and then.
  14. Definantly Rb-3s. I'm thinking of buying a pair soon. The synergy/reference difference is huge.
  15. If you have room under the TV, the best place to put it is under the TV. You really don't need two center chanels, but as proDJ put it "There is no such thing as overkill in audio". lol. If your room is wide, then you could use two cneters. In all the theatres I've seen like that, the two centers are right next to eachother in the middle under the TV. As far as Wiring goes, check your reciever. Some have 2 center channel outputs. If not, I think there's one more way to do it without buying an additional amp, but i'm not sure.
  16. Yeah, Like Doug said, its probably not the best match. I would just go all infinity. But if the klipsch blend nicely, then what the hell. How do the Infinitys sound compared to Klipsch?
  17. So 1 KSW-15 would outpreform 2 KSW-10s? Guess thats right. The only real advantatge I see to the 2 10s is I can buy them over time. We'll see. Thanks for the advice, any more suggestion much appreciated. Or if anyone wants to sell dual SVS Ultras and a sampson amp for $400.
  18. Well, I've decided on my mains (RB-3s) and eventually new surrounds. But now its time to start sub-shopping. My room is small, but I really love base. I want a decent amount of power but more importantly, it has to be deep and clean. Anyway, I cant afford the reference series, and SVS is out of my pricerange. I'm looking at the KSW series. Either 1 KSW-15 or maybe dual KSW-10s, that would be cool. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.
  19. Its really a matter of what sounds best to you. I have my sub at the back of my room next to my listening chair. Thats where it sounded best to me. There is no law where the sub has to be. Just put it where it sounds best to you. If it sounds better up front, you just saved some $$$ on that cable.
  20. I was thinking of doing the same thing with my old yamaha m-4 and rb-3s. As far as I know, it should work fine as long as both units have similar gain. I'd say it's definantly worth a try.
  21. Yeah, I went to another radio shack today and the salesman actually knew what he was talking about. He directed me right to them. I'm just glad some of these people actually know what their doing.
  22. I have a pioneer reciever, and am soon planing on buying a pair of rb-3s. I don't think theres anyway you will be disapointed with rf3IIs. To me they sound phenominal. When I listen to them, I hear things I've never heard out of my JBLs. The RF3IIs are great for both movies and music. As far as placement goes, I'm not sure what Klipsch recomends, but I'd just experiment and see what you get. Position the speakers wherever they sound best to you. I'm reding a book right now that I found very helpful on this topic: "The Complete Guide to High End Audio". THIs book does an exccelant Job of explaning almost everything(500 pages long).
  23. Deang pretty much covered it. The only thing I know cerwin vega's to be goood for is base, not the rest of the spectrum.
  24. I just went to radio shack yesterday looking for a sound-level reader. The salesman informed me they carried no usch thing. So I looked around for a while to no avial. Geuss i'll just try somewhere else.
