  1. I bought 600 records this weekend for $80 (See picture)!
  2. The idea is that the vacuum should lift the dust particles out of the grooves. This is instead of pushing them down further into the groove with a brush. It seems to work well so far...
  3. It seems like that stuff may belong the to fat guy in the pictures, whoever that is...
  4. I was considering buying the VPI 16.5. However, before I spent $500, I thought I would try a DIY record cleaner. Check out the attached picture. I 'customized' the end of a $25 shop vac that I bought at Home Depot. I cut a slit down the middle, plugged the end and attached felt to the sides. It seems to work pretty well. I do not know if the VPI would work any better. I also made my own solution with 4 parts distilled water and 1 part 91% isopropyl. Please post if you have tried something similar or have any suggestions on cleaning solution mixtures or my 'DIY Record Cleaning Machine'...
  5. I think I may have solved my own mystery... I put in Bob Marley and the Wailers - The best of the early years. The DVD-A has a 96khz version on the disk. It seems as though most of the other DVD-Audio disks I own only include a 44.1khz version!!! The receiver displayed 96khz PCM from the digital connection. Lesson learned: If it does not specificly say on the DVD that it includes a 96khz sample...it is not there! Also, picked up a few SACDs today. The offer an amazing sample rate of 2.8224Mhz (2.8 million samples per second)!!!
  6. I am confused and hoping someone on the forum can clear up my confusion about 96kh sampling output on a DVD-A disk. I have my DVD-A player connected to my reciever with both the 6 channel connection and 1 digital connection. When I play a DVD-A disk in 2 channel mode with the digital connection selected, the readout on my receiver says 44.1 PCM sample rate (not 96)...what is the deal???!!! When I play the same disk and select the 6 channel input, my receiver does not display the sample rate???!!! In the 6 channel setting, it sounds louder (at the same setting) and a bit more clear. Is it using a higher sample rate? Hopefully someone has experienced this same issue and has some answers...thanks! Rob
  7. How do you embed a photo into the text of your message?
  8. Here is the 2-channel system. Sorry, I did not have one without the Klipsch in it. Nottingham Interspace, Quicksilver Tube Phono Stage, Antique Sound Lab Integrated, Sony SACD, Denon Receiver.
  9. Do they want to sell the turntables for $0.05 on the Retail Dollar?
  10. If you read reviews of the new Avant Garde Unos (Stereophile Class A), the press sings their praises. At $10,000 and up, they are quite expensive. They seem to use the same horn technology as 'our favorite' heritage series Klipsch. Has anyone been able to compare the Avant Garde Speakers with Klipschorns?
  11. What does everyone use to clean their records? I have started using a mixture of water and isopropal alcohol. It seems to work well. I have considered buying a record cleaning machine like the Nitty Gritty or the VPI 16.5. Although, I do not know if it is worth the money. Let me know what you think...thanks!
  12. Does anyone know how much difference it would make if I upgraded my cartridge? I have a Blue Point now. I would consider a clearaudio or something that is 'the next tier up'. Please let me know what you think...thanks!
  13. Your Clearaudio table looks great (especially with that Blue Vinyl). Also, I am jealous of the finish on your corwalls...looks very cool with the wood on the front!
  14. Very nice pics! Keep them coming...
  15. I too like big band. If you are ever in Los Angeles (and have a turntable), you must go to Aomeba Records. You can pick up all kinds of terrific big band LPs for $1 each! Rob
  16. I have several excellent Eric Clapton DVD-A disks. Also, Clapton and BB King (riding with the king) is awesome! Sheryl Crow has a couple of really good releases, including the Globe Sessions. Al Green is also a must have (Depending on your musical tastes). Rob
  17. Lets see everyones turntables! I posted a picture of my Nottingham Interspace with Spacearm and Bluepoint Special Cartridge to start the ball rolling... Rob
  18. I would recommend the integrated tube amp I use now with my Heritage series Klipsch. If you buy an integrated amp (with the preamp built in), you will not need to spend extra money for a separate pre-amp. The one I own is the antique sound labs MG-SI15. It is awesome! I use mine in Single Ended Triode mode. It also has a switch to operate in Petode Mode for higher output. With the Klipsch high efficency speakers, 5 watts in SET mode is more than enough. It can get very loud with just 5 watts!!! The list price is $750. You may be able to find one at www.audiogon.com for under $500. Remarkable amp for the money... Rob
  19. My home office 2-channel system. The sweet sound of analogue (and SACD)...
